All fun an games mate, all fun an games. NEVER make the mistake of taking me seriously!!

Always assume any comments about Franchise are serious. :fl:

I do genuinely remember wee willy winky kicking up a fuss after that season opener back in 2006.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me -- But the old Wimbledon club moved to Milton Keynes and became MK Dons. AFC Wimbledon are a new club and have very little connection to the old club.

Most will disagree with you and that's mainly because you're wrong.

How can you say AFC Wimbledon have very little connection to the old club?

That's like me saying the sky isn't blue, might be wrong but just my opinion.

AFC Wimbledon was formed by Wimbledon supporters on Wimbledon Common.
The majority of Wimbledon supporters went to follow AFC Wimbledon.
Their colours/badge are Wimbledon.
They will soon hopefully be playing back at Plough Lane.

The list goes on. The only thing that even remotely links MK Dons and the old Wimbledon is the place in the football league.

That's debatable, we inherited the squad and staff, and are still paying something towards the pension plans I believe.
I'm beginning to think of it like this, while the fact that most of the fans follow them, and location place AFC as 'the real Wimbledon' there is no doubt in the legal/financial side of matters.

So what your saying "I'm not allowed an opinion" if its not agreeable with yourself ? Forums are all about opinions -- some you agree with some you don't but still opinions.

AFC Wimbledon are the spiritual continuation of Wimbledon FC, there is no denying that. They have the same colours, the vast, vast majority of Wimbledon fans moved over to support AFC Wimbledon and unlike us, they frequently reference/bring up the old Wimbledon history. AFC Wimbledon are the closest thing to the original Wimbledon, even more so when their new stadium is built in Plough Lane.

We are the legal continuation, in that the same assets, players, infrastructure etc of Wimbledon FC moved to Milton Keynes. However, today's club is no reflection of Wimbledon FC, never has been and never will be. We don't ever reference Wimbledon FC, or mention anything pre-2004. We handed back the honours to Merton council a while ago. The club treats itself as a new entity and no link to Wimbledon. The only remaining vestiges are Dean Lewington and Paul Heald, both still with the club after their Wimbledon days.

Apart from not yet 'dropping the Dons' name, since the move in 2004 I think we have conducted ourselves well in terms of distancing ourselves and not pretending to be something we're not.

I have no major issue with AFC Wimbledon, they have a reason to exist and I can appreciate how well they have done to rise through the football pyramid so quickly. The only issue I have is when AFC Wimbledon claim the honours/achievements of the old Wimbledon, yet contradict themselves by saying they have done things for the first time as well, such as play in the football league. It's just not a true reflection of history.

As far as I'm concerned, Wimbledon FC and AFC Wimbledon should be separated in terms of honours/achievements. But AFC Wimbledon are the spiritual continuation.

Appreciate what you're saying, but I think that legal/financial side of matters falls under the umbrella of 'the place in the football league'.

For most football fans, the connections to a football club are considered to be spiritually and morally.

But in this case I'm not

I asked why you thought that AFC Wimbledon have no connection to the old club, you can't answer.

I then gave you a small list of many reasons as to why the two clubs do have a connection.

MK Dons fans disagree with you.

You are wrong.

Ok, still not true and still no reasoning as to why you think this.

Anyway, no point wasting our time going on and on about it. It's nothing personal, George and I appreciate opinions are opinions but just think this one is more of an inaccurate statement, and that's just my opinion :bg:

The only clubs who've at least finished in the top half of the championship in the last decade? Maybe Plymouth as well

The rest of you are embarrassingly small, and I mean that sincerely

As for attendances, if you use a clubs largest average attendance between 1986 and now.. it's as follows:

Blackburn Rovers - 27,714
Charlton Athletic - 26,403
Wigan Athletic - 20,223
Portsmouth - 20,108
Bradford City - 18,511
Plymouth Argyle - 16,420
Blackpool - 15,775
Oldham Athletic - 15,087
Doncaster Rovers - 11,964
Oxford United - 11,009
Rotherham United - 10,240
Southend United - 10,024
Bristol Rovers - 9,302
Gillingham - 9,293
Peterborough United - 9,111
Walsall - 7,853
Scunthorpe United - 6,434
Northampton Town - 6,389
Bury - 6,177
Shrewsbury - 5,876
AFC Wimbledon - 4,477 (18k as WFC)
Rochdale - 3,556
Fleetwood Town - 3,522

Obvious flaws such as PL years giving certain clubs inflated attendances, however as a general table it looks fairly accurate in terms of club size?

Blackburn again at the top.
Despite spending 5 years of that period in non-league football we are still bigger, better and more loyal than that irrelevant shite below us. Anyone getting an average attendance below 11,000 should be ashamed ,... FACT

In the last 12 years we've been in the Championship twice and I'm sure we lasted longer than you both times. It was a travesty you were there in the first place. For the last 5 years or so, we've averaged more than you took to the playoff final.
And we've lasted longer than YOU

Finishing 12th in the championship doesn't make you a massive club. Trying to compare yourself to Charlton, Blackburn and Portsmouth using a stat likes that just makes you look insignificant.

I'm unconvinced about Mowbray. Think Wigan will become a yoyo club between the second and the third. I think we'll finish midtable and Charlton will be up there but Bradford won't find the form of last season.

In terms of biggest to smallest clubs, for what it's worth, I'd rank as follows...

1. Charlton
2. Blackburn
3. Pompey
4. Bradford
5. Bristol Rovers
6. Oxford
7. Millers
8. Plymouth
9. Oldham
10. Wigan
11. Blackpool
12. Peterborough
13, Gillingham
14. Southend
15. Northampton
16. Walsall
17. Wimbledon
18. Bury
19. Shrewsbury
20. Donny
21. Scunthorpe
22. Rochdale
23. MK
24. Fleetwood
I'm interested to see how you would justify ourselves been 20th and Rotherham been 7th? What was the point in doing this? No one actually believes even a Rotherham fan would be deluded enough to think they're bigger than Plymouth or Donny are smaller than Walsall.

You don't have some divine right to be wrong. People like you are what's wrong with the modern world. You are wrong so change your opinions.
