Two winnable ties although preferable at home. Our chances will depend a lot on how strong we go but would like to see us give it a real go from the position we are in.
I dont think Darrell takes this competition seriously. I remember he subbed our keeper after 3 minutes away at Portsmouth and we ended up being fined.
He doesnt like being forced to play the majority of his first X1 and not rotate

He doesn’t but we have a squad that’s fairly consistent in terms of ability throughout so few stand out but few dead wood so we’ve generally done well in it as we can make 10/11 changes and still have a competitive side.

I imagine he will go strong Tuesday as he did for Barnsley because of the postponement tomorrow and then no game until Monday… if we negotiate that I think the QF is the week after we have a free weekend because Derby are in the cup and then we again don’t play until the Monday due to being on sky so in theory less need to change it.

Would love another Wembley trip after last season and seems the more likely route this season.

Always the danger of players getting injured in what is, whatever stage its at, still a piss pot competition.
Barton moans about it yet still risks key players, with 2 or 3 getting injured on Wednesday inc Collins.

Very much so, we lost Gibbons for months in it a couple of seasons back.

It's silly as clubs are forced to play something like 6 regulars. The U23 sides ive seen have been dirty bastards as well, obviously not being able to control their hard-on at playing against real footballers.
As well as that why would any fan want to pay money to watch their team beat a bunch of kids - most of their better young players are already on loan anyway

So we go again after last weeks failed attempt!

Sal£ord Away, we had a cracking away day there towards the end of last season with Charsley scoring a deserved winner to see us extend our lead inside the top 3 before the inevitable semi bottle job.

Would like to win this and set up a quarter final at Whaddon Road and a chance to close in on Wembley again, we've been impressive this season in this competition but gets more serious now, expect with no game last weekend and 6 days until Morecambe at home we will go fairly strong to keep players up to speed similar to the last round.

Had quite a few corners to practice with!!
We are the leagues best at corners but don’t think we came close tonight. Weird game we missed a sitter. Smith scores straight after and then we had all the play as they sat in and couldn’t break them down.

Second half it was gung ho which resulted in them hitting the post/bar three times, us once, them putting a couple of sitters wide and us missing a late scramble… so should of scored a couple but could easily have lost 5-0.

We’ve been off the pace since that superb performance at Plymouth… maybe the lack of games is seeing us rusty.

Honestly not going to lose any sleep over losing this. My line on the competition is the same and for as long as these B teams are a part of it I want nothing to do with it regardless whether Carol etc defend it or how far we get.

Just hope none of the first team players picked up any knocks.

Smith was an absolutely donkey when we beat them at home last season, but big units like that will always cause problems. Ah well its only a tinpot cup, I wish we had lost to be honest

Last season we beat them and all they did was lump it to him and we dealt with it but to be fair under the new manager they did have a bit more football about them last night… all be it still kicked the shit out of us like last season!

Considering today is THURSDAY 5th January I'd assume the 10th is right, as per the BBC site

Next Tuesday 10th January is confirmed quarter-final dates of games with seven out of 8 of our teams remaining in competition.

The BBC made error as shown: -

I don't think for instance that Plymouth qualify as a Northern team :pond:

Just knock us out already lol.. saying that Wembley seems a hell of a lot nearer now
I imagine all three new signings will play a part, plus the under 18s with a few big boys on the bench. the under 18s we’re losing 3-0 to Charlton, then four subs were made and here we are.

By Charlton did you mean Wimbledon? Surprised a Cockernee would make that mistake

So tonight see's arguably our only realistic remaining opportunity for any 'success' this season, barring a tremendous charge up the table in the second half of the season.

We generally put out a pretty competitive side, and expect tonight to do likewise.

Not sure how seriously Bolton are taking it, which could play in to our hands.

Personally i'd rather win the mirroring game on Saturday and lose this one.

lottery tonight if it gets played.........Non stop rain for the last 48 hours
Evatt takes this very seriously Will be at least 8 playing tonight who will be playing Saturday and the other three will be 3 of our better players who wont be fit/eligible Saturday. Jones/Santos returning from injury illness and Dapo who will complete his 3 match ban Saturday but can play tonight.

Looks good for Plymouth.

They’d take a good number to Wembley.

Bolton too .

Accrington Salford/Cheltenham final will end this competition
I don’t know - they will say isn’t it great a smaller team gets to Wembley and a chance to play there like Sutton last year .

But obviously not idea for a decent crowd .

Be worse if two of the Premier league kids teams got to the final .

Decent first half but pretty dour game overall. We’ve looked happy with a 1 goal lead all second half. Both teams have had a few chances but not much clear cut. Not a great watch. We’ll need to play better on Saturday to beat them again. 1 goal conceded in 6 games now. Just need to score more!
