We've signed 20 year old striker Alfie Pavey on a 28 day loan from Millwall. If he's anything like our last Millwall loanee, he'll be decent.

According to him there were a number of conference sides trying to sign him, also it seems the fact that O'Brien did so well with us was a factor in him coming here. Hopefully Barry Smith starts him tomorrow!

We've signed 18 year old CB Cian Harries from Coventry for an initial month. Highly rated at Cov, and gives us much needed cover in defence,
Only seen him play a few times but he looks great. Good on the ball and in the air, will go far.

I agree. Very rare academy players get 3 year contracts first year of being a pro, usually it's only a year.

Zaine Francis Angol has signed an 18 month contract. Quite surprised it's that long he must be happy playing Conference North football next season.

Congratulations on signing the worst player I've seen in a Barnet shirt over the past decade.

Looks promising. Will almost certainly start at Oxford in the Trophy and we could well switch to 3-5-2 as we did earlier in the season due to our current lack of fit full-backs.

Didn't he score 5 minutes into his debut?

Oh yeah, forgot about. Been downhill ever since for him!

Oh fantastic so you are taking the awful Odejayi back

Margetts has been decent for us but no more than that, he drifts out of games far too easily for my liking. It would be a blow to lose him as he can actually score goals something the rest of our squad can't do.

Wouldn't be surprised if we did! To be fair, he'd be an improvement on Nathan Blissett.

Good business from us, made a little money and not lost any of our best players in this window.

We will be able to name enough subs now!

Not that he got much of a chance here, but he didn't pull up any trees or seem to be involved in anything.

The only fans that seem to half rate him are Southport.

I wouldn't go that far. He didn't pull up any trees here, looked ok as a substitute only. At the time some thought that he didn't fit our system / style of play, but further stints elsewhere suggest otherwise.

Quite happy with that. He's been fairly solid for us, particularly since being moved to left back.

Well we haven't got a style of play so I won't be able to judge him on that

Will you not be moving to part-time when you get relegated then?
Nope, not saying I agree with it, but the club have said we're staying full time. They're looking to turn us into a Crewe-type academy for the Midlands, producing young players to sell on to bigger teams. They've said they couldn't do this with only training with the players a couple of evenings per week.

The idea behind this being to became completely self-sufficient and not pouring money down the drain like we have in recent years. It's been revealed that in 2013-14, our budget was not far off £1 million and has now been slashed to around £200k by our new board. I think it's admirable in theory, but in practice who know's how it's going to work out.

Basically what Stalybridge tried and failed with though perhaps they didn't have as much finance, perhaps it's worth a go as that is probably a mid table budget in the Conference North.

We aren't losing anyone else, all first team players tied up until the end of the season.

And Dennis is going nowhere!

Yep I unfortunately agree though I notice you have added a striker from Wigan on loan so you now have 4 which will no doubt set the rumour mill going regarding Dennis.

If Dennis does leave then I'm guessing a club would have to agree a fee with both clubs - it's mental situation.
I doubt Dennis will leave but there's still 3 weeks for others to go. We're still in a situation where it would be tough to turn down cash offers for anyone.

Especially an offer for a player you don't even own but I agree I really don't see it happening.

The only way I see Dennis actually leaving us in Jan is if you give us a fairly decent chunk of any fee to rip up the loan contract, would take a fair whack to do that. Wouldn't all surprise me if you do sell him though, but the agreement to stay with us til season end is kept in place as part of any deal.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and is too old for us to be entitled to compensation so there is no way that will happen. If we gave you the whole fee we would still be better off than we are now as at least we wouldn't be paying a percentage of his wage.

He seems pretty confident in his interview

http://www.theshots.co.uk/shots-tv/alfie-pavey-welcome/

If he could put the 2 or 3 in the net as promised tomorrow that would be very much appreciated!

He looked hideously out of his depth in the handful of games he played for us last season. Badly lacking technically, really slow, no idea how to head the ball etc.

His performance at home to Kiddy - we were 3-0 up and cruising and then he came on up front, looked and played like some guy we had found in the pub, had no idea how to hold the ball up and nothing stuck when we played the ball forward to him, ended up 3-3. It remains the single worst performance I've seen from one of our players, almost an exercise in footballing ineptitude.

In another of his games a great cross was played to him, but he was so lacking in any heading ability that he tried to kick it and ended up booting the ball into his own face.

I'm just warning you, he is bad. Like seriously seriously rank bad. Not many players leave such a strong impression after only a few games but he is still talked about on our forum as the epitome of badness. In fact he was so bad that he continues to have an effect on MA to this day - he's really reluctant to make use of our young players now when we're winning and that all stems from the Pavey debacle.

Pavey will do ok if you are after a tall, awkward striker in the box. He was poor for us and didn't show a great deal of ability, the impression I got was he had done well at youth level because of his size. He is young so hopefully has improved

Oh right, I guess I better hope he came to you a year to early and he is better - we need all the goals we can get so I'll cross everything I can that he puts one or two in the net.
