Another Naismith error for a goal I think today for Bristol City. Think his weakness are being exposed by Pearson and how he’s playing whereas NJ managed to accentuate his positives. Shows that whilst formations can be the same or similar outcomes can be drastically different dependent on whose playing g those roles and how they are deployed. Obviously only seen highlights so perhaps a poor view in and of itself but that back 3 Bristol City looked all at sea today

You had 4 pea rollers from outside the area. The only threat you offered was from long throws and set pieces but we dealt with them comfortably. Therefore, you offered no threat.

We spurned two one on ones when your keeper did well and then clipped the bar.

Only one team was going to win that game.
Your 2 one on one's and top of the cross bar bounce was all the same move. So would have only been 1 goal from it had one of those gone in.

But as you said with Wigan having 14 shots inside the box and the only team having chances the whole of the second half only Wigan were the team who was likely to win the match, apart from the 10 second double save Amos could have sat the rest of the game in a deck chair as there was 0 shots on target for the rest of the game.

You didn't have a clear cut chance, we had two.

It was a dire game and bar the couple of minutes when we should have scored before half time, no one was ever beating the keeper.

Some pretty selective highlights of our game yesterday, you’d think we had one attack all game and scored a goal off it!

Whilst we had probably the 2 best chances chances of the game, some pot shots from distance by Burnley given priority over those. Bit odd.

From sublime to ridiculous for Sarr and Watford tonight. Scores a superb goal from inside his own half and then waste a perfect opportunity to steal a totally undeserved win with a tame penalty attempt. West Brom really should have won it with the amount of chances they had. Jed Wallace continues to be a quality player at this level

Really did use a get out of jail card but in a bizarre way could have won too!

Work to do on the midfield and defence certainly.

We won't get away with that sort of performance too often.

The front 3 if you keep hold of them will cover a whole load of sins as they have huge quality. Dennis and Sarr in particular should not be plying at this level, the fact Sarr looks to be here for a second in his career season is silly really. Surprised he hasn’t tried to force a move or something yet.

But you are right, midfield and defence just isn’t right.

Yes maybe that is coming as we near the end of the transfer window .

Think we we want more than what clubs are prepared to spend .

We’ve only named 2 defenders in our team so no idea what formation we are playing. Hopefully a better outcome than last seasons penalty shoot out loss to Stevenage.

Not sure on the shape but beginning to feel slightly sorry for Mendes Gomes here. As read I assume he’ll be playing RWB tonight, since we brought him for relatively decent money by our standards im not sure we’ve actually played him in the position that he put in a good season playing for Morecambe.

We aren't in this round but wonder which lower league team will knock us out in the next round...

Hard not to play Fernandez & McCann tomorrow, but it's also difficult to drop Brady, and DJ. Brady looked effective on the right in his brief spell there against Hull, so could be an option.

Woodman
Storey, Lindsay, Hughes
Whiteman
Brady, McCann, Browne, Fernandez
Riis, Parrott
Thought test but we need to get 3pts on the board sooner rather than later. Can't be any worse than our last visit to Luton.

Going to be Interesting to see the difference from the game here earlier this year which we win 4-0 to now. Decent barometer for PNE I’d suggest as to how much improvement has been made over the summer period.

As for us whole sale changes from midweek obviously where I don’t think anyone who played really made a decent claim for a first team opportunity bar perhaps Lockyer. I think the team somewhat picks itself for this given that performance. Only small question would be up front and who partners Adebayo, Morris has looked quite lively in his appearances and Cornick and his pace off the bench could be useful.

Not quite sure how we held on !

But not complaining.

We’ll play better and lose games.

Burnley tried to over play at times I thought.

They are missing a cutting edge, largely control the play but not much effectiveness about, up to the red card limited chances created off all that. Twine maybe the wildcard to change that as I think he’s got genuine quality to change that albeit untested at this level. They definitey over play and despite what Sky seem to want to tell you, their are questions over Kompany as a manager. Wasn’t entirely successful at Anderlecht.

In a way Watford quite fortunate as didn’t create anything really of note themeselves. Haven’t played that well in either game this week and got 4 points, could have been lucky or perhaps the sign of a side who knows how to not lose when they have an off day.

They certainly have a different style but going by the games v us both need to be more clinical.

We had this last time - look good and solid in defence or the keeper play well then grab a goal often winning 1-0.

A half decent PL team would have scored 2/3 after the red card and probably before .

As we found our last season so often !

Conditions going to be a big factor in all games today I think. Not going to be many high pace, high intensity games about i would assume.

Not sure how that’s going to play in our specific case given we are all about energy, high pressing and winning the ball high up the pitch. Couldn’t think of a more different set of conditions than we had for the last of this fixture which if I recall was a freezing wind swept and rainy night!

Coventry had to call off another game today this time at Wigan. Turning into a very messy situation indeed, finger pointing all over the place from Wasps, Sisu, commonwealth games etc.

Seems blame could be apportioned to many parties all the while games are being postponed as mud is slung everywhere (literally perhaps in the case of the pitch!)

Coventry blaming Wasps who are denying that they have done anything wrong...

This could go on a while if no efforts are made to improve the pitch.

They have another home game next Saturday too.

When we had Saracens don't think there were issues but the pitch was bad - this was the modern day DESO pitches clubs have now.

Its insane to be playing in these conditions today. 36c is too high. I'm surprised the PFA haven't said anything.

You’d have thought so but they can’t really be described as a proper workers union can they!

Could be doing a heck of a lot more for there members on fixture congestion alone, 8 games this month with the temperatures as they are is just setting players up for injury, especially as the break between seasons has been short and the season itself congested with fixtures due to the World Cup.

Could maybe be advocating for playing these games later in the day or in the evening at least. Playing 3pm today is totally mad when you think about it

Watford sign Keinan Davis on loan from Villa. Was a big part in the Forrest run of form that almost got them automatic promotion despite a poor start. Good signing unfortunately I feel.

WBA have loaned Mowatt to Middlesbrough which seems an odd one, not sure Mowatt was going to get that much of a look for them this season but strengthening a probable promotion rival seems an odd one

Very compact team from us, Riis, DJ, and Woodburn on the bench for fresh legs late on. Parrott up top on his own, 4 centre mids.

Definitely dictated by the heat this afternoon.

Seems like Wasps told Coventry this would be an issue a while ago and to play their first few games away, Coventry say this wouldn't be possible as it isn't allowed... but Newport have played their first few games away twice in the past five years or so because of a similar issue.
