It was a friendly - anyone who reads anything into pre-season results wants their head testing.
if we got beat 3-0 we would have been slaughtered.....we have Wigan midweek....Beat them and it will be they have no team. Bradford in Caraboa cup next weekend Beat them it will be only meaningless cup game
Forest Green first lge2 game Beat them it will be youve only won one game dont get carried away

Our pre-season results last year - as you can see, pre-season results mean less than nothing.

Take the 7-0 defeat away was obviously your reserves...average results lead to average to good season

I know what you're saying here masi51 but si robin is right about paying attention to results in friendlies. We've all been there. Thrash a good side in a friendly getting your hopes up and then struggling all season.

I am getting my hopes up because its a new dawn. Had 5 seasons of dross bar one. Evatt come in and breathed new life into this club. Each days training is available to view on you tube. You only need to hear him speak to buy into his vision. So far so good

Yeah, a cracking defeat to Southern League Stratford Town and scraping a draw against Conference North Hereford.

They foretold a playoff finishing season.

Beat Cleethorpes 3-0, all first half goals from Williams, Green and Pollock. Williams' sounded like a decent freekick.

Lost 1-0 to Northampton, gave ten players 90mins. Despite having a good amount of possession we was a bit wasteful today I thought in the final third.

That was on YouTube so I watched a bit of that as well. Both teams look tidy. Chris Lines was bossing it a bit for them during the 15 or so mins I saw but otherwise you looked alright, well organised.

We drew 2-2 at FC United, which according to our forum means relegation is a certainty.

Result aside, I still think we're 2-3 players short for the start of the season.

Watched the Mansfield v Rotherham stream and I thought Mansfield looked tidy in the first half and should have led.
It was a comfortable 3 0 to the Millers in the end but a good run out for both teams.
We have Icky, Olosunde, Sadlier, Vassell and Ladapo all injured so that should improve us hopefully.

We lost 3-0 at home to Warrington which was... erm... unexpected.

Yeah I did as well, though I was planning on keeping this to myself, for obvious reasons ;)

Agreed on the O's, they looked alright though obviously they were helped by Cobblers taking off their better players. Also, if you do not give the youngsters a chance to shine in a meaningless PSF then when are you planning to? I'm referring to Embleton of course. Unless he only had 12/13 players at his disposal?

Having said that, I think their back line is still as shaky as it was last year, and up front, they still tend to over complicate matters when presented with a decent chance.

We had 8 subs but Ross gave ten of the team 90mins, including James Dayton - probably the first time he's completed 90mins for us!

Fair assessment on ourselves, on our day we will cause teams problems but we can be hit and miss when it comes to taking chances. Scored 3+ in a game at least 5 times I think last season, but also fired a few too many blanks.

We go into coast mode far to easily when we we're leading as well, which is why we ship lots of goals, plus we're weak in the full back areas.

Latics beat Forest first team 2-0.

Youngster brought in from Wrexham, Davis Keillor-Dunn, has scored in all 3 friendlies.

Nice of Orient to stream their game stops us having to send any scouts.

In our first 3 pre-season games we lost to Crewe 2-0 last Saturday, drew 0-0 with Wolves U23's on Tuesday and then beat Shrewsbury 1-0 Friday.

Bit weird.. Masi gets shit cause most he says is a wind up but saying 3-0 win bodes well is fair. If you don’t say that the what’s the point in the thread

It's because - and I really don't think I can stress this enough - friendly results mean fuck all!!

A week before the Premier League restarted after lockdown Norwich beat Spurs 2-1 at the Tottenham Stadium.

When the Premier League restarted, Spurs' record was top 3, whereas Norwich didn't win a single game.

The point of this thread is to talk about trialists, etc...
