Maybe we should play at 12 noon on a Sunday more often !

2 4-0 wins .

What a fantastic performance and atmosphere.

Pedro outstanding and the defence rock solid .

First goal no doubt helped settle us early whereas we fall apart once going behind .

NJ saying there was a sickness bug going around the squad. Hence had to change Lansbury and Potts fairly late on in the build up to the game.

Would explain why we looked weirdly passive throughout the game

He could just mention it once tho, not over and over and over. He has to get his threefold excuses in every time. He bangs on about weve got game changers here. A real squad. Take it on the chin and hold your hand up man.

A bit unlucky but still would the players who were missing made that much difference?

I know Lansbury is good.

I think as you say we just had a good day attacking wise aided by scoring early in both halves.

That 3rd goal/error would have been a killer for you just when you were making 2 subs.

We just wasn’t at the races for this
The early goal killed our spirit on and off the pitch
After the QPR and Norwich results
we should have had enough momentum to get a result against what seemed a bang average opposition today
However…

Individually no but it shifted the shape and balance of the team significantly. Lansbury would have been a big miss as it upset the midfield balance big time. Campbell and Clark are great players but a key failing of the system and them is if we lose the ball high they are invariably out of position (as are the fullbacks). So the 3rd midfield player must cover a lot of ground to plug gaps, Freeman was the 3rd midfield player today and he’s a luxury player really whose not going to do that. That meant you were able to play through very easily which exposed the weakness and lack of mobility of our centre halves. Bradley who was also mentioned as struggling with illlness particularly struggled as a result.

Potts been very important this season and him missing meant Bell had to shift across too, I can imagine this upset things a fair bit as Bell is good defensive fullback who probably was key to us shutting down Sarr and that side which now you have Doughty there whose an attacking fullback further stressing issues. In general a few players were less combative than normal so who knows was sick and we still pushed out there because further changes weren’t possible.

Aware that’s a lot of excuses there so to finish off Whether it would have made much difference I’m not sure, your forward play today was exceptional, we’d have found it difficult to live with no matter who played i think. We got done by some quality attacking players today basically. It’s going to happen to us on occasion at this level.

Sounds familiar- we haven’t been good when needing to move around due to injuries and lack of options.

Fortunately for us yesterday everyone was in their natural position and playing well together.

.......Glad to hear its just your weekend :-/
That's due to my apathy towards this club. Previous years I'd have been fuming for a fortnight.

Luton away tomorrow, Simms may make the bench after his injury but the sooner Ross Stewart is bk the better as having no strikers has been tough for the last 7 weeks. Also hope Patrick roberts is bk after missing last week. Very poor from the club to think 2 strikers is enough. However after a jekyll and hyde performance last week we go again. Personally i hope the safc who turned up for 45 mins in the 1st half last week puts in that performance for 90 tomorrow but Luton will be hurting after last week and prior to that were playing well so unfortunately i think a narrow defeat for us tomorrow but you never know in football and without a striker we can still find the net with the quality of our wide players.

Jones saying that the mystery “sickness bug” that we had has lingers through this week doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence. Haven’t seen us look so poor and lacking in the energy and work rate that we normally thrive off in a long long time. We just can’t play like that and get away with it at this level

Could really do with a reaction to last weeks result, think people are very hurt/annoyed/numb after what happened last week, simply because we looked so lacking in energy and fight in such a huge game. Think Sunderland are missing some key forward players but as Daz points out, it on the whole it looks a very promising young squad.

Gone with Bell into the back 3 I think which means Doughty at LWB and Bree RWB which is very attacking. Bit worried about that back 3 could either be great or look all over the place I think, especially dealing with crosses or high balls. Good to have Lansbury back, feel he provides a much better balance in midfield

As above though need a reaction, that result and performance last week was a real kick in the teeth that overshadowed 2 really good results. Can’t let that game become an inflection point in our season

Thought it was a really good game at our place both teams had spells of being in the ascendancy and both keepers made some decent saves. Sunderland with there first choice front man will be a very dangerous proposition, attacking players in wide and advanced midfield areas looking really brilliant, Diallo in particular stood out but also Roberts when he came on.

Point probably fair overall but a very good game to watch.

A clean sheet and grabbing the win on the road.

Excellent and much needed after recent away games.

I still havent been able to fathom todays formation? Tough sometimes from TV. Did we play a back three with Bree rwb but no lwb at all? Doughty was everywhere across the line but very high. Clark tucked in tight. Bell was lost going forward as had nobody in front of him. Felt for him as hes not the most dynamic with options and was often overun as a defender.

