Bloody hell. Halifax winning a game away from home after being 1-0 down. These are strange times we live in.

Of course it might end up being a pointless victory. Hopefully the clubs in this league can keep things going.
Strange times indeed. Nice to get a dodgy refereeing decision go our way for a change with the penalty.

Would be typical when we are up there for a change for the season to get called off

I'm sure nobody cares but we nearly threw away 2 points having given Barnet a goal and played them off the park the rest of the time,.. thankfully normal service was resumed in the 90th minute, missed far too many chances but with key players out did OK. Barnet, ahem,.. werent very good.

I'm sure you can find a better backup forward than Byron Harrison, but you deserved the three points today.

Fully deserved 3 points - we played some decent stuff today.

Ref was shocking - never a penalty to Wrexham and then didn't award one to us later in the same half for a blatant handball.

Commentary was the worst yet today - Phil Walker was unbearable.
Not quite the worst yet in terms of commentary... that was the Aldershot game with Steve Williams... fuck me that was atrocious!

But yeah commentary team were crap again today, Jamie Hewitt has been the best on there so far, I’d just try and get him for every game if poss haha!

He's on trial, that was his first start, still trying to find a decent striker,.. he missed 2 sitters today but has done better than some we have tried. If we had Hulme (who we lost to Fylde on a fee the day before the season started) back we would be right up there. Many games we have started with 3 or 4 wingers upfront !

Hopefully Ardley’s last game as manager. Sums up his time in charge, poor.
Hopefully not, but what do you care you want the whole season written off anyway.
Clean sheet against runway top scorers in our first league game for weeks. Defence rock solid and everything to play for.
I didn't think it was poor, Torquay aren't just making the numbers up, two strong teams out there today.

I thought today was a good lesson in why we are where we are. I think generally we looked the neater team - we had more of the ball, our touch was generally better, we played some nice triangles and all of that.

But Torquay were the better team today IMO and are in general because they’re just positive. When their midfield gets the ball, they look forward. When they break, they do it quickly and commit numbers beyond the ball. They took off a defender for a more attacking player with five minutes left because they sensed a chance to win. We’d never do that at 0-0 away from home, whoever the opposition.

Yeah Johnson never settles for a point, happy to risk losing the 1 point to try to take all 3. Works out for us more often than not. This was a good point though (as long as we win on Tuesday), both sides had opportunities to win it.

I thought £12.99 was steep for the stream beforehand but have to say it's a quality product, up there with Bromley's as the best so far.

God yeah - I'd blocked that one out of my mind.

I'd like to hear Jack Lester / Tommy Lee etc. on there.

I’d give Ardley the season either way and see where we are, but we’ve scored two in six league games are are bottom six for goals scored, despite a decent set of attacking players.

As solid as we are defensively, it’s at the expense of everything else.

I agree he's probably too cautious but we did play two up today and I wouldn't say we sat back or were happy with a point.
Thought there were positives today, defence looked very strong and we did create chances. Effiong offers an option and hopefully we can now get some momentum going.

We haven't been solid most of the season, right from pre season so I'm actually optimistic that we're moving forwards. Lacey being fit is a massive boost, Roberts is in training. Think it's more a lack of confidence now, players are wanting an extra touch when they'd hit it first time when they're in the groove.

Aldershot (and Boreham Wood, apparently )
Couldn’t get near a screen today, and there was no radio commentary, but from reports, a couple of dodgy defences couldn’t handle some decent forward play. Shots up to 9th, can’t remember these dizzy heights.
Hope for football’s sake that it’s not all in vain, but Aldershot is historically unable to handle accumulating debt, and I don’t want the rest of the season on the never-never.

I would kind of highlight Effiong as the problem I’ve got with Ardley. I agree that he played pretty well, but he was just doing all of the stuff that Wootton does really well anyway.

So we had two big strikers up there running the channels, being physical, linking the play etc. Then he took one off for Sam, who also does that stuff mostly, while the one different option we have who seems to score every time he gets ten minutes doesn’t even get on the pitch!

2 goals in the last 6 and 19 goals in the whole season. Embarrassing stats for this level. The man has no idea as to how to use his attacking players, while keeping them out at the other end.

Decent chance of PPG this season, and he still couldn’t go for it properly today.

Big 3 points that potentially, fully deserved against a poor Wrexham team who were probably lucky to escape with a 2-1.

hope this league continues, it’s literally any bodies

Chill your beans yoof, whenever the season finishes, I still want us to win every game we play.

if you’re happy with how we’re generally doing this season fair play to you, I wish I enjoyed our performances as much as you obviously do.

Even with the players we’ve missed this season, imo we should be doing far better from an attacking point of view.

We were poor as always, you were only slightly better, a half decent team would have put a few past your dodgy defence.

Let's not get carried away here lads.

Heard from those who watched the game and everyone agreed a point is a fair result. Umerah has been dreadful whilst he has been starting and apparently shit effort on goal again. We badly missed our captain out there and hopefully he will be ok for Tuesday

Who's getting carried away?

You were lucky to lose 2-1 which i'm such the match stats will back up. I think your only SOT was from a penalty.

My beans are relatively chilled, I'm not desperate for a sacking or wailing for the season to end because of Covid.
Our scoring record is poor and I blame Ardley for wasting pre season with his crappy diamond formation leaving us unprepared when kick off came. The stop start has hindered us but today was improvement, we'd have lost that before Christmas.
I would have brought Knowles on instead of Sam but it's fine margins and I'm just not ready for a sacking.

Thats because we are shit

You deserved to win. But I'm not sure where all these other goals you apparently should have scored come from?

I wish I could disagree with any of this but I can’t. It looks like it would be quite enjoyable to watch Alty play every week whereas it’s a grind and an ordeal to watch us.
We defended a fair bit better than we did against Borehamwood. However, if Alty had any other striker than Byron Harrison they would have scored a couple more before the end of the match and we still look vulnerable down the flanks. Attacking-wise, I can’t see how we could ever create chances to score goals. We have no width, no one is making runs behind the opposition defence, our movement is archaic and we’re terrible at set-pieces. Our goal came from a lucky break and we didn’t create anything else resembling a chance. Alty’s movement in attack was miles ahead of us.

Mad game against KL completely dominated and then went 1-0 down but continued to dominate and then they score on half time with their second attempt. We pummel them for another half an hour and finally score before getting the equaliser from a cross that went straight in. We get given a pen on 90 mins and their keeper pulls of an unreal save from Brundle tipped it over, from the resulting corner Brundle heads it in for the winner. We had over 20 attempts to their 4 and I can see why they ship goals for fun but also look they decent going forward, no idea why they stopped playing and try to defend because they can’t.

4 points of the play offs and were pretty turgid, Crap league.

Hahah brilliant, how were we shit?? :fl: :fl:

Fucking hell we’re in the National League not the Prem, not exactly sure what a good performance at this level looks like if you’re calling that shit!

There was only one team bothered about trying to play some football with any ambition to actually win the game today and it certainly wasn’t the boys in red... vast majority of your fans on your forum echo those thoughts aswell so either you’re fishing for a bite (well done you got one) or tha’s just plain delusional :ffs:
