soundly and deservedly beaten tonight, poor show. Danny Rose had a very good game and bagged a brace. We'll be going out unless we can beat Posh.

our youngest ever player makes his debut off the bench, 12 years old when the UK went into the first lockdown. christ.

Great to see, must be quite a moment for the lad even if it’s just the pizza trophy. One of the things DC has done well is bring through some of the youth lads like him, McDermott and Plant.

Anyway won 4-0. Fantastic performance from us in fairness, controlled it throughout. Think that means we’ve qualified for the next round as well so that is what it is.

10 grand and goals and minutes from players getting back to fitness or on the fringes so a worthwhile exercise. They made less changes than we did and we’ve destroyed them so bodes well for confidence if nothing else.

Good to see Brad Walker getting plenty of minutes as he is a big player when fit for us.

After last posting, we conceeded 2 and lost 2-1. No idea what that means in terms of the table and progression

Injured at a rough guess but you’re right it’s the same as Rory Holden who seems to have just disappeared without trace.

Charsley is injured but as per DC it could be career ending or 10 days and we won’t know!

Happy we’ve lost that!

We played 5 youth players, 2 players that are unfit, 1 player coming back from a long term injury and our reserve GK is Northern Premier League standard at best. Only 3 players were first teamers. When I saw the lineup I thought we’d lose by atleast 3 goals.

That’s us out of this competition now thankfully. Don’t have to put up with this for another year (if it’s still running by then that is).

All attention can now rightfully be put towards Burton on Saturday.

Great to see after the terrible form of the youth team in recent seasons three scholars on the pitch for us tonight. Great experience for Plant and Shorrock especially and good to see DC willing to give the kids a chance.

McDermott and Plant are second year but assume Shorrock is further behind at 15 years old?

Nuts we’ve managed to score 4 goals without a striker in the 18 mind!

And we made 11 changes. Says it all.

Even allowing for the 8 changes, we have a weird habit this season of suddenly dropping the tempo out of nowhere, sitting back and inviting pressure.

Not sure some of our players are doing themselves any favours either, Kennedy has mentioned their mentality/attitude two or three times now when there's been a no show of a performance.

Its quite possible that our average age for tomorrow's game against Saints under 21s will be lower that theirs.
Taylor said on Saturday that we are down to our bare bones (we only named 6 subs, and no defenders) and he wanted to protect players seeing as we have 9 games in October

I think you still have to name a fair few first teamers though dont you, or face a fine?

I'm hoping a good win against West Ham kids might kickstart our season. I'm also hoping to win the lottery and wake up with Amber Heard in my bed. None of which are going to happen. :ffs:

Why the fuck would you want to wake up with that prick in your bed?

No, I'm just not a loser who treats a fucking football forum like real life. Some of you need to see the outdoors. Take it all far, far too seriously.

Isn't that the whole fucking idea? What am I meant to post after a game?

We lost. The final score was 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday. Both teams had some shots. The weather was okay.
You don't take it seriously eh?

Not in the slightest. If I did, I'd quote every single post of anyone saying anything remotely negative about Vale and getting into arguments with them, wouldn't I? Couldn't give a toss what anybody thinks about us. It's all about opinions, as long as boundaries aren't crossed.

So we host Posh for the second time in the space of three days in a "winner takes all" contest...although it's arguable whether the "victory" here is to be knocked out, or to go through to the next round. :pond:

I have no doubt whatever that as usual, we will be sticking out as many of the reserves as we possibly can - Ainsworth doesn't seem to give a shit about this competition (although will amusingly swear blind that he wants to "win every game"), and you know that when you are taking advantage of the weird loophole that even on-loan players can come back to their parent club on a one-off basis for Tinpot Trophy games, you're not taking the competition seriously.

I get the feeling that Posh will save their first teamers as well, but who knows.

Newcastle U21's for us tomorrow night. I think we need a win or a draw and penalty win to go through at Doncaster's expense.

Wolves U21s in a dead rubber as both sides are through. We have some decent depth so allows players on the periphery game time, if Jones has a knock then getting Hall minutes in the tank ahead of the weekend is useful.

We’ve beaten all the u21s sides so far we’ve faced but these ran us closest a couple of years back. Hopefully another win to top the group and 10k in the bank.

Can tell how low ticket sales must be for this that the club have now offered double loyalty points for those who buy one for tonight.

Same drill as the other games, wholesale changes from the weekend and give the likes of McDermott, Robinson and Holden etc time on the pitch.
