Travelling to Southend well rested and with a great deal of optimism.

Nailed on home win.

Wycombe tomorrow so it's the annual take the lead then get bullied by Akinfenwa and fold like a house of cards fixture

It would be so Oxford to lose tomorrow, but surely we'll get something. Injury-hit side at the moment but would like to think we have enough to get the job down.

Southend fans, are you really that bad?

We've averaged conceding 2.82 a game over the course of this seasons 17 games.
If your team conceded say 8 in 3 games you'd think 'Jesus, this is a bit worrying' we've been doing this for 17 games now.

In short, yes we really are that bad.

Southend win?

More chance of it snowing tomorrow

But it's Oxford, one of the two teams who we seem to have a hex over (Walsall being the other, something like 4 losses in the last 50 games). If we were Essex Senior League and they were European Champions and we happened to meet in the 3rd round of the FA Cup I'd still turn up expecting us to win the game.

ooooh yes. Is this the worst Southend side I've ever seen? (30 years and counting) Technical ability and skill, no. Application, effort and desire, by a country mile, it's not even close.

I've seen some dross here, whether it be a stand out piece of crap in a decent team or an entire 11 that you questioned how they were professional footballers. But all of them to a man at least looked like they cared, tried to make up for their lack of ability by trying.

We haven't got bad players, the issue is the they don't want to be here, play for each other, the club or the fans. You can carry 1 or 2 of those in games, I've seen that before, what I've never seen until the start of this season was 8 or 9 literally not giving one shit and until they do we'll continue to be beaten week in week out.

You know full well it did.

When? We finished 7th in his first season and 14th last year when we were decimated by injury.

At what point would anyone have turned on him?

The owner has been given plenty of shit, but Alex Neil? Nah, you're telling porkies again.

People turned on Grayson plenty of times though, luckily the club didn't panic.

Great result by Tranmere in mid week which will set them up nicely for tomorow's match at Fleetwood. Micky Mellon has done well for you and is respected by Fleetwood fans, just hope Scott Davies does'nt do another inspired job between the posts !
A real opportunity to get 3 points and put pressure back on the leading teams and though it will be a tough match going for a 2-1 win for the Cod Army

Pompey at home. We normally lose this (usually thanks to Pitman who always scores against us). Even though Portsmouth aren't having the best of seasons, if we play like we did against Wrexham the record will continue. However, if we play like we did against Coventry, Ipswich or Sunderland (all defeats) then we have a chance...

0-1 - Pitman 90+4 minutes.

I think tiredness will be our biggest problem tomorrow. The players did not get back from Wycombe until the early hours on Thursday, and due to our injury list most of them will have to play again.

We have improved a lot in the last couple of months but we are still pretty shaky at the back, and I can't really see us keeping a clean sheet against Evans and Madden. Any result for us would be a huge bonus ahead of our relegation six-pointers in December (Accy, Lincoln, Wimbledon).

My word, Southend really are atrocious. Those players should be embarrassed. An absolute shambles; if any of them remain by the end of the season they should consider it a miracle.

I felt sorry for the fans. You shouldn’t need to put up with that - the first goal inside a minute summed it up.

Hard earned win today in what was a really good game of football. Pretty even first half which Fleetwood shaded,in second Rovers came out of the blocks and Fleetwood had to defend, which they did superbly well Great to see young Fleetwood born Billy Crellin make his debut ,boy will his Mum and Dad be proud of him
Dont know why Tranmere are near the foot of the table, great away support from their fans and they made a big contribution to a fine entertaining match

Yes, I agree with most of that. We have improved a lot in the last couple of months and should be OK this season.

It was a game of fine margins really. We had sustained periods of pressure, particularly the first twenty minutes of the second half, and the pace of our attacking players caused Fleetwood big problems. However, we did not make the most of our chances and inevitably Madden popped up with the vital second goal against the run of play, showing the value of a prolific goalscorer.

We are just lacking that vital bit of quality in the key areas, but we can certainly compete with the better teams now.

Injury time defeat to the posh. Rwally tough to take and cruel.
Had more possession and more shots but we can't put teams away. Therefore you are always vulnerable to the late sucker punch.
Great goal though in fairness
We go again Tuesday at the stadium of light

hmm, had you not tried to flatten Akinfenwa in stoppage time (never the easiest task, I must say) then you would have at least got the draw.

Happy with a comfortable win, and we're finally starting to find some form.

That said Dale had the majority of possession without really creating a lot, and for once we were ruthless in front of goal.

The side is still littered with players playing out of position, and we're grinding out results rather than convincingly beating the opposition in terms of style and play. But you can't argue with our form and Jackett seems to have bought himself some time.

Our next run of fixtures are mostly against sides above us in the league, and at home. With even reasonable results again them we could find ourselves looking at the playoff places coming into Christmas. Feels a very strange and disjointed season so far.
