We have Bradford as our last pre season game 1st round carabao cup......Evatt will play his strongest team
The fact it is a cup game and not a run of the mill pre season game is ideal for both teams

Eh, we’re playing you in pre-season?

If so, I can see that being cancelled now.

We're away at Salford this afternoon.

Appleton and Neville are mates but I'm not sure why we're travelling across there!

Ohhhh, I see!

You’ll get spanked, mush.
Be a ideal last game...Think we will be ready to go......You do what you say and you will go on to have a good season.....I think you are one of the teams who are weaker than last season unfortunatly.

Im not so sure. We haven’t finished our business this window yet.

We had a lot of stragglers last season. Our defence is proven to be solid, but we are in need of a RB. We definitely need a striker and another winger and we’re almost there.

Salford versus Lincoln just popped up in my YouTube recommendations, it appears to be live streamed...all quiet as I post this...but there is a commentary, second half should be up soon if anyone is interested:

Lost 4-3 to Doncaster Rovers this afternoon. Kurtis Guthrie x2 and Billy Clarke the scorers.

Pleasing that we’re finding the back of the net, but we appear to be shipping a few anorl. I think their goals came at the end of the game when we had a few youngsters on.

That sounds familiar. We’re playing Man Utd U23s tonight. They’ve requested a media blackout!

We've managed to get an agreement with Spurs to let us stream our friendly tomorrow with their U23 team for free - The JE3 Foundation Cup. 7pm kick off on our youtube channel for those that fancy watching.

Our friendly away at Northampton on Saturday will also be streamed for free on the Cobblers Youtube channel as well.

We streamed ours Saturday against Blackpool but Fleetwood refused to let us today and wanted minimal media coverage bizarrely... did put highlights up (played at their training ground) stunning goal from Conlon for our first. Our high press looks to be working as two of the three we’ve scored so far in pre season have been from dispossessing high up.

Got Rochdale at some point but no idea when or where, assume we will play another side at some point as still well over two weeks until the season starts!

Wouldn't be the first time a clubs supporters have come down to this division acting Billy Big Bollocks indeed I think on our relegation here the time before the last one some of us Vale fans might have been a bit guilty of that myself included. Nothing will quite bring you down to earth than when you get battered at home by Morecambe or in our case back then a 4-1 loss at home to Macc.

Boltons biggest challenge will be the fact they have an almost entirely new squad so getting them ready to play like the league 2 Man City will be near on impossible. That is why I actually fancy our chances over them as we've gone down the continuity route, all the players know the system already and whats expected of them so once they've built up fitness should be in a decent position.

Ive quickly scanned this thread but this is a top comment . We have only ever spent one season in this division (yes I was there), Total unknown quantity now, like last time when we got thumped 4-1 by newly promoted Scarborough . Some may see us as a big fish to be scalped, some will shut up shop , others wont give a 5H1t and just go for broke. This is a brand new learning curve for us and lets see how we do . Id much rather be quietly confident , talk is cheap, lets brag after weve done it not before . Last time we won the first division we still got battered 5-2 by southend and went on a 6 game winless streak .
Better to let people think you are an idiot than to open mouth and prove them right . And Either way br gracious in defeat and victory , Its English football after all .

We beat Great Wakering 4-0 tonight Humphrys X2 Kinali and Demetriou with the goals. 2 different 11s for each half so many kids playing. Our midfield is terrible and needs strengthening massively on the wings

Yesterday was probably Salford's template for the season.

Effectively play 2-4-4, throw bodies forward but very exposed at the back. How we did didn't score 4 or 5 I don't know (well, currently having one striker who isn't a prolific goalscorer is the reason!). At the other end, it was no surprise that their only chance fell to Henderson and he scored it. He'll make a huge difference to them this season I imagine.

watched a bit of it. Thought both teams laboured. Lincoln i could understand as it was there first game.
Henderson could have scored two headers in the bits i watched
Salford looked slow in defence
Think Lincoln will get better....not to sure about Salford

It'll be interesting to see how long Salford stick with Alexander - he's their Achilles heel in my eyes.

If they persist with him then they won't go up. If they replace him with a competent manager they'll be right up there.

Drew 1-1 at Gateshead. Kayode with the opener for us.

None of the triallists currently at the club featured in the game. Fryer admittedly won't be a priority since we have two contracted keepers already, but the other two, Mondal and Furman were also absent and we didn't seem to have the usual bench containing all other players that you have for friendlies, just the seven.

Tonked Melksham 6-0, clearly we'll be going up automatically this year.
I have seen the goals and there was some tidy finishing, nice to see a shot from outside the box...maybe that will be the change for the season ahead...can't wait to see what we look like once Jamille Matt starts playing.

We've got a game at Melksham tonight, according to them anyway. The bar at the ground will be open, but you wont be allowed to go outside and watch the football.

Our club media team have decided to give games minimal coverage and not reveal kick off times as they seem to think our fans might turn up in large numbers and try and force our way into the grounds or something.
I wonder if the announcement yesterday changed that? Yet to see any official confirmation of what happens when a team below Step 6 hosts a team higher up in a PSF.
