One group happy for the goals.
Others saying that his limitations outweight the positives.

One of the most one dimensional footballers I’ve ever seen in my life ... BUT ... the one dimension that we are speaking about has been ridiculously effective ever since he signed for us, and his goalscoring form this season as others have said, really makes it difficult to not be happy with him at the moment. It’s not even just his goals though, defensively on corners he is unbelievable, and so what we lose in terms of general play with him being on the pitch, we more than make up for in set plays.

As has been alluded to though, I think in an ideal world Rowe will probably see him as a plan B type forward to throw on if we need to get back into a game. At the moment though I don’t see anyone in the squad that’s worthy of playing ahead of him alongside Asante.. maybe Nathan Tyson if he ever gets back fit like

That assumes that there is relegation. The way things are going not so sure, which would be a shame for clubs like Torquay who ordinarily must have a good chance at promotion.

He does talk sense in his Interviews and he did change our tactics during the second half to some effect. However, at the very least we need to replace our full-backs/wing-backs to be able to put out a team that may win a game and with the Covid situation as it is I’m not sure that he will be given license to do so. Interesting to know that your manager has spent 3 years building up his side, I could definitely see it.

Most of this Alty side were brought in by Parky after we got relegated the second time into the Evostick lge (only 3 players were kept) so this is their 4th season together 2 promotions and a playoff finals loss in 3 years and in the top 7 now too. The whole squad are on long term loyalty contracts, we are part time and we only train 2 hrs a week but always stay positive, play football and attack. Rarely do you see clubs at this level take this approach, plan is to go fulltime soon and go into EFL,.. I'm not a naturally optimistic guy but I can see us do it. If we can find a decent striker we can afford,.. this could be very soon.

He’s like marmite I reckon.
To watch you think WTF is going off here but he’s a handful and scores goals.
He might well be the type of player to help us out this league but it’s not pretty at times with him in the side, though it was improved under Rowe

I’ve been here throughout the shambles of our last 5 years. It was that bad I even made a separate thread for it all.

i think the Wrexham fan thinking saying we deserved to win = were a good team has stoked the fire a bit, when in reality the two are totally different things and nobody in the league is a ‘good side’ from what I’ve seen.

I like him. He's a right handful, it's not uncommon to see him fighting off 3 defenders when the ball goes up. He ought to get more free kicks as guys resort to just hauling him down or climbing over his back. His huge head just has it's own gravitational pull for the ball. His defending from set pieces is almost as important as the goals he scores. Obviously he's a limited guy, and I'd prefer it if we didn't just route one it to him all the time which is the obvious danger when you play a big target man like him. Now we've got a ball playing midfield and a good striker in Asante we can hopefully avoid that. He does actually have a good instinct for a goal to be fair to him though. He's a fantastic option on some tight horrible midweek away game in winter though, if he can nod one in to steal you a game. He reminds of a non league Steve Fletcher for those you remember him, but actually with a better eye for goal.

If we can get back to the football league though I'd obviously want to fire him into the sun.

I actually didn't think you were bad tbh. Mostly organised and largely held it together defensively, then weren't far away from getting a 2nd. It was close to being a perfect away performance, and could easily have gone that way. Seen plenty worse sides than Wrexham this year.

For me the only real difference was Asante, plus Chesterfield are playing with a bit more confidence. Looks like two solid mid table teams, which is an improvement for both of us after last season.

Asante has always been a good player but his injury record is abysmal. If Chesterfield strike lucky and he stays fit he's a real asset.

I'm hoping we can make the playoffs tbh. Things are starting to feel that positive around here. Going on form there's no reason we can't. After staring down the bloody national league North, it would be a fantastic turn around

We could do a Chesterfield and fall apart but our form since Rowe took over is belting - 5 wins in the league, 1 draw (might have been one of our best performances too) and 1 defeat at Solihull that was a good game that could have gone either way had we taken our chances.

We've got a couple of tough games coming up now in the capital this week and are Sat/Tue for weeks now but i'm confident we can grind out some results and keep in touch with the pack.

Could have done with being dumped out the FA Trophy tbf.

I think one thing we're missing that good sides have is regular goals from midfield. I'd like a Danny Whitaker type. Someone to knock 10 or so in. Wonder if Gloucester have anyone like that

We had one shot on target, which came from a baffling penalty. It might not have been a diabolical performance but it certainly wasn't good, even average.

I saw it as a game between 2 poor sides where the key difference was in the quality of the strikers.

Asante was terribly unlucky with injuries in his younger days which stopped him getting to a level that his undoubted talent deserve’s , when we signed him he was out of favour at Tamworth sat on the bench every week at the lower end of non league. He came on a one month loan and it seemed that Giving him another-chance lifted him because he scored a perfect hatrick
in his first game against Darlington and never looked back from then on, I think most of his injury issues while with us we’re in his head he would feel a bit of a pull or tweak and miss a couple of games but every time he came back he would score. I think he’s in a good place in his head now and has played all season including his short spell at Gloucester without missing a game, we at Chester wish the lad well and hope he gets back to playing at a level his talent deserves.

In the 13 years we've been down here i can only remember a handful of genuinely good sides. The rest who have got promoted are pretty average sides that are well coached/lucky with maybe one or two good players being the difference between them and everyone around them.

The one season we had a really good side was the season Fleetwood (who were very good) destroyed the league.

We honest dont have any real rivalry apart from Bristol Rovers i guess. Forest are just tit for tat. Mansfield just best us all the time so whatevs Chessie are similar to Burton as being so annoying. We are accepting applications for Notts rivalry, any takers, never mind!