It worked fine today with the spanner in the works coming losing Lansbury from behind the two 8s and having to replace him with Freeman in front of them.

Decent game but both sides looked like there were holes at the back and could suffer against savvy opponenets but both dangerous going forward without quite clicking.

Nathan Jones needs to learn when to shut his fat mouth. He doesnt understand. He doesnt feel a loss like that. Not like we do. Its just his (high paying) job. He'll be gone one day soon. We wont. That defeat does live in our soul.

He is a professional. He deals with each game, each win, each loss. Including that one. He moves on. Never too high never too low. Because thats his job. Dont dare to criticise because we care abd feel a low. We dont have the luxury to move on. We have to face them and listen to them, we arent in your bubble Nathan. The criticism received was FULLY FUCKING justified you little prick.

That defeat was SHIT. Illnesses or not. No heart. We've overcome 80M and 40M players. Dont you dare tell us not to care you little shit. Dont you dare pass the buck. Who the fuck do you think you are?

Bree was at right centre half with Doughty playing RWB. Considering he is very left footed he did well and his cross for the goal was excellent. Really liking the look of him so far. It worked very well I thought especially first half whilst Lansbury was there as you’ve got 2 really dynamic attacking players with great delivery on that side. They interplayed very well with each other. Bell had quite a decent game defensively I felt, was a tough job as Sunderland’s front players pulled us out of shape very well especially Amad but he acquitted himself well. As ever though going forward he isn’t the best.

When Lansbury went off the balance of the midfield was all wrong and the game from that point on was very open. Clark started off playing almost like a 10 but had to go deeper after that which whilst he is exceptionally versatile is not really best use of him for me. I like Freeman as a player but that midfield 3 doesn’t work, as they are quite similar tenacious chasers who often over commit and leave gaps to exploit. Given he is injury prone we need another player like Lansbury who sits, dictates the play, blocks up midfield passing lanes and breaks things up. Unfortunately not sure there’s many of those around in our price range.

Maybe Pelly coming back (who was very good in his little appearance I felt) can do a bit of that although not sure it’s entirely his game either!

"I don't read social media, but they applauded us off the ones that were there (at Watford).
“Now it’s easy to keyboard things, quite easy, and they might not even be true Luton fans.
“They can be anyone, anyone trying to stoke a fire, but the true Luton fans know and they get behind you and they were brilliant,

Is he suggesting that those that criticise are not also true fans but
Undercover saboteurs trying to shit-stir???

I agree totally with you BH on your comments and take umbrage over Nj’s need to deflect blame from his ineptitude and inability to have a plan B when called for…

I am no less passionate about my beloved hatters, compared with those that travel home and away,
because I don’t live in Bedfordshire anymore or have a democratic right to have a go at those that I believe are not capable of fulfilling their duties on and off the field…

My feelings on PRM are well documented and now nj has not left a nice taste after those comments

I and BH and TFCH and Kenny amongst others have a voice too..
And are true patriots and not saboteurs…

Tbh losing any game 4-0 isn’t going to bring anything but criticism and negative comments - let alone a Derby game .

I love how Doughty looks so far and was excited when we got him. Id hoped wed get him a while back but he went to Stoke ( i think). A great acquisitiin and glad hes getting a look in looking strong and dangerous so quickly.

Balance def not right but i feel its close and we could click and become a very nice side. We are strong up top, decent in the middle but not quite right and have space for a couple or so more mobile athletic defenders and a DM is where we should spend our top money. Pelly back is great (sorry Oaky i think hes a greatly improved and has room to for more and a very important cog in the wheel).

Considering our tiny Stadium and income, weve been great and are puching above our weight. Despite my above rant that is in a large part to Jones and the squad/team hes assembled but especially 2020. We need Power Court asap.

Reading at home for us tonight. They have done significantly better than I think many expected given there off field issues and that I don’t think many people rate Ince as a manager. Done well so far though.

Lansbury apparently going to be out for all the games leading into the World Cup break which is a huge blow for us. Forces a decision in midfield that I don’t think we really want to make as as Saturday showed we lack another like him and it can lead to a bit of a unbalanced midfield. I wonder if he might try Pelly as he did well on Saturday in his short sub appearance but depends on fitness and whether he is ready to start after a long lay off.

Swansea at home, it was a back four on Saturday but I presume that was due to Hughes & Cunningham not being fully fit, and Lowe having no trust in Diaby.

Imagine it will be 3-5-1-1 again tonight, matching Swansea up. Probably going to be a terrible watch, two dull, sideways passing teams.
