Not entirely unsurprising defeat as we never beat QPR. Thought they were one of the better looking sides to come here so far this season, moved it nicely but for the most part felt we limited them up until Naismith gives the penalty away. Really bad decision on his part to dive in there, totally unnecessary. We’d had a decent chance through Campbell to put us 2 up and felt there’d be chances for us to come as they went chasing it but giving that penalty away really put pay to that.

Couple of nearly moments for us after that where passes weren’t quite right killing a chance but I did feel qpr felt the most likely. Still didn’t create much just felt more threatening and to be honest think we ran out of steam with 15 or so to go

Wouldn’t mind seeing the Adebayo offside goal again, looked tight but he’s not exactly careful looking across the line so wouldn’t surprise me. The annoying thing is chair should have been off for the fracas after the half time whistle. Clearly threw his hands into Lockyers face. Either the ref saw it and thought throwing your hands isn’t a red card anymore or he’s guessed. Got the penalty call right but had a poor game otherwise, so inconsistent

Weve ridden our luck in recent weeks picking up scrappy wins. Today it ran out. We are out on our legs second half lately and perhaps need to tone down the energy exertion in first halves as we struggle later on. Eli just dies last thirty mins and we have no replacement. Think he needs slightly better game Management by Jones and have a subs bench that allows to replace him, esp when Jerome plays who also finds a full game with oursstyle of play. Replacing Eli prob needs a whole flip in tactics rho and understand its a tough ask. We're just slightly short maybe.

Excellent game very tactical and as ever just cant beat QPR who are a few years agead of us in the curve but we are getting close. Undone by a pen and a superb corner. Other than that we limited them and created half xhances ourselves. Dust off go again but Management need to be slightly smarter with our strikers.

Unlucky with that winner - was probably offside but hard to see in real time.

Yours was handball but only counts if the goal scorer does it .

Don’t think the pundits got that .

Was probably offside but having seen it again probably a foul on Shea too. Hes perhaps a bit weak on it but hes being held, bit surprised the ref didn't blow up for that let alone the offside.

The pundits on sky were pretty poor, think the presenter was trying to lead them toward the right conclusion by reading the rules but ex-footballers think they know best! Think they had Mackie and Parkin to try and even it up but Parkin didnt have a good time here so it ended up being a bit dominated by Mackie who is obviously pretty partial to QPR. Handball rule is a total mess though so can somewhat understand why they didnt get it. McAnuff is probably the best of those pundits Sky trot out for EFL games.

Jones seemed more distraught than usual after a loss, wonder if hes a bit worried things will start to fizzle out after a bit of an indifferent week. Further midfield issues rearing up again as Pelly looked like he got a knee injury, given his reaction im wondering if its a bad one. Schedule has been brutal and it was noticeable today that we just ran out of steam in the second half. Just need to be getting through the next 2 to the international break and still be in touch with things and see where we get too i think but, and ive thought for a while, we are just a little bit short of being playoff calibre.

Was that Jones meltdown on three 'horiffic performances' a sly attack on the officials? Im used to bluntness and passion, not him being cryptic.

Even if we do Peter out its been an outstanding season. We will regroup and come again. We are a big little club getting stronger. I suspect at some point we will come up short and once we miss it could fall away fast. However what a foundation if we can keep it together for another season.

However for now lets push on and keep going and see what it brings. COYRRH

Probably!

Can see why he was frustrated.

Was a very frustrating day in a semi derby we just cant ever seem to win - wer'e used to winning derbies ;-)

We controlled a lot of the game but didnt dominate them, create enough or were clinical enough. They defended and countered that well. We have to stand up, take it on the chin, adjust and move forward. Not blame others. In the heat of the moment we all do, but lets hope they rise above, use it as motivation and turn it into a positive.

Tough League gonna be set backs along the way.

Luton away on Wednesday, I might as well just bet on draws in all of our remaining games, i'll almost definitely be up by the end of it.

Left wing back remains a problem area for us, Hughes and Earl both offer little from an attacking POV and Cunningham is still injured. I'd personally try Josh Murphy there now he's fit and available, Hughes provides enough cover for him to bomb on and cause problems.

I wouldn't mind seeing Browne given a spell on the bench so we can see more of what McCann offers, he's clearly a talent but he's just being wasted right now.

I could probably see Ched Evans coming back in for Riis.

You literally always draw with Cardiff I'm sure.
Lost our last 5 against them before this, bogey team lately.

Used to be the other way round, we twatted them at Deepdale without fail for years.

With regards left wing back issues, it may work in your favour if it’s only defensive type options because our right side is very much our dominant one in an attacking sense. James Bree is on that side and gets forward a lot to whip in crosses and has oft exploited over adventurous counterparts to good affect. Of course the opposite might also work in terms of pinning Bree back but if you manage to shut that right side down, it goes a considerable way to shutting us down as an attacking threat.

Interesting, maybe the back 5 will be unchanged then.

Playing a mid table side with nothing to play for should be perfect.......but i dont see Preston laying down or not caring. Lowe trying to build a side and a style so i forsee a tough game we will have to be in point for. COYRRH. Lets set the cat among the pigeons again

Either injuries or resting players at centre half tonight as looks like Potts and Kioso coming in to play centre half with Burke. Be interesting to see who will play the centre of those 3 as Burke is very much a ball carrier who usually plays on the right of the 3. Not sure it will suit him playing in the middle.

Absolutely classic Championship this, we've dominated this half but no final pass. They have two chances from two defensive mistakes and we're 2-0 down.

McCann has no idea how to play LWB, that's another one we can cross off in that position. There's only Cunningham who has looked capable.

We've gone to pot since going 2 down.

What were we saying about our right hand side? Not sure whose playing there but cannot defend at all. 3 crosses from there and 3 goals and we’ve not really had to work for it and could have had 4 if not for a good save from Bells header. PNE lots of possession but only created something when Burke pulled his hamstring and let the man through.

We are really down to the bare bones at centre half with Burke also off injured. 3 full backs by trade (albeit all have some experience of playing centre half) playing in the back 3. Conditions are terrible so you never know from a PNE point of view but so far so good. What the defence looks like after this game though - who knows

Ali McCann, young CM making his first start in that position and it shows massively

Worst game Iversen has had for us and it's probably a contender for one of the worst keeping performances i've seen in a long time.

The first shocking performance under Lowe but Luton have something to play for and they were up for it.

Missed big chunks of the game; seemed things went our way.

Nothing to lose now. Lets just let fly and see what happens. No expectations or pressure lije on almost everyone else for various reasons, but what a great spot to be in. COYRRH.

Fucking love my Football Club

Strange game really, played in a weirdly flat atmosphere too. Preston just couldn’t defend crosses or balls into the box at all, we put 4 good attacks together first half down the right and scored 3 goals off them. The rest of the half was them moving the ball nicely but no threat.

Second half Evans tried hard to give them some impetus but the hapless Iversen and Diaby combined to give us the own goal and that ended it really. Diaby had a real shocker as did the keeper but the latter I’ve seen be very good before so that was exceptionally strange too. One of those games where nothing goes right from Preston’s point of view, we had those against Birmingham this season.

Not sure what will happen defensively on Saturday, hopefully Lockyer and Naismith just have knocks rather than something serious otherwise it will look pretty makeshift. Up to 5th now, and even above Qpr again. Funny old league
