CC Sabathia is being treated for alcoholism. Sad but it's good that he's seeking help, obviously.

That was totally expected given the way we've played the last 10 days.

We've played old the second half of the season, and I'm not sure how we can change that this off season with the contracts we have on the books.

Those Yankees were gash weren't they. I could've done better at bat than that lot did last night. Mind you that Keuchal pitcher for the Astros was a monster.

He shut us out 3 times this year.

Something that has cheered me up; John Lackey has an era under 3 and is starting game 1 of the NLDS for the Cards. No more Popeyes for him I guess.

Given the way they slapped us about all year, I am enjoying seeing the Blue Jays losing.

Let's go Cubs!

Lackey's velocity has increased this year at 37.

Oh I'm sure he's just using supplements and vitamins like your boy Ortiz. All perfectly innocent of course.

Has anyone seen the Utley slide from last night? He's no where near the bag, how can it be deemed a clean play?

I saw it and it looked very reckless indeed. Broke the outfielders leg too. It was a remarkable 7th innings and the Mets capitulated completely. Hopefully they can recover at the home games upcoming.

Because players play HARD in this non-contact sport. It was a bizarre incident, don't 100% understand the rules about whether it's a neighbourhood play or not (I am assuming it was borderline) and take-out slides are a bit silly but legal...some common sense dictates there's levels to that though and you can't just sprint at an infielder and drop-kick them in the head so your mate doesn't get a groundout.

He was a good few feet away from the bag, and didn't even tag it. The rules do also allow for him to be called out, as his only intent was clearly to break up the double play.

No I watched the Astros v Royals late through the night and the Royals were good value in their win. They look to have a lot of determination about them and may go far.

The Mets hung on in the end to book that last place in the next round. Still haven't seen these Blue Jays play yet!

I like this story, be even crazier if it comes true! I'm a Mets fan (and Tigers, but less said about them the better), so don't want it to! my Uncle lives in New York so they are the only home team I've seen live. They started really strongly and I said to him do you think they are for real. He reckoned they'd cock it up 'cos it's the Mets'. I'll have to give him a call to see if he is making it to any of the games.

It could very well happen for the Cubs and it would be amazing were it to happen after 107 years without success and after Back To The Future showed it in the second film! :D

I'm rooting for the Cubs but not looking good.

It's just game 1. They beat the Mets 7 times out of 7 in the regular season, so not like they have the hoodoo over them.

Fantastic stuff from the Blue Jays tonight. Estrada had the game of his life. If they can pitch like that, with everything their offense is capable of, they can still win this matchup. Btw, what a noise they make at their place, it is deafening. Hard not to like a team like this.
