What type of player is he? He's a bigger name than I was expecting. Blissett, Williams and Harrad should give us some options.
Needs to be played down the middle. Pennock played him mainly off the bench, sometime out wide and sometimes down the middle but he never seemed happy under his management. The difference in his demeanour once Scotty Bartlett took over was amazing - unlike Pennock, Bartlett put an arm around him and built him up, put a smile on his face. Even when he was told he wasn't starting in the first semi his attitude was still good and he got his chance after 15mins, came on and scored the winner. So essentially will depend on how your manager works with him.

Pros: Physical, good in the air, scores goals at this level
Cons: Touch is inconsistent, movement isn't great, if he isn't played in preferred position he is disinterested, not the brightest so even if the opposition defenders have his measure he doesn't alter his approach (see 1st half at Wembley).

No Jonny Maxted will be #1 - good young keeper with decent distribution, fits the Cooper mould I think.

Could be. Might be Cooper has someone else in mind too.

Rhys Taylor is available...

Indeed a possibility. Whilst Cooper has been quick to get a number of players, largely the better ones, signed up on new contracts it is likely that some of those already contracted for next season before he arrived might not feature in his plans. There are certainly several who I think may not see too much time on the pitch next season, unless we start with a really small playing squad and have injury problems. Most teams seem to run with 20-24, we are still somewhat short of that number, expect to see a few more players arrive in the weeks ahead.

I hope Maxted isn't our number one, could be very costly

That would be an obvious move for me. Good move for him, close to home too.

Good keeper at this level. Not exceptional but definitely good enough for a team looking at promotion.

Interesting suggestion, certainly fits the profile of the type of player we typically go for...he has played for Newport!

However, as you had him on loan last season and he played pretty regularly, wouldn't he be a target for Wrexham?

Apparently we were wanting him to stay, but Taylor asked for more money than we were offering. Money to relocate according to Taylor, but Mills wasn't prepared to stretch to what he wanted. I think that was the situation anyway.

I've seen better in this league, but he's definitely a good keeper.

Interesting comments Mr S. I guess if he lives in South Wales then coming to us wouldn't be an issue at all with regards relocation, easy to get to the club or where the team trains, we have had quite a few players from that part of the World over the years.

Taylor's wadded from his time at Chelsea so can't be that much down to money for him. After all he decided to stay with us a couple of January's ago instead of going to Crawley or another league team.

Brett Williams has signed for Torquay United, quality signing for them that think Torquay could surprise a few next season.

Bencherif is fat, slow and shit. Part of the shittest Conference last year.

But now he's signed for Wrexham he's really good and Jennings is average.

Bencherif has always struggled with his weight and that was amplified by playing PT with Halifax last year. If Wrecsam can get him fit over the summer, he's a decent signing. Slow, yes, but shit, no.

I thought they were skint?

We are, but we're waiting on a takeover too. Believe our budget is around £400k, so a slight improvement on last years. Hoping to see O'Kane move on from Bournemouth for a decent fee too as we should get a chunk of that!

Really impressed with the signings Nicholson is making.

Eastleigh have signed Adam Dawson. He's clearly got ability but there are major, major doubts over his fitness. His appearance record over the last 5 years is truly shocking and he's recently had an operation. Huge risk, but if he stays fit he'll no doubt be a good signing.

I'd be worried if I was Eastleigh. Dugdale and Dawson are, on the face of it, two very risky and probably poor signings that you are gambling might come good. It's true, they might, but I'd say it was 20:80 against either of them being a good signing for you.

Jack Mackreth has come back to Macc. Fairly happy with that, was excellent in his last spell here.

Dawson has an awful attitude and injury record but if he can get fit and sort out his head he'll be a great signing.

Absolutely, he's a cracking player but not as good as he thinks he is. I'm a bit disappointed he hasn't made it into the league yet because when he was with us he looked nailed on for league 2 at least.

We've signed full-back Curtley Williams on a free. Still signed him when at Luton.

Never heard of him.

Bit of a strange one as Still never played him. He had two or three appearances early on and looked reasonable, a bit cumbersome on the ball but solid defensively and quick. Had some injury issues after that and then was never seen again, completely forgotten man.

Based on very limited evidence I'd say he should be a solid Conference right back if he stays fit.

Thanks for that. The write up on our site suggests he was injured for most of the time Still was there.
