Whatever the inconvenience to us fans, to the clubs, to the broadcasters and whoever else, they’ll get over it.

Royalist or not, the woman (though she clearly had considerable benefits) served the country for 70 years as queen and more before.

We’ve got an 8,000 or so near sell out against bradford in saturday, but in comparison to what she’s done, the image of the country she’s upheld and basically being a grandma to all, she should be rightfully provided with the relevant respect and send off, if we miss out on a few football matches then heyho, it’s penalty i’m happy to pay in respect to liz. Mansfield and bradford and the rest of us will be around for years to come.

What a thoroughly remarkable individual she was.

God bless the queen.
Why is cancelling all football the right thing to do? You can pay respects at the games. No doubt the Queen being a great sports fan would rather that, than everyone not attending!

We will still have to work tomorrow! In this case shouldn’t we all be off mourning for 11 days!

In fairness, one thing that all football fans will agree on is that they’d rather have a queen than a forest green

Blimey. Full house on the cliche bingo. Well done.

Question though for you and anyone else who is like minded... Why would watching a football match or an episode of Eastenders be deemed disrespectful to anyone?

yeah was drunk haha.

It does seem odd sport has to finish but a cinema can stay open.

Fair enough.

I'm not advocating for anything to close. This forced mourning seems alien to me. But it does seem odd that live sports is off but live music and theatre isn't. It all strikes me as a bit slapdash. Let's cancel stuff so we don't upset a tiny minority and get bad PR. Ignoring those who might be inconvenienced or out of pocket.

Personally, I'd be pretty pissed off if i'd forked out £££ for travel and accomodation for something that is now cancelled. If I was on the fence re Monarchy would that make me like them more? Unlikely.

Apparently it's down to availability of police - they're all needed in the capital for the influx of tourists etc. It's one of the main reasons the Tour of Britain has been cancelled.

That doesn't add up. The sparse, special measures, police force of Greater Manchester is needed to kettle in crying grandmas from the home counties?

Drunk but better punctuation and prose than when sober, either a copy and paste job or someone is telling porkies :gr:

Haha that's a ridiculous reason if correct. London famously usually quiet on the weekend and operates without a police presence. Madness. Can't believe she's died when Town are back in the league and in form.

Edit: Incredibly offensive but funny joke at Crewe's expense removed.

World's gone mad. We've been told at work 'keep the royal family in our thoughts' and that we can't send emails til next week 'as a sign of respect'. Not sure Charles is going to give a fook if I email a client or not.

Post Chernobyl the residents suffered life changing conditions and personalities

They’re just bred that way in Mansfield

I can’t take that post seriously when we’ve scunthorpe in the conversation.

Not many places make mansfield look nice but scunthorpe achieves it with bells and whistles on

Someone in one of the Town WhatsApp group reckons clubs are gonna get to make their own calls, not sure how reliable that is though.

Now that you’ve retracted that early post I’ll do mine.

Mansfield’s alright tbh. Full of good pubs.

It’s not as it’s Doncaster where they discover life changing injuries for Money.

Tbh, mansfield is a dump as are many other neglected northern towns.

Seems like Government has given it the ok to play this weekend, up to the governing bodies to decide.

Correct decision and lets be honest the correct decision from the EFL/PL/NL is to crack on. Not insensitive but life is going on in every other aspect. Minutes silence, black armbands at fixtures- of course.

Our game off at Tranmere tonight and Burnley's in the Championship. Disappointing but understandable really. EFL had to make a decision the day before the games.

TBH I think it's looking like a knee jerk reaction to cancel tonight's games if we're gonna play 24 hours later on the Saturday?

Still won't count my chickens before they're hatched with the EFL like, also have Savannah Marshall tickets at the 02 tomorrow night...
