It’s been all Huddersfield this half but without creating chances so far .

Tiredness creeping into Luton’s game ?

Good game I felt and at 1-1 all to play for. Thought we were lucky first 10 seconds with the penalty shout, anything outside the the first minute or two I think he gives that.

We were dominat for the most part of the half after that but think that was the approach Huddersfield wanted really as we aren’t built to win that way I feel. Counter attack came from nowhere but as soon as we lost the ball we always looked vulnerable to it as they were excellent at playing out of the counter press we normally do so well. My angle i felt keeper shlikd have saved it but there’s more errors leading to the goal than that that also deserve equal levels of blame apportioned.

Super free kick for the equaliser well finished. We really needed to make that momentum following it count as we looked really tired in the second half. Cornick and Jerome ran into the ground so bit concerned what they look like for Monday. Huddersfield had the better of the play but I don’t think Ingram had much of at all to do.

All to play for and interestingly poised for
Monday. Feel they have to go for it being at home and we can maybe hang in the game which may suit us. But perhaps that’s my orange tinted spin!

Agree as ever with TFCH. Tough ask but far from over. We are much better with teams coming onto us, esp good ones, rather than us having to be on the front foot. Our away record is good and we can go up there and spoil the party.

If not. Hope they go up. Nice little side.

I think Jones needs to manage the levels of exertion through the game better. For a while now weve gone gung ho first half pressing and harrying non stop rather than in spurts. We then look like we totally run out of steam and get a bit swamped late in the games. We are knackered and carrying injuries and people returning when normally they wouldnt. Gotta be smarter.

Altho ironically maybe Monday is the time to leave it all out there with either a 2 week or two month break til next game

Going to be a tough ask from here with such a short turnaround. It’s all to play for, but genuinely some of those players looked truly fucked out there tonight. They are running on empty.

No point doing any training the next couple of days… get them in the ice baths and get them recovered.

Yep this is where injuries have really screwed us someone like Campbell would have been rotated a few times prior to tonight rather than doing full 90 mins every week. Ironically his “rest” only came because he himself got injured! Just had no depth for the most part of the season and it’s really hurt us in the last 30 mins of games like last night where we had nothing in the tank.

As an aside One player whose not featured despite all this is Mendes Gomes. Very very odd what’s happened there, came highly touted and with a decent goal record but seemingly not even used off the bench as a last resort. Strange one, If he’s not got a look in with the situation as is, you wonder if he ever will.

Anyway that’s for another day maybe our record away to top 10 sides is not good, only one win against Millwall and our playoff record also very bad so I’m not hugely confident but we won’t fail due to lacking effort

Anyone else a little bit baffled by the Playoff scheduling this year? League 1 finished a week sooner than the other 2 leagues for....some reason and already have their final sorted, League 2 seem to have an extra day between semi final home and away legs compared to the Championship games.

Doesnt seem a huge need to cram in the Championship games in such quick succession given the final isn't until 28th May so why not have a few extra days between games?

Its a bit of a moot point as all 4 Championship sides have the same break but why cram it in like that instead of doing what the L2 schedule is and take an extra day? That extra day would be huge for the situation we are in with players on the edge of what they can physically take.

Totally baffling with zero sense. Esp after this season with huge covid breaks and an early start next season due to a winter World Cup break.

PFA should be going bonkers for player wellfare so theres prob a good reason, but it beats me.

Or the PFA just don’t really care as long as they get their huge premier league payment?

I notice the league 1 games also had an extra day between semi final legs compared to the championship too.

I assume it’s a Sky thing due to the premier league games going on through the midweek but just seems totally bizarre to me to cram in these incredibly important games whilst the other 2 leagues are scheduled (in my view) far more sensibly.

Sky are showing Premier league games anyway though tonight and Tuesday.

They could have played them Thursday/Friday and had 2 play-offs games on at once or something.

So we recall Neufville from League 2. Bit strange. We playing mind games? Jerome injured? Jones feel Neufville might do better or in case we need to throw a kitchen sink or three at them? Maybe its risk cover as hes gonna go with Eli and double back up.

Whatever it is, whoever it is. Well done boys. Let it rip, go get em. COYRRH

Yeah a bit odd. Not sure recalling a player from a national league loan is necessarily mind games though, I doubt Huddersfield are predicating any tactical plans on Josh Neufville (no disrespect to the lad intended!)

Be very interesting to see what happens. We have been a 352 team for the better part of the season but on Friday that got exploited a bit especially in the second half. We went back to old faithful, the 442 diamond and it helped stem a bit of pressure and the game eventually ended in both sides sort of just cancelling the other out in that last 15 mins or so. I could see us starting with Naismith in midfield as the DM and a genuine diamond or moving to that very shortly afterwards depending on what Corberan has up his sleeve. Could be a cagey tactical battle like that second half was.

You could see that second half just what both sides are where they are as tactically both managers were so switched on to the situation and what the other was trying to do.

I do fear that this might be a bridge too far for us tonight though, thought we looked a bit dead on our feet Friday night and it’s not been much recovery time since them. Huddersfield looked the fresher and at home I think that will give them an extra yard on us perhaps. If Lansburys knock keeps him out it’s thin in midfield again and with how we play we need the legs there.

Sounds glib and slightly overly romanticised to say, additionally I think weve said it a lot but whatever happens happens tonight. I’ll still be unbelievably proud of this group of players and indeed this club for producing this season. No matter what happens it won’t be for lack of all the Intangible stuff. Skill and quality maybe but not effort.

Hylts in from the start. Need to change up how we deliver it up front today rather than long and high but i prefer his threat and hold up. Harry needs a big game. Need Campbell to be dominant too.

Definitely, lacking a focal point in attack with Jerome/Adebayo only on the bench. Not much to “make it stick” up top you might say. I’m thinking we are set up to park the bus a bit and try to get Cornick some run on the counter.

Feel like we needed that Cornick chance to go in. Can’t see this pace being kept up by either side, amazing first 20 mins but settling into a rhythm of Huddersfield dominating the ball now

Well what time say about that. Fantastic performance from us, full of everything we have been brilliant at this season, apart from the goal. We may yet love to regret not making it count but as above, proud of this and we won’t fail because of any effort issues as that first half shows.

Unfortunately those missed chances cost you.

Mind you Huddersfield will say they should have had a penalty too.

Oh well. Did ourselves proud. Should have won tonight but just a bridge too far in the end. Always had that doubt that the dominance we had which went unconverted we would be punished for. If it’s a fit Adebayo who gets those chances Harry had, maybe it’s a different story. But not to be.

A brilliant season with an unfortunate end

Should have made your first half dominance count with a goal or two.
