According to Grayson and Ridsdale at our fans forum last night, Abraham's wage at Chelsea is 3 times more than our highest earner (rumoured to be ~£10K :eyes:)
I don't doubt it. We paid £1.5m to get him here for the season.

Another reason why we won't be signing him then! The best we can hope for is another season on loan as the lad is obviously enjoying himself at our place.

Covered his wages maybe?
After watching his 'head to head' against Bobby, maybe he should spend a few quid on some educational lessons. He wasn't the sharpest, let's put it that way. :ffs:

Is it?

What exactly are Bristol City's aims this season? This isn't a dig in any way but surely it's only worth it if his goals help you reach that goal?

This isn't a player you can mould or build around or even one that has any re-sale value for you as he's going back next year, you've obviously gambled with the aim to achieve something in particular this season, if you don't then it hasn't been worth it surely.

Mate, they're thick as pig shit. One couldn't work out 9 x 12. There was another who didn't know what an 'average' was. Really was quite an eye opener. I'm no Einstein but fuck me.......

Oh he's absolutely worth it.

What is £1.5m to a wealthy championship club nowadays? 1/10th of what we got for Kodjia for us.

The ambition was top six, I don't think we'll achieve that this season but he's keeping us in with a shout. Will have to see what we do in January with lots and lots of money in the bank.

Completely appreciate that it's risk-free with your wealthy owners, just question whether it's 'worth it' if ultimately you fail to make your target of the top 6 especially as he's your main goal scoring threat and with him returning to Chelsea in the summer, you're £1.5m down and back to square one.

Like I say, not a criticism just genuinely interested as from the outside £1.5m for a one year loan seems excessive.

Yeah it does mate, but if you look at some of the loan fees in the last couple of years in this division, notably Chris Martin (£2.5m) and Matej Vydra (£2.5m) it doesn't look that bad in comparison. Cheap gamble nowadays.

You might be able to afford it, or your owner at least but it's stupid money to pay for 1 season. I said it about Rhodes with his wages but Abraham who is unproven could buy Daniel Johnson with 2 weeks wages and have 10k spare.

No it's not, it's the going rate in this league nowadays.

That's a nice example, but we got Aden Flint for £300k, Marlon Pack for less than £500k etc, you're not the only club that can sniff out a bargain.

Let me give you an example, you paid £1m for Stevie May who is proven naff. What about that?

Stevie May has made 4 starts I think it was before getting injured so can't be called naff yet.

I never said we were the only club to sniff out a bargain, I was just saying how it was stupid to spend that kind of money on a player who you will have for 1 season. I understand it's the going rate nowadays but it still doesn't make it any less stupid.

4 starts while we were playing utter bollocks as well, I think he will do quite well in our current team.

7 goals in 26 starts for what was a low scoring Wednesday side wasn't bad going in his first season at this level.

As for Abraham, worth a punt if you can afford it without batting an eyelid, frustrating if his goals don't contribute to a successful season though and you're back to square one in the summer.

Well you've made it seem like we spent nearly half a million on him..
Don't be pedantic. I said less than £500k so go and figure that one out. Signed in the summer of 2013 for an undisclosed fee.

Depends on your definition of poor I guess. Its our lowest gate of the season by quite some way, and poor compared to other clubs but if you compare it with equivelant fixtures in previous years, its clearly a big improvement. We would get home gates of 12000 odd for these kind of fixtures in our last Championship spell.

Tuesday night before Christmas, against Brentford when we're home to PNE Saturday. Traffic in Bristol in the evening has been terrible recently too.

Fair enough, given the stadium improvements and the clamour I've seen on here by some perhaps I expected a few more but Luke and yourself make excellent points

A few thousand have fucked off now we're shit again, basically. New ground factor is also seemingly wearing off quickly. Personally wish we left the Gate as it was, home games are an absolute morgue now.

Last night? it is every week. I'm actually bored at home games these days.

The other home games I've been to this season were Newcastle, Blackburn, Ipswich and last night. Thought the Newcastle atmosphere was good and Ipswich ok, but Blackburn and Brentford poor. I'm not sure what the club can do to improve it really.
