Sitton, and Barrington too. In Sitton's case it has to be his back issues, really durable and one of the best guards in the league for years now, but maybe his back is becoming too much. Am sure he'll get a lot of visits but it's not often TT releases a player who's got lots left in the tank.

Barrington had a breakout 2014, did really well helping plug the run from ILB but then got injured in the first game of 2015. Evidently can't be the same player, and there's since been Jake Ryan and Blake Martinez come in who'll both surely be the starters. Beniquez Brown has made the roster at ILB too, who I read a lot about as an undrafted rookie, so am hoping these are signs it's now a position of strength.

Justin Forsett cut by the Ravens, did not see that one coming.

was pretty obvious - Dixon and West could be a pretty good tandem (Buck Allen is meh despite his strong finish last season) and Forsett's well past the notorious NFL RB cut-off age of 30 - he also isn't the sort of back that's going to play special teams.

Bengals 53 is looking weaker than previous year's, noticeably there's not really been a single cut I've been arsed about and the likes of Margus Hunt now seem to just make the roster by default. Peerman and WJIII will hit IR (designated to return thingy) so that will create 2 more roster spots straight away - I expect one will be a solid ST vet to cover Peerman's Pro Bowl standard there (Boom Herron seems the blindingly likely pick) - would love the other to be someone like Tyrone Holmes who the Jags have cut or just a speed rusher with a bit of upside as I can't stress enough how terrible Margus Hunt is.

Fair comment on his age thinking about, just was a bit of a surprise to me as just assumed he'd make the roster.

Aaron Dobsons run in New England finally at an end. Was alright in his rookie season but injury plagued thereafter and not really lived up to his promise.

And following on from Sanchez to Dallas. Should lead to nothing but you never know with this league nowadays.

I see despite some talk of an improvement in it prior to the game LSU's QB play is still the absolute drizzling shits. Really is a one man offence with Fournette.

4 turnovers in 3 quarters AGAINST FUCKING RICHMOND.

Is this karma for me mocking Sanchez and the Cowboys?

Ouch that was a right cheapshot after that absolutely abysmal throw from Harris getting picked off. Game over anyway.

Not opposed to Bradford but I am totally opposed to the price, it suggests there's some serious concern about Bridgewater long-term but if there is, I'd rather we played within our means and look to the draft (or FA next summer) than give up this ransom for someone who has a damn good chance of getting injured, and even if he doesn't, not do anywhere near enough (playoff win minimum) to justify the price.

Slightly different subject, my first season subscribing to ESPN player, a lot of the games I wanted to watch are not on demand. Is this normal or does it take a while for them to come up?

Great start for Houston yesterday. Greg Ward Jr, Brandon Wilson and Linnell Bonner

Funnily enough, that's the exact same thing my mate who supports the Vikings said too. Doesn't mind the move but hates giving up the 1st.

Well as for the 53 man roster cuts the Lions made one very surprising move and one I really don't agree with. Firstly they cut WR TJ Jones, coming into the season he was seen as the clear no. 3 WR. Reps with the 1st team throughout, when the 1st didn't play pre-season he didn't, and he was being used as kickoff returner - now gone. Only 4 WRs on the roster, been a lot of 3 WR sets played pre-season so could be very interesting the direction this goes, but once again points to Boldin being a lot more involved than anyone thought.

The one I don't like is QB Jake Ruddock - he's been cut, after looking decent throughout camp and pre-season, I don't like it because there is now only 2 QBs and one of them is Dan Orlovsky. Orlovksy has looked frankly crap in pre-seson games, whereas Ruddock has looked half decent. Orlovsky is STILL synonymous with the 0-16 season, he's never shown anything, ever, to suggest he is even a decent backup, yet he stays and the rookie goes. Hopefully Ruddock will clear waivers and be put on the practice squad.

Kept a couple of UDFA as well, including TE Cole Wick, who with the current injury crisis at TE could well see a hell of a lot more snaps than he probably thought possible.

Barrington claimed by the Chiefs on waivers. Hope he does well.

Bishop Sankey now on the Pats practice squad.

This Notre Dame - Texas game is a real doozy. 21-14 to the Longhorns approaching HT. Freshman Texas QB is having a breakout game and a dude named Equanimeous cart wheeled into the endzone.

Really just looking forward to getting it all started now after all the hype, I'm taking the Panthers to beat the Broncos on the opening day as well after last years SB loss.

Jesus, some turnaround in this Ole Miss v Flordia State game.

Ole Miss were 28-6 up just over 2 minutes before half time. Less than a quarter later and they are down 36-28.

Hopefully. Almost all of my work is away on a company trip on Friday, so I could easily go in late/work from home, but it's also my daughters first day at school so not sure if I can get away with being bleary-eyed on Friday morning for a seminal parenting moment!

I'd like to but sadly have to be in work at some ridiculous time of the morning so more than likely not. Especially as the Pats game is on SNF may have to prioritise that one for feeling like shit all day.

Panthers to win and get some small amount of revenge for the Super Bowl though. I suspect (and hope) Denver will suffer a significant drop off this year.

I'll be watching. Hoping Cam Newton can show some of the same magic he displayed last season. Wether you like him or not, you can't deny him and the Panthers were damn entertaining. Hopefully last season wasn't a fluke by him. Also intriguing to see how the Broncos fair. Lost a number of key players and yes, Manning and Osweiler were decidedly average last season, but Siemian going up against that Panthers D?

Got a feeling the Panthers may steam roll over the Broncos here, they will be after revenge big time.

On another note, had my first ticket come through for the Stadium series(Colts v Jags). Nice little pack to be fair, although the fold out instruction guide is a bit ridiculous. Can't take any sort of bag unless its an NFL labelled pre-approved bag that you have to buy. Jeez. Either way, looking forward to this one, only a few weeks away now.

The one thing in Siemians favour I guess is there is very little film on him so may be the slight element of surprise there. The flip side of course is he will never have experienced an NFL team game-planning for him before and all the different looks you just don't get in the pre-season. The likes of Demariyus will really need to step up a lot more than they did last year if they are to have a chance. If the Panthers have a weakness its the secondary, doubt Denver can exploit it though.

Agree on enjoying watching the Panthers though, personally speaking not so much because of Cam (though he is very good) but Luke Kuechly who is just exceptional at everything he does. It's a joy to watch him work when they are on defence.
