To be fair to the Wrexham fan, i thought today was the poorest we've played under Rowe in the league.

It was a bit scrappy, disjointed at times and i didn't see the winner coming. In a weird way though it's another sign of progression, we play that game with any of our last 5, 6 managers in the dugout and at 1-1 we go into our shell and its Wrexham who win the game. Happy to take the win though however it comes, good football is always welcome but i'm not really sure it matters a whole lot in this pub league.

Asante and Whelan.....what a couple of signings they have been btw! and i wonder what's happened with Letheren?....clearly been told to do one but seems odd that Rowe hasn't confirmed it.

Were we shit though?

The answer is no we definitely weren’t and we were much the better team.

But agree we have certainly played better which speaks volumes to the level we’ve been at since Rowe’s arrival.

In comparison to a lot of our performances in the last 5 years, today was like watching 1970 Brazil......i assume anyway.

Gary Caldwell, that was shit.....very, very, very shit.

Next up, Wrexham. Apparently, we'll be toast if their takeover goes through by then. Pray for us. :woot:

Been on here for a while just never registered. Someones got to keep BTTF in check don't they?
BTTF was my nom de plume on another forum, that went bust shortly after they shot themselves in the foot by banning me and losing 80% of its traffic as a result. Oh dear, how sad, never mind. :woo:

I didn't think we were brilliant I've got to be honest. Lacked cutting edge, apart that Mandeville through ball. We missed Denton I felt, balls and throws into the Wrexham box were easily dealt with. 70-85 minutes I was worried whenever Wrexham went forward because it had the feel of a sucker punch about it. What I like though is we're showing some passion finally and a true desire to not leave that field without the W. It's such a difference to the last 5 years. I don't care how the wins come down here, the NL ain't a beauty contest

Sounds like I missed the biggest ever clash yesterday the way these Chesterfield fans are going on. A performance for the ages by them it sounds like.

Don't worry, i'm sure the highlights will get put up on YouTube at some stage.

Credit to JR for not being afraid to make a change in bringing on an underperforming pair in Rowley and Mandeville instead of playing it safe for a point. And the comments at the end about the poor lad killed in the car crash...full marks to him again. He's the best thing to happen to this club for quite a while.

Fair play to Wrexham who are obviously struggling atm but frustrated us up to that point.

Read the posts in the thread instead of making stuff up. Literally the 3 before your post said we weren’t great, poorest under Rowe etc.

All that’s been said is we deserved to win, which is backed up by both managers and 95% of your fans.

Stop trying to be edgy and go against the grain. Pick your bottom lip up and stop being a plank.

Hahah brilliant, how were we shit?? :fl: :fl:

Fucking hell we’re in the National League not the Prem, not exactly sure what a good performance at this level looks like if you’re calling that shit!

There was only one team bothered about trying to play some football with any ambition to actually win the game today and it certainly wasn’t the boys in red... vast majority of your fans on your forum echo those thoughts aswell so either you’re fishing for a bite (well done you got one) or tha’s just plain delusional :ffs:
There’s an even better comment somewhere saying we were shaky at the back. They had one shot in target ffs from a dodgy penalty.

If that’s Shaky I can’t wait for us to be solid, nobody will get in our box let alone a shot at goal.

I'm not saying we weren't shit as well, we clearly were and you were the better team, but we've been beaten by better teams this season.

Amazing how I've set you all off with that comment. Suck it up, you weren't THAT good. Beating us isn't exactly difficult right now.

I wish I could disagree with any of this but I can’t. It looks like it would be quite enjoyable to watch Alty play every week whereas it’s a grind and an ordeal to watch us.
We defended a fair bit better than we did against Borehamwood. However, if Alty had any other striker than Byron Harrison they would have scored a couple more before the end of the match and we still look vulnerable down the flanks. Attacking-wise, I can’t see how we could ever create chances to score goals. We have no width, no one is making runs behind the opposition defence, our movement is archaic and we’re terrible at set-pieces. Our goal came from a lucky break and we didn’t create anything else resembling a chance. Alty’s movement in attack was miles ahead of us.
Agreed but give Flowers time, his post match comments were one of the most insightful I have seen a manager give and he clearly knows the game. Dont forget, our manager has spent over 3 years with this side and it shows !

We missed a sitter too tbf. We don't do shots on target, it's not in our nature.

Comments from your fans definitely make it sound like you'd beaten us in the FA Cup QF all over again.

Just stuck £200 on Chesterfield to win the league, cheers.

He does talk sense in his Interviews and he did change our tactics during the second half to some effect. However, at the very least we need to replace our full-backs/wing-backs to be able to put out a team that may win a game and with the Covid situation as it is I’m not sure that he will be given license to do so. Interesting to know that your manager has spent 3 years building up his side, I could definitely see it.

This is a victory nearly famous enough to top Barrow v Tranmere in the FA Cup.

Everyone remembers where they were.

I notice quite a few recent post from OneDecentLester so let me guess, Chesterfield have started winning?
They’re on a winning streak now, 1 in a row.

Here he is my old friend, was wondering how long it would be until you reappeared on your favourite forum. Missing non league are we ???

By looks of your position in the table it won’t be long until your back here, only a few months to go... Bet you can’t contain your excitement!

Judging by our performances since November it would indeed appear that our players are missing non league.

What is the Chesterfield opinion on Denton? Looking at your messageboard there seems to be split opinions

One group happy for the goals.
Others saying that his limitations outweight the positives.

Hard to argue with his goal return this season, and he is very effective as a target man / useful defending set pieces.

However - I don't think he will be in Rowe's plans going forward, and if he does happen to be - it'll be as Plan B not Plan A.

Rowe wants his sides to play a high line and press teams - and Dents just isn't built for that.

Denton is a weird one. He belongs in the shit strikers thread but he's scoring lots right now.
