Yes that's my opinion. But Carey, Lameiras and a few others are out of contract so we'll see. Bowyer said he couldn't understand why we are where we are - discounting once again our disastrous start to the season we'd be challenging playoffs so maybe Derek will wake them up in August next year. With the exception of Taylor and Williams(2nd half) I didn't think Charlton had that much about them and I think we will be playing you again next year. Obviously I've only seen you play for 90 minutes but I can't really judge it on much else.

It'll be a tough year to be in the playoffs when 2 of Sunderland/Barnsley/Pompey will be in there.

Fair enough.

Think we’ve got as good a chance as any of winning the play-offs. Done the double over Portsmouth, beat Barnsley, beat Doncaster, absolutely hammered Sunderland in the second half at our place and somehow only drew. We’re plenty good enough, unfortunately for us we didn’t replace Grant and it took us a month to adjust without him, otherwise we would be right in the mix for 2nd place, probably even occupying it (appreciate that both Barnsley and Sunderland also lost their top scorers). Win our game tonight and we’re only 3 points off despite that.

I thought that you came to play, and that made it an enjoyable game to watch. Not sour grapes but I was not that impressed by you. Not bad, but not good either. Lyle Taylor is a good player at this level and I would want him in my team, but I did not think you were very convincing coming forwards except your number 21. Defensively you did not look brilliant either, main strategy seem to be to foul and hope the ref kept his cards in his pocket. Which he did. That said it was only 90 minutes and your assessment of us at the Valley would have been terrible. You have got to be in it to win it, and you have as good a chance as the rest. We can only be envious of your position, and if we lose Lamerias and Carey not sure how well we will fair next year.

By the way, have you seen a worse forward this season for his control and first touch than Ladapo? I was particularly impressed when in the second half just outside your box a short five yard pass to him hit his foot, ran up his body and came off his head. How? He can score a goal though, which I guess is what matters.

On the way to the game I pointed out to my lads that at roughly their age I lived closer to the Valley than they do to Home Park.

Your fans were a credit.

Haven't seen Barnsley this season yet, but I've seen Charlton twice, Pompey once & Sunderland thrice and from what I've seen so far, no one came close to Sunderland

I don't usually watch the play offs if I'm honest, this year though I will without doubt

1-1 away at the mackems.
Happy with a point. Open game and chances at both ends. Be delighted with a top ten finish after a slow start.
Keeps it alive for Barnsley and pompey with one game in hand gone.

Fantastic stuff from Burton in the last two games against Sunderland and Barnsley, much appreciated. Now make sure you head off on your summer holidays before Luton come to town in the penultimate game of the season.

Too far off. 4 points behind and played a game more. You have left it too late in my opinion..
Running out of games.

It can happen, especially as Sunderland still need to play Donny, P'boro and Pompey. We'll just need to pretty much win all games, and we've only lost once this year you know!

Burton done us a good service over the past 2 games there! Makes a draw on Saturday a pretty decent result (although as above have a sneaky suspicion this crazy run ends on Saturday!)

Bloody hope that the away at Burton in the penultimate game of the season doesn't have much riding on it!

I’m thinking it’s not going to matter by that point.

Yeah, we didn’t play particularly well. Haven’t for the last few weeks in all honesty but that’s my point, we’re finding ways to win ugly now when we would normally labour to a draw.

These play-offs do have the potential to be something special.

Thanks Burton.. made 2nd place somehow look like a possibility for Pompey, especially as we still have to play Sunderland.

Burton do play some good stuff it has to be said, hope they continue like that for their home game against Portsmouth next week.

Finally back in 2nd, hopefully we'll make more work of keeping this position than earlier in the season.

Really tough game away at Charlton tomorrow and for the first time in quite some time we have a few selection issues through injury and suspension, so not ideal preparation. Collins obviously suspended, Lua Lua potentially injured and Hylton also something of an unknown in terms of his fitness, we have a few issues up front for the game. Lee is also very off form of late, so we could potentially have a totally new attacking trio playing tomorrow.

As ive said before, had this one circled as the one where the run might come to an end for a little while now, id be pretty pleased to come away with a point!

Hi guys.

First time posting here. Shrewsbury Town fan.

Can’t see us winning tomorrow so will say 1-1 at Gillingham or a narrow 2-1 defeat.

Ever the optimist....lets go 1-1.

Ricketts Out.

Whisper it quietly, but we could in theory be promoted next Saturday at the earliest opportunity.

I also didn’t realise that Luton are the first team in 125 years to go 28 games or more unbeaten in the season after promotion. The last team was Liverpool in 1894.

So just 5 games to go for most teams and every one of today's fixtures has something riding on it. What a time to be alive!

I don't think anything less than maximum points from our last 5 games will see us promoted automatically.

The local ITV news did a nice little slot on us last night. It had a few shots of training from yesterday and it looked like McCormack was out there which would be good as he would come in very handy today, been noticeable that whilst Pelly has played well there the 2 centre halves havent looked quite as comfortable in the last few games. There was no sign of Lua Lua or Hylton in it though which is perhaps a little bit of a concern. Could be a bit of a weird looking team for us today, especially in the attacking third. Not exactly ideal when Charltons defensive record of late has been excellent.

We are missing Marquis along with one other starter from last Saturday and still no word on whether Kane and Whiteman are close to a return so today is going to be even more of a struggle than it was going to be

We're going to be without our starting RB and LB today. We will have to play a CM at RB and no clue about LB. We've been killed by injuries this season.

Add those injuries to the fact we're absolutely shite means today will not be a good day.

Ten years today since LTFC were relegated from the Football League. Today we could hit that magical 90 point mark to get to the Championship.

FWIW I’m absolutely gutted I can’t get there today. I’ve actually been on the road almost constantly since Oct 1st which seemed to coincide with this wonderful form.

Already some of the play from Charlton is high quality.

Edit: Charlton 0-1 Luton
Harry Cornick

Awesome finish!
