Not sure if was an injury or a tactical change which forced Payne off today. If it was the latter, then it was a very brave decision to go one man up top mid way through the first half. What ever it was it worked in our favour as James Vaughan played the lone striker role brilliantly albeit against a very ordinary and unambitious looking Scunthorpe who never tested Scotty once all afternoon!
I think it was tactical and a very good decision.

Grateful for the Rovers win, after a disappointing half hour in which Scunthorpe had the bulk of possession but couldn’t take advantage of it and both Rovers forwards fairly anonymous not helped by a too deep-sitting midfield. As others have said, a game-changing sub, whether tactical or injury saw Lewis on for Payne, a higher sitting midfield with Vaughan being brought into the game and taking his chances well. We might have had a penalty for a shove in the box and Khan and Monthe wasted good opportunities to make it more comfortable, but a fair result. Scunthorpe could do with a sprinkling more experience to take advantage of their early dominance of possession.

Well, dominated that in the end and were getting some shots on target but couldn't make it count. At least when we give away poor goals at home now we get back into it. Positives to take but if we are going to be challenging need to win from situations like that.
By far the worst we have played so far Clarke completely changed formation and personell though from our other games god knows why we looked awful and lucky to get a point.

I'd have taken the draw cheerfully beforehand as you seem to be going well but it was home points dropped as it played out.

After conceding 12 (twelve) in our last 2 home matches I thought we defended well and that was the most important thing for us. You were clearly the better side almost all over the pitch apart from posing next to zero goal threat. It sounds like you had the same sort of problem against Harrogate. What's up with Pope?

Pope had a six game ban today was his return but hasn’t played for 9 months (nor had Gibbons or Amoo to be fair).

Harrogate were similar in terms of breaking down all be it more about closing down than defending deep.

I hope the Vale fans are as salty this time next week.

We don’t look like conceding (take out the penalty today we were comfy at the back) but since Exeter haven’t looked like scoring. If you park the bus you’ll probably keep us out. If you like to attack and play a bit of footy we will probably beat you, although his holiness may change that as we have missed a physical presence when teams dig in!

Can see us going into next weekend with our backs against the wall if Hayden's suspended.

We wont win another game this season were that toothless upfront. Think I will go put a bet on us to be relegated.

We deserve to be relegated as we have knobhead fans giving theo Robinson stick saying hes wank and bone idle when hes barely kicked a ball all season.

Wont bother paying 10 quid for any more matches watch us as it's boring and I font want watch that poor standard of refereeing again. They say luck even itself out over the season well that's bull shit as we never get any.

Two weeks ago we were walking the league according to some fans, some now have even suggested Askey out!

We will have these games but that’s our first loss since January and only our third in 2020 in the league (ironically two against Morecambe!)

I trust we will find the answers to our problems against the less footballing sides and its early days. We’ve been excellent in two games, below par in two although could easily have won both on another day.

We never beat morecambe lost to them away last season and would have lost to them at home last season if it wasnt for the red card. They do the same tactics on us every season but were too thick to adjust to it and throw more bodies upfront.

Askey has got to learn to play a different formation when turns basically sit back all match. I've had enough of football already this season so would be pleased if they halted the season for abit or called it off completely.

Surprised at how comfortably we beat Cambridge today. Maybe we arent that bad a side despite not having a great start.

Do you not think you might be slightly over reacting here?

No were shite boring and predictable to play against. I knew we would struggle score goals this season. We cant rely on conlon wonder free kicks every week like we did when we beat you.

We play the same way every week and teams have worked us out. It was really poor game today won by a poor decision by the ref but morecambe had the 2 best chances of the game.

If our performance is anything to go by today, then clubs are going to have to pray that they're not forced to play games straight away after spending 10-14 days isolating with no proper preperation or training on the pitch, because as much as we battled hard with a spirited performance we was well below it in terms of match sharpness.

