I've been trying to keep check, but have got so many gaps this season, due to a number of clubs being secretive, and a shortage of posters being prepared to post any figures that they know about (too busy arguing).
Strange, as in previous seasons there have been very very few gaps.

Crackers isn't it, I've had a year off cos it's a bit of work and underappreciated by some on here.

Aside: Just seen this on EFL site - may have been posted already but cant be arsed checking back...

Average away support this season:

1 Leeds United 3215 #LUFC
2 Aston Villa 2847 #AVFC
3 Sheffield Wednesday 2372 #SWFC
4 Sheffield United 2305 #SUFC
5 Nottingham Forest 2137 #NFFC
6 Birmingham City 1954 #BCFC
7 Norwich City 1930 #NCFC
8 Derby County 1916 #DCFC

Shock! Those who have the lesser distance to travel have the higher followings! (Bar Norwich of course)

20 seasons outside the top flight and still averaging over 2k away from home, only got the data back to 03/04 for us but think our lowest average was just 1,800 in 2010/11, the first three seasons 00-03 still averaged above 2k given we had big allocations at Utd, Barnsley, Stockport, Forest etc

Sure I saw somewhere that for all play-off games, the home side are entitled to allocate only 2,000 away tickets. Bit of a shithouse tactic when you usually allocate more for a normal league fixture but let’s be honest, it’s crunch time now, take any advantage you can.

The Geordies travel more miles than most. Big club, big support, and one of the best away supports.

We did it to Brighton back in 2016, they did struggle to sell them anyway but it was only cos we had been told they would be doing that to us.

That’s fair enough.

Backfired on Sunderland a bit this year, gave Pompey 2k and have barely reached 25k tickets themselves. Pompey respond in kind but have banged Fratton Park out.

Easier to sell out 20k than 40k though

Shite from Sunderland that. They do have a tendency to have poor crowds for big games when season ticket holders have to purchase tickets along with non season ticket holders. Cheap tickets at Sunderland too.

Wrong division mate, you want the League One thread now.

Christ :fl:

The clubs with the bigger fanbases and better away support have the higher followings.

I’m not disputing the likes of Leeds, Villa and Wednesday. It’s the likes of Derby, Sheffield Utd and Forest. I’m fairly certain we take more to those than they bring to us in a normal season.

Shorter distances, bigger away ends means more can go and easier for them to for the midlands/Yorkshire clubs. You can’t deny it.

Not sold a cup game out, including the league Cup semi v Man U, for 20 odd years according to their forum.

Not got any records so I can’t really answer. Both you and Norwich travel well regardless considering distance.

Yep

That united crowd was only 30k I think, and 5-6k of them were united. Plus they would have been a few United in the home end.

Thing is though for Ipswich it's usually cheaper for their fans away than the other which is a factor for some, that said if you're stumping up to go to or from Ipswich for a game a couple of quid on the tickets shouldn't be much of sway.

You do, but it's the norm for you having to travel quite far, always had good away support though, so have Norwich.

You can’t help how far you have to travel . Newcastle fans travelling to villa won’t think nothing of it. Villa travelling up there is a more daunting trip because we are not used to it. It is what it is.

Proper, and they’ve only just been up there.

I said in the L1 forum I didn’t want Sunderland if they finished 5th. Sunderland half marathon and rugby in Newcastle meant you couldn’t find a hotel for love nor money that Saturday night and was looking at 100ish quid for trains.

Easier to sell out 20k than 40k though

Agree but they’ve have had bigger crowds for league games and now they’ve only got 2k fans at Portsmouth when they could have had more.

Yes I know they are and it's still no where near full, they were selling out every league game instantly.

Mate if you think demand isn't there then you clearly have a different agenda. Capacity isn't enough for demand.
