I won’t particularly miss the Not A Local Derby, but I feel that Bolton have genuinely been the better side over the course of the season.

I know, I know:

1) duh, of course they were better if they got more points
2) the playoffs are by their nature designed to confound that, it’s part of the fun if you benefit (as we did going into the Champ) and part of the vexation if you underperform

Oh well. Out of my L1/L2 playoff wishlist, it was more important that Franchise remain locked up in the basement than Oxford choke, so I can’t complain too much.

Some performance from Oxford, that. Totally deserved and I think Bolton wouldn’t score if the game lasted 2 days. They looked well off it, but I think a lot of that is due to how well Oxford played.

Some big teams in L1 next season and you’d imagine Bolton will be aiming for a top 2 spot. As for Oxford, they’ll need to strengthen but congratulations to them on getting promoted today.
