Sounds like Martin won’t be playing so we will have wait for retribution ? Fancy us to nick this one. Our defence will tighten up as Monk works out the best formation, and we will score more goals with the amount of chances we are making. I think we will be a very different prospect to play against in another 2-3 games as the squad beds in. That said I’ve read nothing that tells me Rovers aren’t the same team that finished last year so poorly. 2-1 Cambridge win.
I can confirm we are just as poor as last season. Yeah Martin went off injured, making our already impotent strikeforce even more blunt.

I dont know what the final score will be but am confident we will have 0 after our name. I hear we are both shit at set pieces so who knows - watch Stockports 2nd goal to see how bad we are.

Check out Blackpool scoring the exact same goal twice (three times if you count the end of last season) in a row against us. Corner into the six yard box, no marking whatsoever.

Sound like it could be a race to the bottom.

Barnsley seem either unwilling to match our valuation or they just cannot afford what we want. He will only go if it’s met, so I’m pretty comfortable about it, if he goes we’ve received a huge amount of money that I know JR will let Cloughie reinvest back in the squad.

We will be fine, we did a job on Barnsley away from home and was unplayable in the first 30, should have beaten Burton and scored about 8 goals in the process. Lincoln deserved to win on Saturday but we were very much architects of our own downfall with two calamitous goalkeeping errors from the usually reliable Pym.

Stockport will rightly be solid favourites Saturday and be purring at the chance to have a go at our makeshift defence, I do wonder if we have enough players Cloughie may go five at the back. Maybe with Bolton at RWB :shifty:

Aye heard a lot about the bolton rumours (the player not footballer) hopefully that will help out.

Stockport to win is 6/4, -1 is 9/2 and to score 3+ goals is 4/1, absolutely crazy odds given we’ve no defence, stockport are firm, firm favourites for saturday - just goes to show how little the bookies know about league 1

I'd expect our starting XI to be the same as it was on Saturday vs Bristol Rovers. Don't think any of our injured team of players will be back for this one.

We still don't have a right back. Jay Mingi has been filling in and doing a good enough job, but you can see it's not his natural position.

Might put a few quid on Shrewsbury losing again Saturday then coming here the week after, pointless and grabbing a scrappy win

Obviously football can change quickly as you’ve proven, but given where the clubs have been the last 15/20 years is there actually a rivalry?

Ive been going long enough to remember when we used to play so for me it's a rivalry but nowhere near the level of Chester but with how far away they are now I'd imagine the Shrewsbury rivalry will rear up again. Obviously a lot of the younger fans and newer fans haven't seen it bar the cup game last season. So I think it's an age thing but will grow to be quiet fierce again. I think they dislike us more then we dislike them.

Oh yes, absolutely. Wrexham will always have Chester at the top of the hated list, but Slops are a good 2nd or 3rd with Tranmere. Depending if you are south of Wrexham based, then they get bumped up. From their perspective, they only had a rivalry with Walsall and that wasn't anything special so we're no.1 for the majority of them.

Fair enough good for him - in fairness wrexham should’ve always won that league given the huge resources so to finish above them was an exceptional achievement - they both won a manager of the season then.

Not bursting any bubble though, the only one i’m interested in is the league 1 bubble, we’d have to score 3 at least to win saturday
Pretty sure $tockport's budget was similar or even higher than Wrexham's last season and this...they're not exactly a plucky underdog.

Absolutely no where near. We have a competitive top 10 League One budget but it's nowhere near the money teams of Birmingham, Wrexham, Huddersfield, Bolton etc.

It’s hard to disagree but at the same time you are chucking out three year deals for Ollie Norwood, which is very much a Wrexham Going for It™️ signing.

I think it’s fair to suggest Stockport budget last season may have been similar to Wrexham, and potentially still is now. Only one of those sides is likely to pay seven figures any time soon mind.

I always assumed that last year our budget was the highest, then Stockport. Then probably MK Dons with Mansfield fourth or fifth (always someone like Gillingham or Bradford paying large wages for underachieving squads).

Id imagine even we are far below the League one big dogs. So far anyway.

Fair enough, it’s odd how geography can work in that respect, like notts county here, basically the billies - forest have derby and we have chesterfield, and they’re kinda left behind without one.

I was told we had the 4th biggest budet last season. That was right at the start of the season and I think the 3 higher were Wrexham, MK Dons and Gillingham.

Wouldn't suprise me if we went up to third. MK Dons did actually trim the wage bill in January after managing to cull a fair few of their L1 relegation team who were on big wages. Gillingham meanwhile went one bigger and gazumped us for that Romeo Hutton or whatever his name was so they probably extended their lead over us. We just did loans in Jan and recalled Connor Lemonheigh Evans.

We will have upped the budget this summer and as I say, our owner said it would be top 10 which is a very competitive budget. Last two summers, we have set the budget out and then Stott has given a wildcard signing to go on top of it. Last season was Powell, this season is Norwood.

Wrexham are seen as the big local(ish) rivals for us, as you say mainly due to geography, being one of our closest games at 30 miles away and the cross border thing. For the older generation Walsall is are rivals. Telford are the closest club but only shared a league with them in our conference season. Hereford are another one but don't play them often these days.

They could probably say the same about the highest ranked Welsh non-league club that they really hate.

Always a bit sad seeing some big derby matches not come to pass as frequently, but as the old saying goes: ''Absence makes the hate grow stronger''.

As far as Derby games go I always preferred the Shrewsbury games. Cannot stand games against Chester- if we never play them again I would be fine with that

Wigan at home for Blues this weekend. Nice to be back home for a league game as its been a few weeks, Dont expect Dykes to start or the inbound Scott Wright from Rangers to either. Will be a similar team to the Fulham and Leyton Orient games.

Not sure what to expect from Reading. Sounds like they played well against Birmingham but struggled against Wrexham. Hoping to nick a 1-0 win

A lot of our younger fans haven't even seen a Bristol derby, which is a shame. The last time was in the mickey mouse cup in 2013.
The last league derby was in 2001...far too long. Tammy Abraham saved them from relegation one season single-handedly, had he not we'd have played them a lot more recently..
Still hate them more than ever though.

Chris Martin out for 2 months with a broken fibula. ...need to pull another striker out of the bag before the window shuts or we are in big trouble
