Gowling and Nsiala have been starting in the league. We've only conceded two league goals since mid-November or something daft which is why Pearson's not been getting a look in. He's been starting all the FA Trophy games but we've conceded a few in those, mainly down to squad rotation and trying out new (less effective) formations against lower ranked opponents.

I'd be very surprised if we'd blown our wage structure on signing Gowling. In any case he's been a very good signing for us and has been excellent for the last couple of months.

I dont know what your wage structure is, but he would certainly have been amongst our top earners and we don't seem to like paying much for defenders? When in truth, its what will cost us a play off spot.

Yes the best CH pairing in the league IMHO. Nsiala is a beast, but Gowling wins every header and is very good at reading the game with a good positional sense, something we dont really have in our central defence right now. Surely you wouldnt expect Pearson to just sit on the bench for another season and a half (to fulfill his contract)

Pearson loves the club. He's expecting a child and he has his girlfriend who's from Grimsby. I suspect he's pretty settled here and knows he'll get his chance. Not only do we have the best CB pairing at the minute, but we have the 3 best CBs in the league.

Also he made my wife a nice bit of commission when he bought his missus an expensive engagement ring just before Christmas so i don't want him going anywhere, he might shop there again lol!

Moneybags Barrow stealing our Physio :cool1:

In other news today, the club have signed winger Michael Donohue on a one month loan deal from Everton.
and we only loaned you the Physio - he was with us for 4 years until we went full time in the summer ;)

Hold on have I missed something, when did you sign Tony Diagne?

Don't think Fairhurst to Halifax has been mentioned? Didn't realise that one had happened.

Tubbs wasn't that great tonight probably needs the game time to get back to how he was.

Ab$olut£ Jok€. Really hope for the sake of integrity, moneybag clubs like Eastleigh and Forest Green stay in the conference this season.

Also his 93 day loan will expire 3 days before the playoff final. Will the league block any attempt to extend it should Eastleigh reach the final? I very much doubt it.

Is it possible to extend a loan in this way? Brabin made a thing about Rovers delaying any loan signing to ensure they'd be able to feature throughout the play-offs.
Of course we've got to get there first :pond:

To be fair, isn't that what we did with Ollie Palmer last season?

I remember referring to this before, but it must be frustrating as an Eastleigh fan for these defensive frailties to have still not been amended. Especially since you're now under new management. Is part of the job spec at Ten Acres to neglect the defence or something?! Cost you a better chance of a place in the final last year and as you allude to, could cost you more this season.

Yes it is a strange one that we don't address the defence, especially with the new manager being an ex-center half!
From what i have been told in the past, we dont want to pay the kind of wages we would need to pay for a top CH, we tend to keep that kind of money for our strikers & star midfielders. That said, when you look at our defenders individually, they are all decent, but we are now conceding 3 goals per game and that only means losing football matches i'm afraid, so it really does need to be addressed. The owner is spending a lot of money on the club in general, but maybe needs to focus on 1 or 2 key areas and pay the going rate for a Gowling/Pearson type of defender.

Michael Higdon signed for Tranmere. Passed medical yesterday and signed today expected to go straight into team against Aldershot tomorrow.

Released by Sheffield Utd last week, had offers from FL and abroad but didn't want to relocate. In terms of wages received a decent payoff from Sheffield Utd so just needed to play regular football.

Delighted with this. SPL player of the year 2011/12.

Announcement due soon.

Be interesting to see how Gary Brabin accommodates Higdon in his team selections, will he stick with the current 4-5-1 system which is grinding out results and who will he drop.

For the away games, I'd hope Brabin sticks with the 451,though there is an argument we should be more expansive at home and play two up front.

One of a collection of 'worst signings' we've made recently...but he did do reasonably ok at Oldham earlier on this season so should be a great signing for you.

We've signed Ben Tomlinson on loan. Never been overly impressed, but probably better than most of our forward options.

Also heard that we didn't sign Hearn in January because Lincoln wanted a £10k loan fee.

He's already played for two Clubs this season? How've you managed that.

Did well for us under Simpson but not happened for him anywhere else.

They count as emergency loans and currently don't fall within the rules about the number of clubs you can play for in a season, although FIFA are trying to close that loophole.

Not surprised to see him go out again. We had no fit strikers and we still didn't use him.

Who are Barrow going to go after next, Darren Huckerby? Delroy Facey? Colin Alcide?

Who will we go for next.... hmmm...
Grant Holt in the summer - has been at several Barrow games this season.
he's played for the club before and is from Cumbria.
Glenn Murray the season after - same reasons (apart from not been to the matches as has been playing)

but seriously - could be anyone - we picked up Jordan Williams from Northwich through scouting and he's looking a very good player
and now we've got someone scouting all the time

I liked the look of him while he was here, didn't manage to get a goal but never stoped running and always put a shift in and never lets defenders have an easy ride.

Ben Tomlinson had a disappointing time with Rovers, although he was mainly played out wide rather than as a forward, his preferred position.
