I know in the PL refs have been told to not be less fussy with giving free kicks for soft touches but not sure if that message has been the same in the Championship- seems not.

Mind you now Klopp and OGS have moaned about officials being too lenient that will probably change !
I really don’t understand how two different interpretations of the laws can be used by two divisions in the same system that feed into each other. I indeed thought it would be case after watching the first Championship game on the Friday… I was wrong.

Swansea goalie was lucky to stay on as well later I thought .

Yeah, there were defenders level with play but if he doesn't take Riis out, he pretty much has an open goal and the defenders are irrelevant.

As bad a referee as i've seen recently and there is lots of competition.

Thomas Brammall... Beware.

I'd take a wild guess, and say because it wasn't a penalty. Your forward barges the defender, knocks him over, and is then brought down by the falling defender. Where's the foul?
Riis gets goalside of him and the defender takes his legs, accidental or not, he brings down our striker in the box.

100% a foul.

Bristol City away, these guys are usually our bitches every season but they stopped our unbeaten run last season.

Still unsure how capable this current PNE side is on the road though, if they go a goal down then I fear its game over most of the time.

Would definitely take a draw.

Think we'll be unchanged as Josh Murphy has only played 80 minutes of competitive footy and was in the reserves yesterday, while Ali McCann will probably play the full 90 for Northern Ireland tonight. Hopefully DJ comes back from Jamaica's game unscathed and not jet lagged, if not then imagine Alan Browne will come back in who only played 60 minutes for Ireland.

Iversen
Storey - Bauer - Hughes
Van Den Berg - Ledson - Whiteman - Earl
Johnson
Riis - Maguire

Rudd, Cunningham, Browne, McCann, Potts, Murphy, Sinclair

Fancy us this time to be fair. We’re not the shambles we once were under Holden and the latter part of last season…

Having said that we haven’t won at home since January! It’ll come though, we should have beaten Swansea and Blackpool. Hopefully Saturday against you bastards.

We're still very much an unknown quantity so I won't be making predictions. Good in the last two games but toothless in the ones prior.

All been close though, even the Hull disaster was an even contest before we just collapsed. Think we'll just put that down as an opening day anomaly.

You should be winning this at home but as with most games, the first goal might be massive.

Up at Blackburn today after what i think was a much needed 2 week break for us with the internationals. Got some players back, a few of which have played in a training match already. Whether they will be match sharp and ready to go for today remains to be seen though.

We already have one of the centre halves back against Sheffield Utd in Burke who played well in that game so the player im hoping to see is Jordan Clark as we have been missing a bit of guile and invention from midfield that it was looking like he could be able to provide.

Felt we needed the time to just have time on the training pitch to sort a few things out, certainly balls in the box has been a big issue for us so hopefully we have had some time work that through. Gallagher is the big man for them who always seems to cause us issues.

They have made quite a few loan signings right up to the deadline so could have some extra quality to call on.

2 wins 1 loss 1 draw over the past 4 games against Blackburn
Don’t think there’s much difference in the two teams qualities at this moment in time…
We shouldn’t need to fear this one..
Reckon we’ll win by the odd goal

Seems we might not be having much luck this season, Bradley back, Potts back but no Onyedinma and no Adebayo, no Bell. Cant get out from under injuries at the moment - get some back and lose other big players.

As if to underline the above point - we have now had to replace Muskwe who was starting with Mendes Gomes shortly before kick off, which you assume will be due to another injury issues.

Plus no Muskwe from warmup injury and Clark not in the squad.

Shocking challenge.
It would be nice if we didn’t have a min of 3 players a game unavailable.

Thats the end of that. Looking very light up front. Jerome getting nothing out the centre halves, Cornick his usual all pace no touch or composure once he catches the ball and CMG looking lost

Luton don’t even deserve second place in this game at the moment.

Yeah this has been a shocker really. From our point of view dealt quite simple goals.

Probably being reactionary but im not getting good vibes at all at the moment about how things are going. Feels like every game we have some key players not available, we aren’t good enough to be without people like this.

You have those seasons where feels like nothing really falls for you and this is feeling like it’s shaping up to one of those at this point.

I was singing his praises in preseason but CMG looks totally lost.

We dont have the wherewithal or resources to lose as many players as we have today. We will be fine but need to find a way to create chances as we all know with no KDH type player we are pretty toothless

With how bad this whole day has gone (key injuries, the above red card tackle not being given, enforced early changes etc) you are tempted to write it off as a bad day.

But when you have already had 2.5 of those (today, Birmingham, first 70 or so mins at WBA where we got pasted), it begins to look more like actual problems to be honest.

And now Luton get a perfectly good goal chalked off for offside. He was about 2 yards onside.

Now a goal ruled out for offside when he was clearly a good yard on. Just had absolutely nothing go our way today

Luke gets one. Good for him. If only Jerome put his one on one away. Earlier goal rightly ruled out for a push not offside

Look so much more stable at the back with Capt Sonny back in the lineup.
