Thought experiment:

Take that Chargers statement and alter a few words, so that it's a San Diego city pol describing negotiations over a new stadium, whilst the Chargers threaten to leg it to LA/Las Vegas/London/Mars.

But if he sits out a year this holdout is utterly pointless. Bosa is going to lose this, it's now up to him how badly. All of the draft picks around him have signed deals where they have deferred bonuses, as things stand Bosa is getting no bonus whatsoever. He is now not even going to play a full 16 games (if fit throughout) so will now get a contract to reflect that.
If this is a plan to get traded his stance is putting off every other team, if he's happy to sit a year and get re-drafted does he honestly think he'll go in the 1st round next year? Frankly he'll be lucky to go 3rd round and all of a sudden he is once again not worrying about offset language and bonuses.
I agree that the Chargers have fucked this up, they should have bent some on their offset language and bonus rules but Bosa and his team have also completely mis-read everything and holding out this late the only winner will be the Chargers.
