On paper, this is another superb signing and puts us well & truly into the mix to challenge for the Play-Offs.

Really happy with the squad, just need an additional CB and we are done I think.

Tough game vs Banbury tomorrow like, they aren't no mugs & I would be buzzing to see us come away with 3 points.

According to their website they still have places on the coach and you can travel in comfort with our travel-partner Heyfordian on a double decker coach. I say posh or what we'll have to be polite and well behaved :shut:

It'll no doubt be a tough match they steamrolled their previous league by a country mile. Already beaten Fylde easily and drew with Boston so that tells us what we are up against.

It'll be a massive result for us if we can grab a decent win. I think our team's good enough to do the business.

Kettering home today.

Right off back of that huge unexpected morale boosting win midweek which we desperately needed, really need to capitalise today on it and get another win.

No clue what to expect from Kettering as it was decimated in summer but started ok.

Win, loss or draw one thing I fee we need to show is to start dominated home games again, we were doing that all home games until January then it died a death, always think you have to produce at home where can.

In case anybody is confused, the Brackley you guys "loved" to play against over the last five years is no more! Even allowing for ten men from seven mins in, nowhere near the quality of the recent vintage. Wilkin has a massive job on his hands. The veterans are aging, and the new kids have some ability but aren`t going to replace Ndlovu and Lowe in particular overnight, if at all.

Surprised we haven`t gone for like for like replacements, but maybe nobody likes living in leafy Northants. Could be a long winter.

Very surprised(pleasantly) to come away from Boston with a 4-1 win and a penalty miss in the bargain. Didnt see that coming still need a striker urgently to replace Sampson. On to a home game v BPA next.

Alfreton 4-0 Southport

Strange game. Defending the slope at Alfreton is always difficult, and we found ourselves doing this first half. For most of the first half we were the better team, stretching Alfreton's back line and being very much on the front foot, then defensively we just seemed to switch off. Their first goal was a pea roller into the bottom left corner that 1) their player should never have had the time to do, and 2) should have been saved. We stood off again for their second goal, but thus time it was a cracking finish, a turn and volley into the top right corner. Next up was a free header from 6 yards just before half time and it killed us.

Second half I hoped that with the slope and the positive play from the first half that we might be able to claw our way back into the game. My hopes were misplaced, we were pathetic, Alfreton battered us. Their goal came from a long throw that Mason flapped at, leaving an easy far post tap-in. Denton pulled one wide from close range when easier to score, and Mason made a good save with his foot in a one-on-one situation. Meanwhile we barely threatened, with perhaps one cross which caused them some problems.

No shots on target today, and we have the second worst defensive record in the league after the side that gifted us 5 goals on the opening day.

I can't be bothered to comment on our match I'm too depressed.

Hopefully we can put things right (with injuries) in time for Saturday's match against 'The Pride of County Durham'

Gotta mention Banbury's away flags, first-class...

Quite an even first half at Blyth but second half we fell to pieces, conceding an absolutely ridiculous goal where the keeper and Digie (who has been superb all season but had a howler today) didn't talk to each other. 12 hour journey to see us barely muster a shot on goal. The inconsistency of this team is frustrating beyond belief.

Completely screwed over by the officials again. The standard of them has never been as bad as it is now.

We weren't good or bad really, distinctly average but deserved a point.

Peterborough are an awful rabble that can just get straight in the bin. Got no time for them at all and they have absolutely no fans, I think we even outnumbered them (segregated) despite the 4 hour trip down there.

What the hell has happened to Boston? Even worse start than Scunthorpe!
Our best players were either let go or were loanees. We've basically signed Ketterings team from last year that were moderately successful playing on a cabbage patch

More or less exactly how I saw the game too to be fair. Nothing in the game til the first goal for me, no real chances at either end. 2nd goal knocked the stuffing out of you and the 3rd right on half time completely killed the game.

If it's any consolation, I imagine a lot of teams will have issues dealing with Denton/Rhead aerially this season, and Alfreton should score plenty of goals as a result of the pair being in the side.

Shocked none of us have mentioned AFC Fylde’s poor start to the season.

According to a couple of their fans they “are really poor defensively”

They've no need to worry. They are playing us next and we are very generous to teams that are having a bad run.

Lots of the good feel vibe with the new training facility, new manager and the biggest squad we've had for years are evaporating fast. All the defensive frailties we had last season remain and up to 8 players out injured. I hope we can sort things out quickly. I think there will be a few surprise teams challenging the top places this season.

But for a last gasp goal at Alfreton that shouldn't have stood and two Adam Thomas goals that were wrongly chalked off for offside on Saturday, we would have been five points to the better. Yes, our defence is a bit shakier than I would like, but it does show signs of promise and it has been without Liam Edwards in the middle and I also think that Lewis Earl is a big miss.

They will end up fine, as will Boston. Harsh reality is they can bring in entire new defences during the season and the current ones just vanish never to be heard of again.

It’s the smaller clubs here must get it right by August because other than some loaners and odd cast offs their side won’t change.

Farsley away next, will be a tasty game after last season because Lakeland isn’t at all popular. Seen a random farsley fan posting on Facebook calling Curzon a dark force of evil with curzon season ticket holders worshippers of satan…..certainly interesting.

If you're referring to the 2nd Alfreton goal ~ it was over the line (I have photographic evidence). There was however a foul on Williams which should have been penalised, but was not.

I hope Fyldefan wasn't one of them. He once said 'I think we'll win the league'

They've just got Danny Rowe back from Chesterfield on loan until January 1st.

Dirt performance again. McClure missed a penalty (saved, a poor attempt really). Far too many going through the motions again Brackley thoroughly deserved winners. Pressure is on for Mansell now

Sounds awful blaming refs every week, but we've genuinely been completely robbed in three games already this season.

They sent an assessor this week to meet with our manager and they've admitted they've been wrong on all of them and they've cost us. Six points over three games I make it.

Well, no good when you get idiots like the one we got today wrongly sending two of our players off.

Shambles.

Not necessarily, they've been atrocious on numerous occasions over the last season or so.

I've read another useless moron was in charge of our game at Spennymoor where all hell broke out and he lost control of the game.

You have my sympathy for these imbecile officials..

They are worse than ever, never known them to be quite this bad. They say it levels out in the end but we're owed a season's worth already.

Awful abuse of Adriano Moke yesterday from a sole Spennymoor fan calling him a monkey. Disgraceful.

Hopefully the little rat is found soon, arrested and charged.

Unbelievable that something like that can still happen. My experience of the North East is that they are among the nicest people in the country. This numbskull wants locking up.

I hope that little scrote gets spotted amongst the crowd and gets a life time ban.

Adriano doesn't need abuse like that, and nor does any other player whoever they play for.

Let's hope they catch the rodent and get him charged with racial abuse.
