Tinpot allocations for some games this season, £10 to get the equivalent membership point was a no brainer. We just paid for Shrews electric bill for the next month, people shroud be thanking us for sharing the wealth :)
Not to them though eh, we need them to finish lower than us not give them funds for January (although they may buy some more of our fringe players which after last night they are welcome to).

Just want to know . What sort of people go to these type of games. They cannot lead very interesting lives.
:bg: This is very true.

But the reality is, if my team was to ever reach the final, would I go? Well yeah and so would most others.

If I’m gonna go to the final and be a hypocrite anyway after not going to the earlier rounds, then I may as well go to the earlier rounds as well.

Anyone on here who says they wouldn’t go to the final is either a liar, or takes football too personally IMO. :surr:

I watched ours last night on telly even though I live 5 mins from the ground and could have easily gone. Definitely wouldn't go to a final of this crap. I despise going to Wembley after so many shit experiences going there. Would have to force myself there if we got to a playoff final though.

I watched it on TV but only really to see some of our fringe players (and because it was on and I didn't have to pay any money). I suppose it's similar motivation to going to watch Reserve games- if you're not doing anything else why not?

Pretty much this. We don’t have a proper reserve side, so these games are the only opportunity to see any of the new younger players that might be coming into contention for the first team.

I don’t think the argument that allowing the EPL kids’ teams in to this competition is the thin end of the wedge to allowing EPL B teams into the lower leagues really holds true.

Sure, I don’t trust the powers that be not to water down the integrity of the game even further for a short-term coin or two, but in the case of this specific competition it was always shit anyway, and I don’t think the presence of EPL U23s has made it worse.

You can also do what we did and sign one of the Prem kids on loan if they do well against you - if you can use the games as an easy scouting exercise then why not?

I wouldn't go to the final. A boycott is a boycott.

Yeah I would never attend any game in this competition final or not.

I wish they got rid of the U21 while keeping the financial rewards decent, if this was taken seriously it’d be a great competition for all us in L1/2 used to never winning anything other than the occasional promotion.

Finally found a point to this competition. Brought on Demi Mitchell for his first game in a whole year, comes on and scores.

At least we made 10 changes tonight. I see Birmingham started with Stansfield, Willumson and May!

Doesn't take much against us. We even made Carayol look dangerous.

Already out of the competition before the game but beat Newcastle 3-0.

Most of our previously injured players have recently come back but now require minutes so it was really useful to get the likes of Kilgour, Flint, Akins, Maris etc minutes.

Also the £10k prize for winning can pay our fine for celebrating promotion!

Chelsea u21s had a player they signed for £17 million on a 7 year contract playing for them last night. Just goes to show the disparity in money between the levels that they can afford to take such a punt. He was no better than any of our youngsters that were playing on the night

I get the feeling that a lot of these Premier League under 21s can't be arsed on a wet night in Stoke. But they no doubt think they are the next Foden or Bellingham so that's alright then

The other result in our group means we qualify for the next round without even playing, incredible stuff. Makes me even more tempted to go to the dead rubber against Tranmere in two weeks.

We won the other night, though thankfully we’re out.

Of course if you’re a proper fan you’d boycott the tournament due to B/under 21 sides in it anyway.

I've boycotted it so much I didn't even know we were playing Spurs U21's and Swindon until after the games finished

I'll say it again, boycott the U21s but not the others. Disparity of crowds is what will make them take notice, otherwise you're just telling the authorities your only problem is with the competition's existence, not the B-team stalking horse.

Nothing will make them take notice so long as its helping the big clubs, which after all is the most important thing in football

The problem is, when the under 21s turn up they attract the biggest crowds, mainly because (in our case) of the number of exiled Arsenal and Spurs fans living in the South West!!

Football League clubs will take notice if they see it's hitting them in the pockets. That's literally all that matters.

Man City U21’s for us tonight and we’ve chopped and changed as much as we can, arguably more than we can really because in our starting eleven we have one defender (who we should probably be resting anyway), five midfielders and four strikers.

Port Vale tonight. Feels like a reserve game, but on that note im looking forward to seeing some fringe players like Josh Adam and Matty James who haven't featured for the first team yet.

Playing 6 teenagers including the entire back 4 against Burton, so leading to a very open game.

Good side out, though Man City look dreadful. Presume they have the dregs as.anyone decent will be with the u21s or u20s.
