All it took was a quick search to see that that's not true as I was sure it was nearer 3000 (2972 to be exact). As we'd sell it without question I don't think it's beyond the pale to suggest we could get the extra 172 tickets considering your home attendances of late.

EDIT: Haven't you closed an entire tier of a stand also due to reduced attendences? Again surely it would only be a benefit for you to open that up if you haven't got room to give us an extra 172 tickets?
ok give or take 200, but I'm assuming Newcastle want not a couple of hundred more, but 2k more? Nowt wrong with our home crowds, especially so far in this league, but yes we closed the upper tier of the trinity to save costs and also because we weren't selling enough seats in the ground to justify keeping it open. Still don't see how that entitles Newcastle to more seats, Infact you tried last season as well but we turned you down again. We ain't no Micky mouse club who will give away teams whatever they want just to fill our ground up.

so next time you play Sheffield Wednesday you will be happy to allocate them more than the usual allocation?

We will sell out. I'm not saying you should allocate more but you could do if needs be. You will sell out 1 match and that's not guaranteed

what benefit would that bring us? Villa park is bad enough let alone making it worse by having more away fans. With our current form yeah we would only sell out against blues but I'm hoping form improves and then crowds will. If we were in newcastles form we would probably have to open the upper tier which is closed at the minute. Personally I'm surprised we didn't make our away allocation bigger for this league but we never so it's tough shit for Newcastle.

Like I said I'm not saying you should give more tickets. I was referring to Walkley saying fuck em to Newcastle but they actually can't give more.

I completely get where you're coming from and I know when teams have given large away allocations, it has a negative effect.

No ones saying you're a Mickey Mouse Club but having 10,000+ empty seats in the home end and not giving the away Club an extra 200 tickets so that the standard away limit is reached just looks petty.

I can't remember who it was, Bristol City maybe, but when we asked for extra tickets they gave us an extra 40 or so. I presume that can only have been down to reaching that average away allocation or reducing segregation but it can be done.

My point throughout is just that it's hardly asking too much for a few more tickets and your 'why should we?' Is a bit daft.

The reason we're allocating 2,500 is because there are some home fans in the Atyeo (the away end). Our first three games this season have sold out at home but it's a reduced capacity, 17,500 against Wigan and then roughly 22,000 against you and Villa. Next season I hope we allocate the full 4,000 in the Atyeo (not that you'll be down here) because there will be 23,000 seats going in the home end which will be more than enough.

My bad. I thought you were on about wanting an extra 1 or 2k. Yeah it does seem petty but there might be a valid reason for it. For some reason this season they have not allocated away fans that small block of seats on the bottom tier in the corner. For your visit there will be a decent crowd, especially if we win on Saturday. But then again I think some of our lot are on a downer already.

It's a shame you're not allocating more, most of our fans won't have been to Villa Park so we'd have sold any number you gave us. There's this argument between our fans this season, I'd be allocating the full 4k to away sides if they can sell it, so yourselves, Newcastle, Wolves etc, but then we're allocating more than we legally have to, which gives a slight disadvantage to us being the home side, so I can understand why you and Newcastle are doing it.

Edit: anyway, how can Newcastle get away with only allocating 3k? I thought it had to be 10%!

I see your point because let's face it we rarely sell out,but im assuming it's not wanting to give teams more of an advantage, and with our home record for the last how many years it's a wise decision. Thing with Newcastle it's such a long way to travel for most that 3200 is normally plenty for away fans.

It's like Leeds in the prem, you could have 5k if you wanted it but now it's 3 max and they rarely hit 30k let alone sell out. But they have fans behind both ends now and it maybe benefits them... Or maybe not.

10 % or 3k depending on size of ground. So those with grounds with 30k plus have to give 3k. Those were prem rules anyway. Those with grounds less than 30k give 10% don't know if these rules apply below prem

Always used to think this was the case, but can't be, you yourselves only used to give 2k in a 30k stadium and Forest still do. Could understand you doing it in PL when the rest of the ground was full, but can't understand why Forest and Villa don't give more when away teams want it, when there are loads of empty spaces in the ground. We sometimes do it, but we don't really have anywhere to put away fans with adequate segregation. (Especially in the eyes of the idiots at SYP). Plus we normally give a generous away allocation anyway.

Tbf if you lot won't hand it out then fair do's.

Hearing we have 3.2K for Boxing Day but on principle we are giving you 2K in April.
Can't see this being right, unless they are expecting us to sell out and opening up bottom to us. (like Brighton P/o game). Would like us to do this more often, but there is not usually enough interest from home supporters.

It's near the end of the season, if we are up there we will sell out.

I worked on turnstiles in North Stand Leppings lane corner. As you say they were in fancy dress and high spirits (aka pissed). Warned them what to expect on way in, some laughed. They weren't laughing 10 mins later as they were being escorted out by the coppers covered in blood. I quite like Geordies but if your that naive, you get what you deserve. Like the Palace tits who celebrated on the pitch after sending us down. Before anyone starts Im not condoning it, just saying, what do you expect?

I thought you Wednesday lot were a friendly bunch. Geordies are good at one thing, and that's getting pissed.

No no far from it and can see why you were slightly defensive as I wouldn't expect that in a million years.

Like I say simply being, just the extra 200 tickets is what was asked for and were turned down for them. It was just meant as s light hearted dig at first so apologies that that escalated over the course of 2 pages ha!

Anyway, in other news and not away tickets related, but we're down to the last 100 tickets for Wolves tomorrow. Presume they'll go with walk ups.

We always gave a 3k in the prem and 3k to you lot in the championship not sure where you got 2k from. Those rules definitely apply in the premiership within 100 or so anyway. They may not apply below

They don't, as we used to give the same in the PL as we do now (around 2700), I believe you're thinking about the FA Cup where you do have to allocate 10% if your ground is over 30k, so for that, you would get 4200 at Villa Park (probably around 3700 this season due to reduced capacity.)

For a start it's over 2800 so like I said 3k or within a 100 or so depending on the segregation at each ground

We are reducing home end tickets only to £15 for adults and £10 for concessions for our televised game with Forest on the 25th November. Forest fans will still have to pay the full Category B prices (£28 pre match-day and £30 on the gate for adults).

Seems a bit of a dick move on the face of it. However it was made clear before the season started that our ticket prices would reflect what the away club were intending to charge our fans, so I assume an agreement could not be made with Forest to arrange cheap tickets for the return fixture at the City Ground.
