Bradley Wood got a free meal in Steeles today for his troubles

For those that don't know about Steeles, think of the best Fish and Chips you've ever tasted in your life and times it by about 1000x

This kind of reminds me of the time when Grimsby beat us with two games to go in League 2 a few back and they celebrated like they'd stayed up....and then it all ended in tears.

We have celebrated this so much as we have an abysmal record against the top half sides and havent had many performances and results at home. I can only think of Torquay, Eastleigh and perhaps Southport in a big relegation 6 pointer. then of course there was the sub plots. Akinde giving away the pen, Bradley been the man who won the spot kick and of course Woody and his Grimsby connections being the man to slot it home.
Not to mention the fact that all of our relegation rivals lost and have tough games this coming weekend while we travel to deflated Wrexham. We are in a very good position right now. Also dont thnik Welling are good enough to overhaul us and providing Nuneaton lose at Barnet dont think they have enough of a pesistent goal threat to over haul us.

Its certainly been one roll coaster of a season for us. On Tuesday we were dire against lowly Dartford and should have lost by a couple TBH and then we pull out a great result against free scoring Top of the table Barnet. Sums us up to a T.

You say they beat "us", but it says on your profile you support Chelsea.
I don't remember beating Chelsea in our relegation season..... :giphy:

Can any Alfreton or Mansfield fans tell me in which stands Mansfield were placed a few years ago when they took 2300. I know we have the tin end and the tom McRoy stand but I didn't think this would accommodate 2300 (or even more if we are allowed).

We celebrated because it stopped us getting relegated that day...

Do I sense a bit of heat getting to the Barnet fans and players?

Assault???
It was a pen all day, the guy missed the ball and caught the player. Unintentional but still a pen.

On a bobble of the pitch the fate of a season could rest.
Unfortunately, it did look like a penalty to me although I think in some cases the referee would have stopped play when the Alfreton player sat on the ball a few seconds before.
On a side note Eastleigh and Alfreton are definitely tin pot for selling out of programmes well before kick off for our visit. What sort of crowds were they expecting?

FYI. In recent weeks we have only printed like 20 or so programmes. A lot of people are disappointed and angry as many want a copy but our Chairman wants as little printed as possible for some reason. No idea why but yes very Tinpot

!!!!!! As the Alfreton fans sang during the match, "Not bad for a pit village!"
It did seem very odd that they ran out so early when there were only 3-400 fans in the ground at that time. Now, what's Eastleigh's excuse, surely they knew they were going to have a decent crowd that day?
Looking at the penalty incident, you can tell from John Akinde's reaction after the referee blew his whistle, that he had unintentionally fouled the Alfreton player. He trudged away disconsolately without making any protest to the referee.
I still don't understand how anyone could have said that Alfreton were in control during the second half, your highlights alone show that that couldn't have been the case!

Fair assessment from our keeper sums up the game for me.
http://www.times-series.co.uk/sport/11888544._I_do_not_think_it_was_a_good_performance____Stack/

"Nick Law’s Alfreton only had two attempts on target during the match and only mustered four shots in total as Barnet’s backline enjoyed one of their quietest 90 minutes of the season."

I really saw nothing to suggest Alfreton were likely to score before the Pen while we had plenty of joy down the right in the second half but failed to take our chances.

Did anyone see Audels elbow on Matt taylor saturday!! If that was the prem and the ref missed it, the fa would have banned him after the game. So why not in the conference? Clearly shows on tv a deliberate elbow from a standing position??? Thoughts???

Any highlights of this? I saw Taylor down on the deck, but no idea why. No one on the pitch seemed to be too bothered either.

I saw it yes. It certainly looked nasty

FYI restospective action is taken at this level. I remember Paul Clayton being retrospectively banned after our game v Halifax on BT Sport last season

Some fans will back their team no matter what. I think most on here are a bit more sensible than that though.

No, I wasn't.
How about you, when you beat Rochdale to stay up did you go on the pitch, or were you busy that day watching your real team at Stamford Bridge instead?

I'm a Chelsea supporter living in Barnet who happens to take a keen interest in my local (not anymore) football club.

And no I don't go on pitches....far too mature for that.

Looked pretty much identical to Parkes elbow on Fairhurst in the first half, which also didn't receive a (would have been second) booking. Both could arguably have been straight reds.

Conveniently forgotten by the Rovers fan above.

One was jumping for a header contesting the ball, the other standing still both feet planted on the floor, left Taylor in pain for a long period after the incident. The referee saw the foul from parkes. He didnt see the deliberate elbow from your centre half!!! Malicious!!

Parkes led with an elbow while on a yellow in front of the linesman on a player he'd just been booked for having a bit of a scuffle with. How is that not malicious? Poor decision from the officials not to give him a second yellow. As I said before, both should have been punished.

But in the spirit of it being a mans game probably made a couple of good decisions and left the game as 11 a side and there were no more incidents in the game.
