Can't argue with the neutrals opinion - and respect to them for sticking by it, but I, along with many other fellow Reds believe that we're currently a bigger club than Coventry.

My opinion, as always, and it's shared by many others.

Yes and Inageee with that. But at the start you said you were bigger over time. Are you going back on your words now you've been found out?

I think Bristol City fans are getting the fact they're more successful confused with being bigger, you're not a big club like Coventry City are.

Burton Albion are smaller than Bristol City and Coventry City and probably ever other club in league 1.
However we will be playing on a level playing field with Coventry City this season.

Agreed and I look forward to my visit to Burton.

Do you know a young lad called Marcus Harness? He's my sons mate. Good player.

I didn't say 'over time' - we're currently a bigger club than Coventry City, and that's my point.

Also - people base 'big clubs' on many things, the way I see it, History plays a part, but it isn't the only deciding factor.

You have to take into account, as I have already said, other examples, such as - fanbase, catchment area, potential, current standings, etc etc.

I'm bored of repeating the same things - question me something else, we covered this 5 pages ago for fuck sake.

And I find this incredibly rich you trying to accuse someone of 'going back on their words' - that's made my day.

Are they? 6th place for Liverpool and no league title for about 25 years now.

Interesting question, would you say Man City are bigger than Liverpool? Man City have the most recent success, a great academy and the cash to back it up.

It's like if Tyson was to fight David Haye now. Yeah Tyson might have been the bigger name and better fighter, but Haye was more recently world champion due to a lack of top level competition. Haye would probably win between the two, but I'd never believe that with both in the prime that they were in the same league.

As an aside, we took 50,000 to the new Wembley for league one playoffs. We've also spent most the last 5 years above both of them in the league table and have played in Europe, the FA cup final and 2 semis in that time. None of that makes us a bigger club than either Cov or City.

Bristol City are clearer in a better position atm. I have no trouble admitting that
Fair enough, to be honest I think I agree most with what SkyBlueElephant said earlier, most of history between the clubs Coventry easily were bigger, then for maybe 10 years or so it was pretty balanced, but for the last 5-6 we have been slightly bigger.

You've done your fair share of attempting to wind up over the last few hours - and I'm sure you won't beat yourself up over it.

Coventry are, and always have been a bigger club than Bristol City.

Bristol City have just been the better side over the last few years. The L1 title and success in the JPT doesn't change that. Not by a long stretch.

Agree with that - and I think most of what SkyBlueElephant was saying in earlier pages was spot on to be honest, and I'll stand by that opinion of the point you made there.

How would potential make a club big? If they ain't fulfilled that potential they'll be a small club until they fulfil it. Leamington has a large population but no one would describe them as big because they've never done anything - bit like Bristol City in a sense.

The potential we have to be.

Coventry are getting 7k a fucking week, but have proved in the past that if they do well, they sell out the Ricoh, as you previously referred to.

That is POTENTIAL - you ain't going to fill it out playing shite football down the bottom of L1, but should you be in the Premier League, I'd fully expect you to.

Isn't Milwall motto 'the most talked about small club'? I'd agree with that. Everyone hates Milwall

But that still wouldn't make a club big. Most clubs would sell out in the premier league against the biggest clubs in the world with the best players. They'd gain fans who previously supported bigger teams. That isn't potential, that's fickle support IMO

Marcus has come through the Albion youth academy and has signed a professional contract prior to the start of last season I believe. He has played a fair few games under Gary Rowett but I'm not sure he started under JFH. I would have thought he got enough appearances in to get a league 1 championship medal. He's a skilful lad and well thought of, once he has built himself up a bit he's going to be a useful lad.

Yep hopefully for him it works out.

Our support is shit, I've said it a number of times. If support was the only deciding factor we'd be fooked.

A year or 2 out of date, but this has data for ranking teams that have played in the top flight, Coventry do far better

http://www.theguardian.com/football/datablog/2013/apr/17/football-league-125-years

2 years out of date, but even considering the last 2 seasons Coventry are the bigger club, although the gap will be much smaller

That puts to bed the argument of Bristol City being 'a club that float between L1 and L2..'

That list is a load of bollocks. Both clubs should be higher when you see the teams in front of us

Was going to argue the same - it means nothing, the fact that teams like Oldham, Wigan etc are above us on that list just makes a mockery of it to be honest.

Tbh without knowing the scoring system used for the points any list as such could be argued as bollocks, but it is the closest you will find to a definitive answer. For one that isn't bollocks you'd need a system that takes into account all competitions the clubs participated in, agreed weighting for each one, etc.

Even a table using average points per league game played wouldn't be totally fair as it wouldn't represent the cup competitions

Happy to be the smallest club in this poll..(now Crawley have gone) we are tinpot and I'm sure we will be reminded every week next season

Now, I'f it was a league table on profitability and been well run..then a different story!
Oh and best training facilities

Oi, you c***, we're founder members of the Premier League. We're fucking massive.

But seriously, I can't agree with your logic at all here, and it seems rather contradictive:

Since the 10/11 season Brighton have spent 4 of the 5 seasons in the Championship - 3 of which were top 10 finishes and the 1 season in L1 they won the league. In that same period, Sheff Utd have spent 4 of the 5 seasons in L1 and won nothing. Brighton also have a better average attendance over the majority of that period.

Are Brighton bigger than Sheff Utd? No.

Same period again, Bristol City have spent 3 of those 5 seasons in the Championship and 2 in L1. For Coventry, it's the other way around. You've won L1 and the JPT during that time.

Does that make Bristol City bigger than Coventry? Again, no.

Keith Hill said before we played them the first time last season that 'It's the PL equivalent of Burnley vs Manchester United' and they absolutely played us off the park twice.
