Jamie Reid also joining from Exeter until the end of the season. Suggests to me it's all over for Benyon and Yeoman here.

Yep. Never heard of him, but scored one goal for Oxford in one start and two sub appearances. Hit 24 in 19 for Jarrow Roofing between August-November last year.

Can't be any more frustrating than Bowman.
Was part of the Darlington trophy winning team of 2011 before falling out with the management and fans.

Sent off on his debut for us against Chester whilst on loan. Never played for us again.

Probably the least surprising departure ever, it was clear that he would never feature in the manager's plans, has apparently gone to New Zealand. Of all the signings we have made in recent years his was the one that made me think that we might become something other than an also ran in the division, he had been a quality player for his previous clubs, sadly he never really lived up to his billing.

We have signed Rochdale defender Sean McGinty on a month's loan. Probably because Oastler may be out for longer than expected.

Not sure if he's a centre back or a left-back.

Audel has signed for us. For the first time this season we actually have two centre backs who are 'own'.

Excellent signing. Just what we need.

Young Alex Grant will no doubt make way but he's been top draw whilst we look for the more experienced and stronger replacement for Waterfall/Hogan. Grant has learnt so much from Pilkington already, and will learn a completely different side to his game from Audel.

Agreed, Grant has been excellent has improved greatly so far and has been a vital factor in where we are. However, he did struggle against Brodie last week and as JA said can be out-muscled a bit; therefore would expect a Audel/Pilks partnership as first choice.

Absolutely brilliant signing, exactly what the team needs, cracking player and could be the difference between going up or not.

How is a CB going to be the difference given that you've already got one of the best defensive records in the division?

If anything, you need to score more and Audel definitely isn't going to give you that!

Because we have 2 CB's, any injuries or suspensions would have put us in a very difficult situation.

We can now have a sub defender on the bench for starters!!
Also we've struggled with shall we say "more direct" styles of play in recent weeks, and whilst Grant is a good young defender, especially in one on one situations, he's struggled with the more physical side of hoof ball in last few games. Audel will go a long way to solving that, and he's a decent target man from set pieces too.

I agree though, we do need to score a few more so hopefully there's a little bit of budget available to add another forward to the ranks. I'd be surprised if we can afford it but that would be the final piece in what is a pretty small jigsaw of a squad.

I'd start planning the open top boss parade guys, cracking signing.
He got 3 goals as well last season for us while on loan.
I suppose the only worry with him will be his fitness as he looked proper rusty when he came back here earlier in the season.

Seems like we have signed a second left-back.

Fulham youngster Tom Richards joins on loan. 10 apps for AFC Wimbledon last season.

Thank goodness.

Stokesy is a great player but he obviously never featured in the manager's plans. Easily the best left-sided defender we have had in recent years. The one chance he had recently he started the game on the right of midfield, until the midfielder playing in his preferred position was injured and he moved back to defence...go figure!

Good enough to make the step up?

I might be biased but I would have to say that he is. He has been a bit unfortunate with injuries but left footed, left sided defenders are hardly ten a penny. It appears that he has been lured to Coventry by Dave Hockaday, who had brought him to Rovers in the first place, a coach under whom he certainly improved as a player. If Hockaday can work his magic a second time then I see no reason why he shouldn't make a good go of it with Coventry.

He wasn't sent off IIRC (that was Wilson)

He was just one of the worst footballers I've ever seen, and that's including those we had in the Unibond days

Just said that it would be his final season with us, no mention of retiring. Last season there were pretty strong rumours he was going to retire but decided to sign for another year in the end.

It was great to see him come back to the club where his career began and then to play a massive part in our success in the last couple of years. Such a shame that he suffered a bad injury, for the first time in his career, this season. It would be fitting, if by some miracle, that his final game for the club is at Wembley.

That is the one regret he'll have, and it breaks my heart.
