Signed Danny O'Brien on loan from Wigan.

Was at Wrexham earlier in the season.

Barely featured for us when he was here but in the brief times he did play he looked like be could be decent. Mills wanted to keep him but he was recalled by Wigan.

Hardly a "charge for the title" signing, but I'll reserve judgement until i've seen him play a few times.
We're not really making any of them and on face value it's very very disappointing, especially having given them 100k to make some big signings.

True, but half of that roughly went on Bogle's transfer fee, and Jon Nolan who didn't exactly set pulses racing when he signed on this forum, is playing great at the minute.
Sometimes you don't always need to sign a big name for them to make a really good impact. Look at Ollie Palmer last year for example.

Wasn't Bogles fee between 15 & 30k and something we were considering paying regardless? We were also told we had an increased budget regardless of the money.

The Nolan thing is making me laugh at the minute but The Fishy will be up in arms if I posted it. He was by all accounts shite at Gateshead and good against Havant and Bromley. People say 'I'll give him time' then proceed to shout off the rooftops about how right they are after 3 games. It's a bit daft really and pretty hypocritical from all parties. I'm glad he's had a good game in the league and hopefully keeps that up.

For every Palmer there's been many many more examples of poor post January signings and I still think we're quite a long way off a title winning side yet.

Goalkeeper and couldn't really say, he only featured in the Cheshire Cup for us and seemingly had little to do in those games.

We've signed former loanee Steven Hewitt. I guess Chester have bombed him off already then? He did alright for us first time around.

Made two appearances, one of them as a sub and then never seen again.

Ahh somebody told me at the time that Bogle was 50k so i just presumed that was correct, it may have been 15 - 30k then as you say.
True what you say about some signings, Christian Jolley springs to mind, but i would say on the whole Hurst's recruitment has been pretty good in his time here. Trying to get Dom Vose shows the quality of player that he is trying to get in, i remember the telegraph raving about him after we had scraped a 0 - 0 there saying he was far and away the best player on the pitch so trying to get him shows what Hurst is trying to do, but unfortunately not quite managing it.
With Nolan i said at the time he needed to be given a chance to see what he can do rather than be given up on before kicking a ball, and i know it is only 3 games but definately an encouraging start so far from him.

We've signed Anthony Straker, a left back who we're calling a midfielder.

He played both for us and was decent - won the conference with us and then played in the football league for 3-4 years and was reasonably solid although he sometimes got caught out of position at left back.

Weve signed Nathan Ralph from Newport until the end of the season

I would post this on the South thread but Marvin Morgan has returned to the Stones on loan from Havant for the rest of the season. Always worked his socks off when he started his career with us, I just hope that work ethic is still there.

We have signed some lad called Goldy Cabela from East Grinstead or something. :bdick:

I presumed he had been banging them in, but having researched I found he's scored two goals for them.

From my post in the transfer rumours thread:

He's a decent little player, definitely not afraid of a tackle and good on the ball.

A bit naive, but that's to be expected from a young lad.

Brilliant day for us, Ben Whitfield signs for the rest of the season and Ousmane Fane and Elton Ngwatala have extended their contracts until next season :2thumb::2thumb::sb:

Club is starting to look towards stability once and for all! Absolutely delighted, Fane is so much better than this level already. A gem of a find, i'd love to know how Gordon looked at a player who was based in Scandinavia.

Dave Hockaday according to the article on the clubs website. And I spoke to Kevin Phillips on Saturday who said he was on trial at FGR when they were there but he got injured. Then the called him up for a trial and he signed for us after it being successful.

.

To be fair the entire team were crap in the first half at Gateshead, Nolan looked like the only player who had anything about him in the second half.

We've signed defender Courtney Wildin on loan from Sheffield Wednesday for a month.

He's just completed a loan spell at Gainsborough Trinity. I'm assuming it'll be cover in a full back position i.e. keeping Bush away from there if there's an injury and also a look ahead to next season.

I've heard that Wrexham have signed Ryan O'Reilly from Stoke. Was on loan here and looked like he will be a good player in the future, but maybe lacked a bit of experience or confidence - a good physical presence though.

We're signing a player called Danny Rowe (I think from Wycombe), which is remarkably the third Danny Rowe we've had in three years!
