There were some funny moments on our side with throw ins - the ref was insistent on throw ins being taken from a different place to where the ball went out on some occasions. He even gave us the thumbs up in the Habbin at one point, while laughing and joking with the Luton players on another. Funny performance.

Well, I need to make an appointment for a pair of spec at specsavers asap, as I was certain Guttridge's goal came off Legge. Turns out it didn't.
Same with the Jpt cup game when I thought McFatty conceded the pen when it was Cuthbert :ffs:

But, now that I've watched the highlights more than once, I think I was wrong re. Dunk's handball. I said it was deliberate but there's no way it was. Ref should have just let it go. And why didn't useless Taylor jump for the ball for Luton's second? I think I've answered my own question.

I may get slaughtered for this, but I don't think Roberts had a shocker, except the pass for Gutts goal that is. I thought he handled CMS pretty well overall, which isn't an easy thing to do.

Thing is, it was actually a good tackle that looked bad. Imagine it looked worse in the ground but with the benefit of the replays you can clearly see him getting the ball. I'd class it as one that looked worse than it was, but you can see why the foul/yellows been given.

The second yellow doesn't need any further comment given how ridiculous it was. How that can be called deliberate handball is beyond me.

Otherwise, there were two far worse handballs (and I know it's not a sliding scale but despite not being 'deliberate' the two that didn't get were worse than the one that did) and the third that wasn't was. Surprised no mention of it.
Agree with all you say but I think Dunk's first one was a booking. If he got any of the ball (which is debatable at best on all the replays I've seen), he certainly followed through and clattered Guttridge. It's not as simple to say "he got the ball so no booking" - if he takes the man out with what is seen to be a reckless challenge then it's a booking. So I'm fine with that one.

Was it Luke Berry who could've easily given away a penalty?

Who ever says the second booking isn't harsh is just plain bitter. I can 100% agree with the he ref on the first one and understand why it's a booking although he did get a slight touch of the ball but took out guttridge. No studs showing, one foot, on the ground challenge, never a red and yellow was the right decision. For the second I was disgusted. No way in the world was it deliberate! Can't believe he got sent off for that! Thought it was very even before that but have seen two different opinions of Cambridge controlling before and Luton controlling before the sending off. Unsurprisingly own fans saying their own teams dominated before hand. I see it as very even. Luton edged it possession based but wasn't much threat, where we had a great spell of just piling on pressure and going at them again after again before the sending off. I think It clearly did change the game but was happy enough with spells of the game that show what we can do. We made a amazing chance where dunk put it on a plate for Simpson 6 yards out header and hasn't scored! Should have taken the lead. Tyler also pulled off a great save to deny corr of a header. Good team goal by Luton at the end.

As predicted by most a close game. Harsh second booking - it was point blank even if his arm could be adjudged to have moved it could be balance as well as reactionary flick. Would have expected the official to have given him the benefit of the doubt. Nice to see some respectful exchange between fans, makes a pleasant change considering the contentious potential flashpoint.

Simpson was off-side for the "open goal" that Dunk provided early on but it showed what was possible. After the preceding tinkering, I enjoyed the Corr/Simpson 442 with a clear purpose in winning opportunities to get the ball in the box for them. Whatever the result, there were plenty of positives until the sending off - but after that we showed a disappointing level of focus and leadership for all the experience on the pitch. Taylor (in partly for his height and heading ahead of Omozusi?) failed to defend the 2nd goal then we lost all threat or defensive focus - unacceptable whatever the manager was doing (learning more lessons whilst letting the bench know he didn't think that they offered better than a tiring Donaldson and Simpson?).

We all know that the idiots make up a minority of our respective support. I'm also confident that we can self-police those looking for confrontation or conflict on here. Whatever fellow U's (and I) feel about the detail and tactics in our club's approach to dealing with unacceptable behaviour at the match, I'm pleased that they are facing up to it and not glossing over the issues - they deserve our (critical and conditional) support, including defusing comments and actions when we get the opportunity.

Did anyone else pick up on mad Moneys post match rant, when he complained that the ref didn't give O'Donnell a second yellow. Just one flaw in that argument Dickie - O'Donnell (no 2)hadn't actually picked up a first yellow, it was Lee (no 19) who was booked. All of the press and the official site had no problem identifying the correct player, how come Dickie couldn't? And of course as the interviewers are scared of him, they daren't pick him up on his mistake. No doubt he will be issuing an apology quite soon..............
