They're a strange bunch. If they have more than 200 at Ashton Gate they're usually very noisy. Had them on the opening day a few years back, they beat us 3-0 and most of the seats in the away end got fucking demolished.

they have a lot of ticket restrictions I think.

when the locals are up for it yes, very hostile. When in full voice it can be a very edgy place. Fergie said it was the most hostile ground he's ever been to, and most places United went home or abroad they got it in the ear.

Obviously alot more hostile when Villa are there. Anywhere can be hostile on any given day. Not done the New Den, but the old den was a bit tasty. We scored to go 4 3 up with 2 minutes left, in my joy I forgot where I was and climbed up segregating fence. Was quite relieved to see them equalise in injury time. Was on a double decker bus, that couldn't fit under that old bridge to the coach park, an interesting and very quiet walk to our coach, was glad to be on it and away. Oh to be youthful and carefree (ok stupid) again.

good old days eh. I include myself in this, but us younger lot missed out a bit .

If we're talking the good old days and scary places to go I always thought Boro when they were at Ayrsome Park was a nervous day out, that was a grim place. Then there were the usual suspects of Elland Road, The Old Den, Upton Park and Maine Road certainly had an aura about it. For us Leicester at Filbert Street was always one to make sure you had your wits about you. To be fair the more I think about it there weren't many away days in the early 80's when you weren't constantly watching your back. In those days every crowd was just full of young wannabes and the old school.

It wasn't the best all round was it. I thought Villa were quiet for the most part, as were we till the equaliser. You could sense the feeling of trepidation which affected the atmosphere to a degree although I absolutely cannot stand these early kick-offs, I'm always hungover from the night before.


An empty section by where the segregation line is, I'm not sure why that was. I know Villa officially sold out their allocation.

Our Twitter gave it as 25,696, looked more than that to me (1k blocked off above the Villa end, 1k in segregation, and around 50 in the family area).

Pretty sure they will of sold the 4k straight away. Walkley says they've got initial 2.7k up to 4k so just wondered why geordies didn't, maybe Fulham thought they'd sell them who knows
