Good sending off there of the Sevilla manager. Childish prick.

Typical Liverpool. All the play, on top, look like getting a third, concede. Defence shit, both keepers shit. A great recipe for football. There is no use in being able to score lots of goals if you can't stop the opposition doing the same.

It also fucks me off that through pure stubbornness and an inability to sort things out Klopp sold our best defender.

Karius hasn't done anything wrong tonight, can hardly blame him for the goals. Lovren has been all over the place though yet again.

Sevilla have had 4 shots and scored twice. Our whole defence is shit, including the keepers. We need a clear out, starting with the keepers and Lovren.

Lovren I agree with, just gave the ball needlessly away again. We are going to be an open side though and will concede goals.

Naive performance, but not the worst result in the world. Shame we couldn't start with a win and plenty of questions remain, but up and running. Also the other game ended in a draw so no harm done.

Opportunity wasted in typical Liverpool fashion. This defence shit is getting very, very boring. Fortunately for us, the other two teams also drew so it's as you were.

We were at home though, this is dropped points made all the more annoying by every other English team winning their opening games.

Meh Sevilla would cause any of them problems too, we get a couple of draws against them, win the remainder and get through.

No team that has four shots on goal should cause problems. Any team with a half decent defence would have kept a clean sheet.

We had like 39% possession in the second half up until they scored. We weren't really threatened but you're quite off here imo. We tried to sit back and failed.

I'm still optimistic. This game was a tactical fuckup more than anything which happens to every manager from time to time. Our back line was deeper (I have yet to figure out a reasonable reason why) which in turn resulted in us pressing less, and switching to 4-2-3-1 when Sturridge came off killed every chance we had to actually grab a winner. At times we were incredibly passive in Sevilla's buildup phase, unlike anything I've seen under Klopp so far. We'll beat them away.

Karius showed more poise in this match than Migs has done in his whole career.

The accuracy of Kane's finishing is something else, he always finds the corner of the net in those positions. You just knew where that ball was ending up as he went to strike it.

Exactly my thoughts, he's "clinical" in such positions. His goal and Son's were nearly identical and Dortmund's D# was very weak and Bürki made me cry. A pity that Aubameyang's Goal wasn't given due to offside although he was clear onside. Anyway, Spurs deserved this win. Kudos! First win against a German Team in the 5th try in the last 2 seasons.

Leipzig in the first ever CL match of the club acted very nervous but a 1-1 isn't that bad against the French Champion and last years Semi finalist.

It's not like kids there are born playing football. You can't really expect them to be very good.

What on earth are you talking about?

Really? He missed quite a few good chances in the game. Still scored twice obviously, but he most certainly isn't clinical whenever he has a good chance (no player is).

It was a rather strange game, Spurs were pummeled in the first half but Dortmund collapsed after the third goal. Spurs were the beneficiaries of a few very fortunate decisions. It's still hard to tell who will go through in that group, alongside Madrid, but the performance doesn't suggest Spurs will be a great threat in the latter stages of the competition.

A fully fit Dortmund? Potentially. Keeper looks awful though.

Football there isn't as popular as it is in a country like Brazil or even Scotland.

There's virtually no country on earth where football is as popular as it is in Scotland - Brazil doesn't even come close.

However, a much larger nation will likely have more supporters going to games, more watching on TV, more revenue and more local players to choose from. Despite these enormous advantages Scotland is still doing better than Kazakhstan (and a lot of other large nations like Romania / Bulgaria etc,)

Your obsession with Kazakhstan is very strange - do you think we should all agree that Scotland absolutely should be (much?) better than Kazakhstan both now and for every year going forward - regardless of the clear demographic difference between the two? What are you even arguing?

For most, maybe even all, of the past century Scotland had a stronger league than Belgium. They have overtaken us and I don't think it's likely we will go ahead of them again and why should we? They have more twice the number of people we have.

This is the funniest post I've ever seen on 1FF.

You've said that there's no country on earth where football is as popular as it is in Scotland and then said that Kazakhstan will have "more supporters going to games, more watching on TV, more revenue and more local players to choose from." If football is so massively popular in Scotland, then Kazakhstan don't have that advantage as I'd say Scotland have more football players/fans than Kazakhstan do.

You do realise I meant popularity in the relative sense, rather than the absolute sense?

So, to be clear, even if football is three times more popular in Scotland than it is in Kazakhstan, they will still have more supporters going to games, more watching on TV and more local players to choose from.

Because Kazakhstan is more than three times the size of the Scotland.

Sorry, I thought that was so breathtakingly obvious I wouldn't need to point it out.

Football is far more popular in Scotland than Brazil, I speak with good authority on this. But why is Brazil better? Why do they have higher absolute attendances? Having more than 40 times the number of people helps.

If, for example, a country was five times the size of another one, but football was 20% as popular, would you still expect the larger country to be 5 times better?
