Average attendances 2014/15

With only 1 or 2 games remaining for sides, average attendances are going to be pretty much settled.

Is your average about where you thought it would be at the beginning of the season? more? less?

For Mansfield, though we are down in 20th I am quite happy we average more than 3,000

When Luton visited other grounds, they averaged the highest average of 5,328. Alternatively, the least desirable team to come and watch at your place was Bury averaging 3,959. http://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-league-two-2014-2015/2/

Ours is way below where I thought it would be. If we were up the top which is what I expected, I'd say our average would be around the 7000 mark.

Agree that ours is poor considering our excellent home form and generally how well the season has gone - it was 5,750ish in our last promotion season so currently 600 down on that. Just shows how disillusioned the fanbase was after last seasons shambles.

However I imagine the Plymouth game will be pretty much a sellout and there should be a decent crowd v York on Saturday.

I actually thought Bury's would be higher, especially with the season they're having. Granted they have a tough catchment area as we've all said before, but 3500 is at least a thousand below where I'd maybe expect them to be. Same with York although their home form this season is probably to blame for a lot of that.

Ours is below what I anticipated, but the lack of a 4th stand is partly a cause of this. We have missed out on extra away fans because of the reduced capacity.

We must have been pretty close on the opening day weren't we? Can't remember exactly how many we took now.

I think considering our dire home form and season as a whole ours is not bad at all. I would hope for over 4000 next season if we improve and hopefully nearer 5000 first season in the new stadium.

Wycombe's is a bit out of town mind which makes some difference I imagine. If Oxford and Shrewsbury were city centre or at least within walking distance of housing and the city/town in general, it's guaranteed they'd get more.

Which is why I don't understand why sides like York think about having grounds out of town, they are just not as convenient.

Dedicated fans will walk say, 20 minutes from town to the ground, but the part-timer probably wouldn't when the 20 minutes is in the driving rain in November

Our average is 3,660 at present for league 1 games, our final home game is all ticket against Northampton so although many say we tinpot we will probably end up with an average of over 4,000 which isn't too bad as we have only been in the league for 6 seasons.
Encouragingly our younger fan base is growing, they have never known anything other than league football.

Pretty sure literally no-one likes grounds that are a 15 minute cab-ride away from the town/city. Shit for home fans, even shitter for away fans and shitter still for local businesses who would have picked up some serious trade from all types of supporters. Feel like I drum on about this on every thread similar to one like this, but it really frustrates me. I know you can't always build a ground slap bang where everything is, but at least within walking distance surely.

Plus Oxford costs more for a cab from the city centre to the ground than a return ticket to London - got to look out for myself here.

Which makes my point about Bury's departure (which I expect and welcome) not being the biggest financial disaster for the division. Equivalent to Rangers leaving the SPL? Come on shoddy.

Out attendances are almost a thousand (certainly 5-600) more than I expected, even allowing for South Stand initiatives and the clever marketing around the ManUre event. That probably reflects my jaundiced first hand experience of the Abbey in League 2 - just a couple of seasons of John Taylor and the farce of Claude and Herve.

But a town the size of ours should be getting more, People around here have so many excuses to not bother supporting us. Biggest game of our season Tuesday night and we manged about 2500 home fans.

That said whilst I do think the price is too high, We have done 3 games at £7 this season and not one attendence was anything worth shouting about.

Delighted with ours, as habbinalan said, about 500-750 more than I thought.

Shame they're mainly been served up turds since the Man U match.
