This thing with Curle and youth players seems to only have cropped up in the last couple of weeks, I think since Nigel Clibbens said it was one of the things they were looking for in a manager. I don't really remember anyone complaining in the previous four years that Curle wasn't giving the youngsters a chance. More people seemed to be complaining that the kids who came through the academy simply weren't good enough and suggesting the board were trying to push them into the first team before they were ready with the whole development squad thing.

Youth players maybe but I’ve said for about 2 years and prob in posts on here that the squad needed some youth and energy added to it particularly in midfield, whether that be our own products or young players from elsewhere.

I don’t think they really give 2 fucks if they are academy players or just players like Wyke who Curle brought in for a low fee, developed and sold on. After Wyke he never took a chance on young players from bigger club reserve/academy teams

Decent appointment for Carlisle, given where they're apparently currently at.

As said, Sheridan does seem a bit similar to Allen in terms of doing a job on a short term level but not mid or long term.

claimed that he'd been sacked for an incredible touchline meltdown where he told the ref that he'd ruined his kids' Christmas and ended with him threatening to knock out a linesman,
That was against us wasn't it?

Cautiously optimistic about it, especially given some of the names we've been linked with. I don't expect us to trouble the top half of the table, but am less worried about us turning into this season's whipping boys. A good stable appointment with a decent record.

The only area for concern I still have is that the negativity surrounding the club and anger directed at the board won't just go away. Sheridan will really need to try and rise above that and get the fans behind him and his team in spite of their views on the way the club is run if he's to avoid being seen as part of the problem. If he's as bad at that as the Notts fans suggest then unless he can pull a shock promotion challenge out of the bag, he may quickly find himself under the cosh an getting grief from the fans and the local media.

Sheridan and Notts County just didnt fit.

I really think Carlisle fans need to stop focusing on the negatives from County fans.

Put faith in Sheridan and you will do ok...

I'm with HG in the 'he'll do' camp. Plymouth fans had some gripes with him but he's never done especially badly anywhere, so a reasonable choice.
I read this that your board think you may be in a relegation fight, and have got in early. Sheridan is a good, but limited manager. He definitely kept us in the league, but the next year he was not the man to get us out of it. He seemed very limited in his tactical style, and did not appear to know what to do if we went behind. There was also a gripe that he was not in Devon that often. Carlisle is clearly nearer to his Yorkshire home, but I wonder if you will have the same issue. I agree “he’ll do”.

I'm looking forward to see what players he can bring in and how we start off.

Positivity is back yay! :)
He was good at bringing in talent, the issue was did he get the best out of them collectively.

I remember reading that, about him only spending two days out of every week in Plymouth, hopefully Carlisle won't pose such problems though it's not an unfamiliar gripe to us. Hopefully if we can put a few things right over summer then we can avoid being a fight, we have a lot of gaps in the squad to fill and not much money to fill them but at the bottom of the table it's not so much about having the best players, as it is having the hardest working players, most belief and fewest square pegs in round holes. I think we can ensure we have those thing at least but we'll probably still be looking over our shoulders all season.
