I think we’re getting better. Tuesday night will be a tough game though
Don’t think it will be on,manager Watson got covid and game postponed today due to player having symptoms. At this rate we will not finish season.

That was sensational. Absolute shite opening twenty minutes and really believed Kiddy would hammer us but we pulled it together. When McClure got that second there was only ever going to be one winner, the free kick from Young was unreal. Worthy winner of any game, second time in 2 seasons we've done this to Harriers now.

Despite all the crap we've had this week with old cockney wide boy trying to play games and players fucking off we're still sitting pretty at the top. Get in

3 (currently). Asante (fee) and Carline & Whittle who both essentially went on strike. Gateshead away it was well reported he was contacting players. First game Carline faked injury and didn't play.

He also took advantage of COVID and took Asante from us then tried to take Taylor but we played hardball and he had to pay a fee but he tried the same trick.

Shouldn't worry too much ~~ I doubt there will be any relegation from Step 2 again this season.

I don't think so either nobody is coming up from the Northern Premier League its postponing all fixtures up to and including Saturday 6th March since there is no suggestion that the national lockdown will be lifted prior to this date.

Sad day for us next Tuesday last game ever at Bootham Crescent and behind closed doors, plus to make matters worse it’s against AFC Plastic just to prove the level we are at,would of been nice to play an ex league team (Chester,Hereford Darlo etc) for old times sake.

It certainly is quite sad to see a fantastic ground like Bootham Crescent to disappear of the football ground map.
Won't be the same anymore visiting York without Bootham!

Whittle plays in the same position as the lad you've signed from Chester so who knows. Rowe will no doubt sign another 5 or 6 or so within the next 2 months for you, it's a constant conveyor belt with him at the helm.
I hate managers who can only sign players that they know. Lazy style.

He’s only signed 3 from 7 I think that he’s worked with previously I think. More than I thought we would but we’ve got a good scouting/recruitment network under the new board now that will help us long term

Liam Daly has had an offer from Barnet, his old Solihull boss Tim Flowers now there of course. Big loss in the dressing room should he go, which I expect he will as by all accounts the wages offered far exceed anything we can come close to. But he's 33 and with players running at him at pace really struggles, but in the air is dominate and has a huge presence on the field.

As expected Daly to Barnet now official. Harrison is a good replacement but we could do with another CB for cover.

Funny you should said that..I heard we might be about to pinch 2 of your players.
I still think their is legs in the 2nd one coming in, despite the "war" it would cause between the two clubs as your chairman put it

This happens all the time in football rightly or wrongly.
Sunderland took manager, assistant manager, coach our best striker and centre back, plus midfielder and 2 youth team players and office staff. Two weeks before start of season and left us with 2 players.
Asante is a class player,Carline I don’t have a clue about but Alex Wittle he was absolute crap for us,good at tackling but his crosses and final ball is a joke, standing joke with York fans in 2 seasons saw him get 1 assist.

Was there a legal agreement in place between the two clubs? Gunning, despite being poor/injured for most of this season, seems to be doing things the right way currently at least. He's not "pulling a Carline/Whittle" which would make Chesterfield signing him, until his contract expires, unlikely under the agreement unless they offer a transfer fee that is accepted.

We received a fee for manager Denis Smith but rest went with him, this after beating Arsenal and taking Liverpool to a replay and winning old div 3.
We received 100K for Marco Gabbiadini but only because he was 1 of the 2 players still signed on for start of new season.

What's the crack with Gunning? When I said we were potentially signing 2 of your players last week he wasn't in the two names I was given, Whittle was, but Gunning's name keeps cropping up now.

Not exactly an inspiring signings on the face of it.

The 31 game winning run we're about to go on.

Will be based on expected goals i assume. We've only really lost by the odd goal at home this season and on top of that we put 6 past Blyth so our home goals scored won't look too bad compared to goals conceded. Then away from home have put 4 past Guiseley, 3 past Curzon, 2 past Alfreton. Up to yesterday our only losses away from home were Fylde 1-0 and then Brackley 2-0 who both had the better home records in the division and again only by the odd goal so will probably give us a statistical chance of beating most people away from home at the moment.

I have a spreadsheet that works in a similar way and it's still predicting we'll finish 4th based on expected goals. Always need to wait until atleast the 20 game mark before they kick out any sort of relevant predictions. Not that I hope its wrong.

Chester currently finishing 7th in my model on 74 points. Beating AFC Fylde to the final play off place by +3 goal difference.

Want to point out this isn't how I think things will finish, its a statistical model that takes results so far and uses them as a basis to predict future results. Ideally you'd want all teams to have played about 20 games this season for it to provide a more reliable final table. But Christ knows when that will actually happen so here it is.

If anyone is particularly interested in how it works, it uses league results to ascribe each home team and away team an attacking and defensive score by taking their scoring and defending records and dividing them by the average number of goals scored or conceded per game in the league. Each team is then given a 'rating' by multiplying their attacking threat, by the oppositions defensive score, by the average league goals scored per game. Once each team has a rating you use a Poisson distribution to understand how many goals its likely each team will score. The most likely number of goals each team will score gives you the most likely result. It's how a fair amount of spread betting tips etc operate. Obviously every time there is a new round of fixtures and results then the attacking and defensive strengths change, predicted results change and the final predicted table changes.

That’s very interesting I do feel that if we finish a place ahead of Fylde we will finish higher than 7th which is down to them finishing in the top four I think.

Yeah I’d go out on a limb and say we’ll be top 3. We’re improving and the games I’ve watched only Boston really have somewhat stood out. They battered us first half, I remember commenting at half time on here. Second half we took control and won the game. I don’t want to come across arrogant but anything other than promotion and we’ve underperformed. I mean how many teams in this division are full time. Our budget got slashed but should surely be top 2/3 in this division. I’ve heard York’s is a lot bigger but that’s it

Wouldnt say thats out on a limb. Only 4 full time sides in the division and id imagine Gateshead and Kidderminster budgets are closer to that of the well funded part timers than to yours and York's. Add to that you're signing form players from teams for cash. In reality it should be a straight fight between you and York for the title.

Gloucester's good start has got them in the picture (to be seen whether they can maintain it once Gloucesterfield are done with them) and Boston look strong and nasty so think they'll be up there in the top 4.

I didn’t know there was 4 full time teams. Who are they? And I agree with everything you’ve said

Jesus if they predicted that they must be deluded ~~I'd be pretty much happy with this fairground ride of a season to finish in the top half.

Gateshead have signed Blair Adams and Dillon Morse on initial 28-day loan deals from neighbours South Shields.
