Well yeah, it directly contradicts earleir statements he made before he got the boot. He claims(ed) to have had the final descision on transfers, which makes total sense being the manager and all, but also claims he had Balo foisted on him, stating he didn't want him at all.

“It was a group decision; it was certainly not something where I would have the sole final say."

So in which instance is he lying?

Isn't it plausible he was lying whilst under employment as arguably he wasn't keen to upset anybody when his job was under threat? Hardly the first person who felt obligated to not slander his employers.

Of course he could be trying to absolve himself now, but it's not impossible.

it's possble, ofc. merely giving my opinion based on what's been said and when it's been said. he said transfers were down to him when things were going ok. as soon as they weren't, he apparently had no control and was sacked for someone elses mistakes. i suspect he's recently been talking utter wet in an attempt to play down his involvement in spending 300 million quid and taking the club backwards in the process. the fact that klopp has today confirmed he has the final say on transfers only backs up my suspicions.
