Deserved to lose, had enough chances to score 3 or 4, but means nothing. Good away job by Birmingham.

Picked the wrong team, got battered for sixty minutes, then brought on the players who should have been in from the start and won.

By the way, I loathe to criticise referees, it’s the easiest most boring excuse in the book to blame officials for your team’s struggles. But that ref not giving the most blatant pen I’ve seen in a long time on Shinnie at 1-1 was criminal. Thankfully it didn’t cost us. Prem ref my arse!

Sounds like we did a job on Luton today. Played a massively weakened team from the start, which was very strange. Luton expectedly dominated for 60 minutes. We held firm defensively only conceding once, defence was probably the only position we started most of our strongest.

Then sub in 3 key players at 62 minutes and most of the chances then fell to us, sub another couple of players likely to be regular players at 1-1 and score a late winner.

Genius in resting key players to bring on after 60 minutes against tired legs to then go all out and win or lucky and we won't be as strong defensively and be 2+ down in future games. Who knows, but I would rather see Shinnie, Aasgaard, Broadhead and probably Pearce another centre half for Tilt and potentially Scully as regular starters soon.

So good signs that we can probably get about 6 better players in our starting 11 and have 10 points from 7 games in what was a very tough run of fixtures, with the easiest games being played with either 10 men for 80+ minutes or a 35°c anything can happen match.

Wasnt a clear pen. Maybe last season not this. One step more inside and maybe.

Nice away smash and grab. Nice little side will comfortably survive. Only ourselves to blame with you having just one shot on target.

I’m still at a loss over how we lost that one. But in true Luton style, they shot themselves in the nuts.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree that the momentum was shifted by the 60 minute subs tbh. Probably a pretty sour thing to say but I really think it was more about what WE did than anything Wigan did really who up to the OG I really didn’t think showed much attacking intent in the game.

We unnecessarily weakened our midfield later than that by putting Woodrow back into midfield at 70 mins with what I thought was an unnecessary sub, Cornick and Jerome was overkill at that point Jerome should have come on for Morris and Berry for Freeman as a straight swap should have happened keeping Woodrow up top and 3 actual energetic midfield players in place. I didn’t like the balance of the midfield after that point but even in that intervening 10 minutes right up to the goal I don’t recall any chances created by Wigan that would cause alarm. The goal itself was particularly fortunate looking at it back. Once it went 1-1 though the tactical mistakes that went before it became more and more exposed and the outcome became quite obvious. Very annoyed because it felt like we shot our selves in the foot more than anything.

For the penalty shout on Shinnie, fwiw I thought it was a penalty too, was clumsy. Only thing I’d say is that the ref was very lenient all game though so it was at least in keeping with how he officiated the game, but yeah still a penalty for me.

So bored of this season already. We're just so shit. Feels like the past 5 years of hard work getting us back to this level is going to be completely undone this season and we'll sink back into the hell hole that is the lower leagues.

Early days but its a fickle and brutal league that doesnt let you sit on your laurels for more than a minute.

jhe10 Was at your game yesterday, good afternoon out, atmosphere in the pubs etc. despite the result. An owner wanting to bring fans to the game and charge reasonable prices... who thought that would work? When my City mate told me it was £20, worth going.

Yes, and fans coming back after the car crash that was the previous ownership. Crowds up by more than 5,000 this season.

Middlesbrough at home for us next . They looked poor on Monday but we looked even worse on the Sunday at Huddersfield.

Large away following and with our injury crisis I can see our poor home form continued.

No games this weekend as a mark of respect to the Queen which is very reasonable but strange that other sports are going on.

Maybe the football authorities thought all sports would stop but now they haven’t..

Guess everything will carry on as normal from next week .

They definitely went too early with that decision. Other sports have taken the decision to go ahead so they now look totally out of step. Personally think it’s a bit silly it was a consideration, i understand totally postponing or moving games for the funeral and the coronation when it happens but there’s nothing important happening tomorrow that needs to be stopped and respected. It was also an opportunity for people to actually show respect through minutes silences and maybe the national anthem at the game as a sign of unity if so desired. Not sure how people sitting at home twiddling thumbs or going to shopping centres is “respectful”

Everyone has had to work a normal day today so why cancel events people enjoy.

Away to Norwich on Wednesday.

We're on a roll at the moment and looking good - this game, and Burnley at the weekend, should give us a better idea of where our team is at the moment.

Bring it on!

Not confident about Burnley tomorrow, we have zero confidence in front of goal and I fancy Burnley to be in automatic contention.

Scabbing an early deflection or penalty would be nice.

Hopefully close to a 20k crowd, I assume they've sold out.

Another win on the road. Ten points from four games away from home now. Huddersfield, in big trouble. Had a strong ten minutes when they battered us, equalised and could have scored another two at least. Apart from that, terrible.

Coventry for us tomorrow. Looking at Jones pre match stuff he is very much still rattled by the Wigan game and the reaction/disappointment to how it went down. Think he knows he got it tactically wrong but he seems a bit sensitive/sore about it being pointed out! It happens, I think needs to get over it a bit though as that sort of thing can fester and create division.

I really don’t think we are that far off it, been a little unfortunate at home I think but do need to get a home wins under our belts sharpish as only so long you can say you are unlucky before it rings a bit hollow.

I see Jones has the temerity to feel aggreived at a few fans comments on his crap display v Wigan. He forgets how quick he sold us out and now wants to backdoor criticise at the first question marks, when all he has had is support.

I might have misread between the lines but he also seemed to have a pop at the subs display rather than his own (which he has in the oast to be fair) with his i never blame the players.......felt there was a silent but on the end.......

He needs a win tonight, but so do Coventry. Exactly the sort of game we come unstuck in. Would rather have one of the higher up boys visiting tonight

I imagine Luton fans will be feeling fairly aggrieved after that, dead cert of a penalty.

We were better than we have been but our defence still looks awful. A pretty scrappy game between two poor sides is how I saw it.

Another not really great performance really I felt. Defensively we didn’t really look sure of ourselves all night thought Potts and Bradley really struggled in particular. Not sure if Bradley is really fit but either way he looked considerably slower than he even did before!

Not bringing in a quality centre half this summer and relying on what we had having lost a flakey big piece of it all, might prove to be a mistake as we never looked secure at all imo. Have to assume Lockyer not fit as given the first half that both Potts and Bradley I half expected one to get the hook at half time for him let alone him not get on at all.

Morris goes from strength to strength is the highlight, really coming into his own as an all around forward. No one else really putting there hand up in attacking areas though is the real concern.

Nailed on penalty at the end I felt. If we scored it not sure it would be an entirely “deserved” the result but it’s frustrating nonetheless. Wonder if NJ will admit to some frailties tonight after his mini go at the fans prior to the game.
