Jim O’Brien our latest to sign a new deal, just waiting on Kelly-Evans now. I’d have released him pre-Burchnall but he was very good end of the season, really missed him in the play-offs. One of those who is good for the dressing room culture and all of that stuff as well.

Did you have a lot of loan players last year or just let a load go ? Would of thought you would keep the vast majority of the squad if possible
We had 4 loanees in the squad at the end of the season. We released eight players but two were youth teamers who never played a first team game and two players who had been injured for the entire season. So really only 4 who played and all of them were bit part squad players.

Unfortunately we can rarely afford to offer more than one year deals so any hint of a decent season and half the squad buggers off to bigger clubs. We've lost Covolan to Vale and Cameron to Notts already. We've still got contract offers on the table for Whitfield, Nemane and MacDonald. As the days tick by it seems less likely they will sign though.

It is and is common across many clubs. I'm sure Ryan Reynolds's gin business is one of your sponsors already?

He sold Aviation gin, but part of the sale was that he'd be the face of the brand for 10 years

I'm not sure what the benefit to the club is of their sponsor being owned by their owner. I see the benefit for the owner. I suppose it helps you get around thinga likee FFP, like with FGR and Ecotricity

Well as our incomings are complete apart from a backup GK which I’d expect to come in within the next few weeks… I might aswell give a bit of an update on how our squads looking for the season.

I still expect a few outgoings, and Rowe has alluded to this recently, so those with a * are players I think could possibly leave…

GKs:
Scott Loach

Centre Backs:
Gavin Gunning
Laurence Maguire
Fraser Kerr
Hayden Hollis
Jamie Grimes

Wing Backs:
George Carline
Jeff King
Calvin Miller
Joel Taylor
Alex Whittle*

Centre Mids:
Manny Oyeleke
Curtis Weston
Jak McCourt
Martin Smith

Attacking Midfielders:
Jack Clarke
Liam Mandeville
Tom Whelan* (Really hope not)
Joe Rowley*

Strikers:
Danny Rowe
Akwasi Asante
Tom Denton
Stefan Payne
Nathan Tyson
Kairo Mitchell*

So that’s 25 players currently onboard, but I reckon we’ll end up rolling with around 21/22 come the first game. Very happy with the squad in all honesty, great competition for places across the board.

Should be aiming for top 3 without a doubt, but won’t be easy given the strength of the league next year.

Etihad Airways and Man City are another example.

Not much of a contrast, then , with the Shots squad…

Updated Squad:

Back up keeper needed and probably a left centre back as I hear Jamie Stott his on trial at Chester at the moment.

Midfield looks fairly sorted although I wouldn't be surprised to see Lois Maynard leave and if the rumours of Ben Barclay from Accrington are true that would further weaken Lois' place in the squad.

Also need another striker or maybe 2. Definitely 1 needs to be a target man to replace Bennett

Goalkeepers
Ben Hinchliffe

Defenders
Sam Minihan
Macauley Southam-Hales
Ash Palmer
Liam Hogan
James Jennings
Mark Kitching
Jamie Stott
Ryan Rydel

Midfielder
Jordan Keane
Lois Maynard
John Rooney
Ryan Croasdale
Will Collar
Elliot Newby
Connor Jennings (long term absentee)
Ben Whitfield

Strikers
Alex Reid
Paddy Madden

Still a while until the season kicks off but seeing it like that really concerns me. Expect we’ll re-sign the likes of Lyons-Foster, Fowler and Harry Pan, then we’ll have to hope Danny has a few gems up his sleeve.

Wouldn’t be shocked if we were interested in Stott. Wild coached him at Oldham. We have just given a new contract to Tom Bradbury who’s a left sided centre back so possibly not.

I think Barclay is more of a centre half for Accrington.

I want a big, quick striker who will run the channels. We need more speed up there. He doesn't really have to prolific, just chip in, Madden is the main finisher.

GK, CB, CF for me needed. Maybe another forward based on the Connor Jennings situation.

Maynard out and a replacement in would be a bonus.

We are now at:

Goalkeepers:
Sam Slocombe
Tiernan Brooks*
Jake Kean**

Defenders:
Richard Brindley
Connell Rawlinson
Alex Lacey
Kyle Cameron
Adam Chicksen

Midfielders:
Jim O’Brien
Frank Vincent
Ruben Rodrigues
Callum Roberts
Michael Doyle**

Forwards:
Kyle Wootton
Lewis Knight
Elisha Sam
Tyreace Campbell*

*Youth team graduates, unlikely to play much.
**Player coaches, unlikely to play much, if at all.

Pretty happy with how we look apart from the glaring holes in central midfield and at left wing back. What we have is good, but we need to find the same quality in those areas to be title contenders.

Agree about Maynard and Stott but Barclay even though he’s played as a DM is a CB by trade.

Tom Denton has been made available for short term loan following his injury that he had last year

Will definitely end up somewhere in this division

Our squad still remains short of a few players yet .Difficult to judge how many players we might sign as nothing is coming out of the club to suggest who we are interested in

Matching back up with his brother Simon at Halifax?
Nah, they had a fall out and Tom left, said he's never coming back as long as Simon is still here. We're not bothered coz Simon is the better player. :ds:

So following our first 2 signings our squad is currently:

GK:
Sam Johnson

Centre Backs:
Neill Byrne
Niall Maher
Tom Bradbury
Jay Benn

Wingbacks:
Jack Senior
Dom Tear

Midfielders:
Luke Summerfield
Kieran Green
Harvey Gilmour
Martin Woods
Kian Spence

Attackers:

Jake Hyde
Billy Waters
Jamie Allen
Matt Stenson (Injured till November/December)

Wild has said he wants a squad of 20-21. Currently got 16. For the time being, he's closing in on a centre back and looking at 3 trialists when pre-season training begins. Also mentioned we may look at a loan signing towards the end of pre-season.

Guessing the positions we need filling are:

Backup GK
CB
RWB
LWB
ST (Probably a loanee to cover for Stenson whilst he's injured)

Add Dion Kelly-Evans at right back, signed a new deal today. A bit of a relief that, good to not have another position to have to look for. Very solid and consistent, hopefully Burchnall can improve him going forward.

Heard your lot got kicked out of a pub in Bangor after reacting badly to chants of 'you let your club die' from the locals

No that was a load of bollocks didn’t happen.
Indeed, proven to be completely fake news created by some Wrexham fan who like a lot of them still have eyes more on us than their own club, despite what's going on over there.

I think you need to look a bit closer to home. There is a single thread about Chester on RP that was last commented on in March, whereas I've just checked and you've got 3 currently active threads about Wrexham on Deva Chat- one about our manager and two in off topic.
