Can't understand why people are getting excited about wickets.

For me, I'd have a defensive field trying to stifle the run rate and trying to prolong our time out there, meaning that Australia have to spend more time in the middle, so they have less time in the field to take 20 wickets.

Also, it's not promising to see that the ball has been doing a bit today. That's slightly concerning.

Lyth and Cook need to come in when the Aussies declare, get their heads down and bat for hours. This pitch is made for Cook.

Wicket is deteriorating Aus will want to take 20 wickets inside 3 days (if they can enforce the follow on). Only chance they will have of winning on this pitch. Best England can hope for is a draw. It's vital that we avoid the follow on at the very least

They've declared at 8/566 1 over after tea.

Our openers need to get their heads down, be disciplined and bat long. This inevitably means that one of them will get caught playing at one outside off for 12.

Just as I said, apart from he didn't even manage 12.

I predicted a wicket in the first 5 overs, it's typical england.

It's a needless shot. If they're planning on coming out and playing positively they can knock that on the head straight away. Absolutely no chance of England win it, so why not just bat it out?

More brains in a pork pie.

Go on Joe Root, dig the top order out of the shit yet again and paper over the cracks. Please.

So we've switched pitches in the 10 minute interval between innings? Because these Aussie bowlers are making this flat Lords pitch look like Perth's finest.

Brainless batting.Playing needless shots.Wouldn't worry about it raining on Sunday. The way we are batting it will be over by tomorrow evening.

Not the first time in 2015 the top order have not performed.

Cook has dug in nicely so far, however he needs to realistically bat all day tomorrow and hope Stokes, Buttler and Ali can hang around for long periods with him.

Think the weather is going to be irrelevant, it will still leave Monday which is more than enough time for the Aussies the way it's going.

Shame Stokes went but Cook still there.

Mind you cannot afford to lose another wicket so soon after lunch because then it get towards the tail.

Probably, forecat has changed now anyway.

And Buttler very, very lucky that didn't carry just now.

Edit: Although technically i guess it did carry just grassed it at the same time.

Will the Aussies enforce the follow on?

Don't often do so...

Doesn't really matter, either way we can't save the match from this point but i suspect they'll go out and get another 200 or so just to put us firmly in our place.

I much preferred it when we were on top back in Cardiff.

Well our top order cannot seem to hold their own which hardly helps.

Relying on one of Cook or Root to have a massive innings I think.

312 is criminal on this pitch, no we have to try and bat for 2 days. Only the weather can save us.