First 30mins Cheltenham could've wrapped the game up, they had chances to do so. 30-70mins we improved and created some chances as we usually do to make the game interesting but failed to take them. Last 20mins was a non event, we looked leggy and never ever looked like getting back into the game.

Only gripe is that Danny Johnson had a goal ruled out for offside even though it appeared a Cheltenham defender rather than one of our own players knocked the ball into his path.

Just have to pray that this won't happen again this season, because we've lost all the momentum we built up in the first month now. Will be interesting to see how Grimsby cope - Some of our players today played despite it being the first time they'd left their homes for two weeks.

Are there people really saying that about Askey? Obviously it’s all about opinions but anyone suggesting that is a grade A moron. We lost a game to a penalty that shouldn’t really have been given. People have short memories to what we were like under Aspin and Brown.

Morecambe executed their plan brilliantly to the point in stoppage time we were passing the ball round but had absolutely nowhere to go and never even got it near their area. Good management and teamwork from them really. We do need a plan B though. No issues and am in agreement that we should almost always start 4-3-3 but we do need to be willing to change things up when they’re not working and that has been our problem.

We should have changed it around the 60th minute mark and gone 2 upfront as morecambe were sitting back and trying hit us on the break all game. Cullen and robinson when he was on never get any service creativity in the team isn't very good these last few games created nothing.

Morecambe got a lucky pen scored it and won but even without that I still think they had the 2 best chances in the game a save brown made in the 2and half and a volley wide in the 1st half. Legge joyce and worrall usually 3 of our best players didnt play well at all today.

Hayden is suspended, there’s no way that is getting overturned.
Kayode will be missing as well I think, away on international duty.

A few on social media yes, crazy the blokes turned this club around and the fact we are expecting higher standards now is down to what he has done the past 18 months or so.

Last year was a free hit, consolidate with the view to let the owners settle and lay the foundations for a real go this term. We exceeded that and so of course that has risen expectation and the fans and club demand a promotion challenge, certainly play offs minimum so they will face harder critics and slaying after a bad result but it’s early days.

It’s a compliment sides are parking the bus and focusing on stopping our game such as Harrogate and Morecambe did today, both did it well and Morecambe had that huge slice of luck (as they often seem to get against us!) with the dodgy penalty in probably their only real foray into the box second half but it’s now down to us to find that solution to it. That’s the game, if your one on the favourites teams will try and stop you, the difference between those that go up and those that don’t is usually down to the over coming of that.

As I said to the Bolton lad who was talking about walking promotion. It’s a real slog and real tough league and a battle.

Frustrated but Morecambe shit housing a win against us is nothing new, still have nightmares about Halstead turning into Dino Zoff when we should of won that game by 5 or 6 a couple of years ago and managed to lose!

I swear to god this penalty you're all crying over better be a wrong decision by the ref when I watch it later, given the amount you're complaining

It’s softer than soft... Morecambe had been chucking themselves down all game like it, Madeley is of course on his return after being booted from the Premier League so the kind of weak physical decisions you’d probably get there but not in this level! To be fair to Morecambe they played him like a fiddle with it and again us lacking streetwise. Where was McKirdy when we needed him!

Lost 1-0 to Salford, dreadful performance, don't think Salford had to get out of second gear and they were still comfortably better than us. It didn't help that we gifted them the early lead and apart from a couple of efforts first half we never looked like getting back into the game. Salford were comfortable through out and should have won by more. They looked defensively sound, didn't give us a sniff second half, had us sussed out and unfortunately the changes had little to no effect on the game.

Can't complain with the effort, just not good enough unfortunately. Cumming was man of the match which tells it's own story. Will definitely have to step up our performance if we're to get anything vs Mansfield next Saturday.

I can't seem to remember him picking a substitute keeper for us either mate. Although the maximum was 5 on the bench.

Speaking of subs, I noticed Barrow only had 6. Any reason for this? Someone injured on the bus journey?
