We get similar gates do we not? If you can afford him then why should we not be able to? Could well be paying a percentage of the wage too.

Im sure we have one of the highest budgets of the league, we also have easily the biggest attendances, it's hardly a big deal.

I don't think our budget is as big as people say. Pretty impossible with the money we've lost from relegated and the stadium which is over a million in total

Sounds like a great signing for Rovers, as others have said not cheap. If you're going to throw money at it, now is a good time! (Sitting in 1st place, with a real battle on for the rest of the season, even if it is technically out of their hands for now). I can only presume he's on 100% from Rovers, otherwise Vale would probably rather keep him as backup, looking at the fact he's played 31 times for them this season (according to BBC anyway).

For Rovers fans who are denying a £1m+ budget - that would be 20 players on ~£1,000 each (done on a 50 week payment for ease of numbers, with 20 players as a small squad. Reasonably large squad of 25 would have average pay of £800/week).

I'd imagine we have just over £1m now. We had a squad of 23/24 with 4 first year pros who have all been out on loan for the majority of the year.

Some of those players (eight/nine, i think) were on L2 wages, presumably well high paid ones too. The rest are all signings from non league really, we weren't really signing big splashy players during the summer. DC left room in the budget to bring in during the season and we've signed Balanta, Easter and Lines, who i'd assume are on a decent wedge.

All guess work I know, but I'd guess over 1m. But that's a sizeable cut in the stupid 3.5 million of last year

Because they got a couple of million quid more for being in League 1...

Not saying you can't afford him but some of the claims like "we're not near the top of this league in terms of budget" is laughable.

Accept you've spent big and the pressure that comes with it :)

I concur that we may now be second place in terms of budget. It's fair to say Easter and Lines won't be cheap, so the money DC kept to one side out of his summer budget is now definitely being used (plus a little more, I'd guess).

I still don't think we're the highest payers, though, as I have heard from someone who is usually quite well informed that a certain club in this division are paying one of their players near enough £5k per week. That is an awful lot more than any one of our players will be earning; even if we are paying all of Lines' wages from Port Vale, he is on around half of that salary. Madness, really.

There's no denying we have spent a fair bit to try and push ourselves over the line, but I don't blame the club for that. We are in a great position and have a chance of bouncing back at the first attempt, so if we have a bit more money to spend why not use it? People may say a pressure comes with that but we've coped with it pretty well so far and I hope we continue to do so.

Has to be an Eastleigh or FGR player don't think any other team down here would think about offering near that amount apart from those

Probably Constable. Don't think a FGR player could warrent that much. Maybe Parkin.

Agreed - Constable had L1 interest, will have been a king's ransom to tempt him away from that. Struggle to believe £5K though.

FGR paid Andy Mangan upwards of 3K so nothing would surprise me to be honest.

If anyone's paying a player £5k/week, they need to be named and shamed along with the player in question being made to wear a stripy black and white jumper for the duration of his contract.

I expect that the wages Ebbsfleet are paying some of their players are quite ridiculous (Cunnington and Kedwell in particular must be on healthy figures) but £5k is insane.

...or shirt if he is a Rovers player.

Seriously though, that is ridiculous money for the Conference, a quarter of a million quid for a year...no player in this league is worth anything like that.

Seems we have lost some of yesterdays posts. Eddie Oshodi has returned to football and has signed for Hemel Hempstead Town

Great news for Wrexham, Need to build a decent side around him now. Keeping hold of Manny Smith, Carrington and Jennings would help

We've already got Carrington signed up. Would be amazed if Smith signed, he's League One quality. Jennings I am 50-50 about, would like to keep him but not too fussed if he leaves.
