Wade's keeping is not considered good enough these days and he's seen as one who has had his chance.

Tim Paine probably should be next in line but he's had injury problems in recent times.

Nevill's keeping is probably not any better than Wade's by all accounts but, typical of modern keepers, he's a very useful batter with plenty of shield cricket experience. He has often been selected as a specialist batter in shield cricket.

You have to think they're taking a gamble on Starc that could backfire very badly. It's better for him to miss one game and play the next three as, if he struggles with his injury at Lords, he could easily then miss the rest of the series.

Young lad? He's 29...

I dunno why Wade's not here though. Is he injured? Nevill's always been a very good batsman but I'm not sure how good his keeping is.

Comparatively speaking, to Haddin and the rest of Corporal Jones and his crew.

Be a shame if Moeen Ali is ruled out after an impressive showing in Cardiff...but a chance for Rashid to prove himself at test level.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali is a doubt for the second Ashes Test against Australia, which starts at Lord's on Thursday, because of a side injury.

The Worcestershire off-spinner's fitness will be assessed during practice at Lord's on Wednesday.

Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid will be picked if Moeen is deemed unfit.

Australia win the toss and bat

Not really sure what the best option would have been then, perhaps chooses to bat just shaded it. All depends what the sun does to the wicket at the end of day 3 onwards.

These types of wickets are so boring. It's ok in limited overs but the ball is doing nothing at all

This has been such a crap day to watch. I know I'm an England fan and obviously we haven't had a good day, but nothing has really happened. No excitement, hardly any appeals, just dull.

Have had to vent my frustrations at Lords on Twitter. Ridiculous wicket to produce.

I suppose seeing some cricket, even on a shit lifeless pitch is better than it being rained off, like up north...

Incredible how we seemingly want to lessen our own chances by creating these terrible wickets. Everything should be being done to insure we have wickets which are advantagous to us. I know we're a nation obsessed with 'fair play' but c'mon this is ridiculous.

The Cardiff result was almost entirely down to the pitch being to England's favour. You can't rely on it all the time, England will score on this pitch too anyway.

Disappointing but then if we score as well then the game will be a draw which suits us.

In general we have a poor record against Australia at lords, so wouldn't be a surprise if it was a case of kill this game, take a draw and move on to the third test still 1-0 up.

If they get to 550-600 before the end of today, I think they'll declare and put us in for a few late overs.

Well we've got our wicket for the day.

Just got to wait for the Aussies to get bored of batting practice now.

Not exactly a bad review, would have been staying out if reviewed the other way by the batsman if given.
