Been thinking about what else we would need to be ready plus cover the potential departure of JK.
let's have Alex Pearce back to cover the center halves and try for Lewis Grabban on loan with a view to a permanent deal. If JK does leave / is missing for the ACON, we have a ready made replacement and we could use any JK money to pay a permanent transfer fee.
Wass reckon?

Pearce would be adequate cover, whether he'd want to come back knowing he's back up is another question, similar with Grabban would he really want to come here with Kodjia knowing he's unlikely to be the main man, where as if he were to get loaned out there are probably quite a few clubs where he would be.

Maybe not a popular option but what about bringing Kenwyne Jones in until January if it could be agreed with his new MLS club, they're starting in March so he could use some football to maintain fitness until then and we need another back up to Kodjia. We could then revisit the situation January should it look like Kodjia will/has gotten the call up.

I would have said the Danny Rodriguez one was worse bud, I'm not sure if he ever played again.
Was before my time supporting City that, I'd literally just moved to the area.

That Rodriguez one was hideous. You heard the snap. You had people fainting ( well one did next to me) Didn't we go onto stuff Reading that day?

I think we did mate. I was stood at the top of the old Dolman steps at the corner with the east end so it was right in front of me. I remember the skinhead center half they had looking back at Danny on the ground and then stamping back on him, it was horrible. IIRC, Tommy Doc threw up when he saw the damage. I don't think DR ever played again although he tried, he was decent as well.

I'm still traumatised by Elokobi's. Happened right in front of us. Studs caught in the turf and his body kept going :eyes:

I had a good view of Elokobi's unfortunately and heard it too.

Hasn't Jones 'shot his bolt' though? He did the square root of f' all at Cardiff and was on big money by all accounts. If we could get Grabban, I could see him and JK rotating as, I think, JK hardly ever played 90 minutes last season and was a sub at times. Grabban is quick and powerful like JK too. Keeping both happy could be an issue but a nice problem for LJ IF we went for him. We definitely need another striker after all and even if JK stays, we lose him for nigh on 2 months don't we with the ACON and pre-tournament training camp?

Cardiff friends say despite not scoring he wasn't all bad but the lack of goals was why he didn't get a new contract, can't think he'll be on big money over in USA, just trying to think of cheap back up options for the time being/people who will be content to not start every game.

I have to eat some humble pie with regards to City and tip my hat to Mark Ashton. I thought he was all buzz words, smarm and waffle but he's done exactly what he said he was going to do, along with LJ and SL's obvious backing.
Good job MA.

I can still hear his scream to this day. I was a kid so was in what then was the family family stand, it happened about 20 feet away.

Made some very good signings this summer but I think we will finish about 14th, just progression onto the next season

I'd be happy with that; look to build on the second half of last season.

Same here, more than happy with mid table but, as always, we hope for more.
Looking good outside too now..

Looking very nice.

I see Delboy is finally getting round to having that extension built, just hope it isn't painted with paint supplied by trigger.

don't you miss the old ground?
At times Mark but the new Gate is stunning. Some of us will always hanker for the old place but we understand it was needed and there's genuinely no other ground of its size which comes close facility wise, it's that good.
