Palmer always plays well against us, but then we're usually a soft touch for a striker with skill but who most competent League 2 defenders can stick in their back pocket. Perhaps we'll nullify him at long last.

All about the #bantz, innit.

Sparrow and Crazy have a love/hate/mutual respect relationship.

I just find it funny that you're getting abuse off Non-leaguers, if you can't shake them off then maybe it's where you belong!

Abuse? :animatedf:

It's all to do with the Natural Order™, as devised by Master D.

By the way Lincoln fans, you were always known as being a boring long ball hoof team with 7 foot players back in the day, is this still the case in 2017?

Yes...

Really hoping we can get off the mark here. The longer we go without a win, the more likely that the locals will become restless. They've become accustomed to us winning most games so this is a bit of a shock to the newer fans. Many of us can remember us being shit for a long, long time so it's not a shock, but there are some short memories amongst the 6000 season ticket holders.

And you can fuck off with your Cumberland sausages; please note that genuine Lincolnshire sausages have nothing to do with the crap you get in supermarkets. Get a good one from a decent butcher (I recommend Wisby in Horncastle, Market Rasen and Wragby) and there will be no competition.

We never were a boring long ball, hoof team but we were direct. They weren't aimless long balls to no-one in particular but a direct ball to a target man and played from there. Contrary to popular belief, we had a lot of smaller players in KA squads. He always had two of his three CB's 6'3"+ and a target man. But then we had the likes of Marriott, Morgan, Bailey, Bimson, Bloomer, Cornelly, Yeo, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Smith, Pearce, Willis etc and we were particularly small in wider areas. His two CM's at the time were Gain and Butcher, both 6' but there were footballers rather than cloggers. Gain in particular was a particularly technical player.

Anyway, Carlisle fans, get yourself here early and you can have a wander through Lincoln and witness some Steampunk costumes from this years Steampunk festival.

You were never a boring long ball hoof team?

Maybe you're not old enough but Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you John Beck and those lovely sandy corner flags!!

Long ball doesn't necessarily mean boring and John Beck's idea of long ball certainly wasn't. Boring is when the ball is just booted aimlessly up the field, but that wasn't General Beck's style, at least when he was here. Can't speak for his time at Lincoln though.

Graham Taylor was direct when he was our manager as were many others as you say John Beck, not pretty at times at all but it does get results.
Anyone who thinks we're big, physical and direct needs to watch a team down the road from Carlisle, Barrow are probably the ugliest, nastiest side I've seen in many years.
We were on telly live 12 times last season, watch those that's how we play pretty much, we mix it up.
Direct into Rheady, pass through teams, try catch teams on the break with pace(see the Ipswich winner ) and we were very good at scoring from corners and free kicks last season too, at the mo the bloke who took most of them is coming back from injury so I doubt he'll play tomorrow.

What do expect from a team managed by Paul Cox? He's been sacked now though so maybe things will change.

Down the road is a cosy way of saying an hour and a half drive away.

Don't think many see you as ugly and direct. It's simply carver making stuff up as usual.

I watched you on a number of occasions last season and there was some good football, long and short.

We will go long ball at times as well.

Try telling Keith Curle that. You'd think you were about to play a Tony Pulis side!

I was at Holker Street for that bullying and purred at the sight of it. Cox and Barrow looked a match made in.....well perhaps not heaven, until Paul Casson got cold feet. Farmer Rhead will probably rival Kevin Ellison this season in his ability to provide sideshow entertainment to ref and fans alike.

I'm sure Cox'll be doing the ugly businees in the National League again shortly, if not at Hartlepool or Torquay then Wrexham looks a good potential fit by Christmas

Why? I've watched his interview and I don't hear him saying that. He says you play off a big man, but so do we.

And I bet you wish you played like West Brom!

There was a bit on your OS. Can't remember exact wording.

In other news there are only 200 tickets left in the home ends today apparently, which I find difficult to believe. That'll mean about an 8,500 attendance. Luckily, it seems they're in talks to change how the SW is split on games like today when the away side won't be taking up the whole stand. A waste of a lot of seats otherwise (until people lose interest and we're down to 'normal' attendances).

Keith Curle makes a lot of the opponents' physicality before pretty much every game, I don't know what purpose it serves but we could be playing Arsenal and he'd still say they're a big physical team who do the ugly side of the game very well.

He's always saying he likes us to be more physical, get in the other team's pants, earn the right to play and so on so I think he's just trying to get in his players' heads that they're going to be up against a tough tackling team who hold no quarters each and every game.

Adams is on the bench.

Our line up is

____________________Bonham______________________
T.Miller________Ellis________Parkes________Grainger
________________Liddle_____Jones__________________
______Lambe________Devitt_________Hope_________
____________________Bennett_______________________

On the bench: George, Brown, Joyce, Adams, Kennedy, Cosgrove, S.Miller

Can only assume we're going to go a bit long ball, unless Adams is carrying a knock, as he'd start every game unless we were planning something which absolutely doesn't suit his style.

I give it five minutes before Hello Gregory makes his usual comment about our starting line up looking shocking.

More on the topic of Barrow, they're discussing in on BBCRC and apparently the style of football was a factor in Cox's resignation. Cox had been grumbling about lack of transfer funds but it was more that Casson didn't want to give Cox funds to sign a player he wanted to sign who was a 'classic Cox player' who had previously been banned for biting, and apparently Barrow fans were staying away because they didn't like the style of football.

I actually like the lineup. Liddle and jones in midfield I like the look of. (Assuming that's how it lines up). Do you not think it be more 442 with Hope and Bennett.

I would have started Adams, I don't think it's cos we're going more long cos that wouldn't suit Jamie Devitt any more than Nicky.

I don't think it will matter much, I stand by my Lincoln win prediction.

I'm just going off what Phillips and Lumsdon reckon it's going to be. One other alternative was a 3-5-2 with Liddle as a wing-back, Jones, Lambe and Devitt as the midfield three and Hope and Bennett up front. Maybe that's the plan to try and contain Lincoln's strikers.

First mention of Rhead in the commentary:

1-0 down

No surprise but still disappointing. I'm not worried about this defeat as long as it doesn't turn into a thrashing. I've seen enough of us to feel we'll be ok this season which is more than I thought a few weeks ago.

In all honesty, we're an ok team. We're not going to go down but we're not going to worry the top 7. I fully expected defeat today because we're not a strong team like Lincoln.

So for every win or point we pick up there's going to be as many days like today where we're simply not good enough. I think next week will be another one particularly with a botched up back 4.

At the start of the season I expected a relegation battle. Although we're probably the worst team lincoln have faced, I feel we're better than relegation material.

0 points today doesn't concern me.
