Now just waiting on the announcement that Scott Rendell and Jake Cole have signed for Aldershot.

Jake Cole I would take, and Waddock has tried to sign him before. Rendell I'm not so sure about, it doesn't sit right that we would sign a player who would walk away from a club that supported him through a serious injury and a group of fans that paid for his treatment. All smacks of being a bit mercenary to me.

Effectively, we paid for his treatment so the club didn't have to. As the club doesn't insure its players (ZOMG HOW CULD TEH CLUB NOT PAY 4 INSURENCE!!!11!!!1111!!!!) they could have just let Rendell get the operation, treatment etc. through the NHS which would have taken forever.

I'm sure we've offered him terms but probably reduced from last season because of the injury. He has a family to provide for and at his age it would be difficult to turn down a few extra quid from someone pretty local - Aldershot, Eastleigh. It'd just be pretty rotten if, out of everyone, he signed for your lot. Whoever does sign him is taking a risk. We've already re-signed Yakubu coming back from the same injury. On our reduced budget, I'm not sure we can justify signing another.

I'm not sure, but someone could do a job there. I mean, Cameron Belford was like having an outfield player in goal and we were winning most games comfortably for the first third of last season.

Mills was asked about the types of players he was still looking to bring in. He mentioned a keeper, "We can't go into a season without a goalkeeper" he chuckled.

You did last season Gary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Belford did make mistakes, but I think the defence needs to take a lot of the blame too. Too many times early season the centre halves were just standing off their man giving him a free shot at Belford's goal and if he sticks it in the corner, it's going to be hard for him to get there, he needed his defenders to pressure the attackers, but they didn't. Crosses too, where too often I saw Manny Smith just stare at Belford hoping he would come to collect it when he could have just dealt with it himself.

*Thought it was Lancaster, am sure someone can clarify that.

Was last season, but apparently now moved back to the Manchester area (I heard Rochdale). Done it for years, it's the only way we can pick up players - I doubt any other team in this league is based as far away from a major city(?), so always had to pay a little bit more anyway. Hence we're usually left with the dross that no-one else wants.
Really don't think there's any proper Barrow fans (maybe a couple of bitter old bastards) who resent the fact we've got a bit of cash now - it doesn't feel like someone's play thing or a business project like some clubs around this level. We're hardly chucking great sums around on washed up old League players, with plenty of Cumbrians and Lancs players in the squad and a number of our main signings from the lower levels. The fact that it creates a bit of resentment is a bonus.

Tranmere have re signed right back Lee Vaughan. I'm not overly excited with this signing. I think he's a little bit better than your average Vanarama right back and better than Ritchie Sutton in that position.

What did Cheltenham do to him? When he left us he was possibly the best right back in the division.

I thought Richie Sutton was just starting to get the hang of playing right-back for us when Brabin ditched him.

Lee Vaughan; the attacking side of his game is good and he looked like he cared when Wrecsam beat us to effectively end the play-off hopes. Defensively, his lack of height can be exploited and gets pulled out of position at times. On balance, I'm pleased he's re-signed and at least we're not repeating last season's mistake of playing a makeshift right-back. Next we need to get a left-back fixed up.

Bath City have signed Stuart Fleetwood. A lot of people expected him to come to us (Gloucester boy, followed the club, lives in the area) but frankly his goal ratio is really poor (plus he seems to command decent wages still). 1 goal in 36 games for Sutton last season. No thanks.

A good keeper for this level. Experienced and solid. Throws one in his goal every so often. Would have, of course, liked to have kept him but money talks.

Aldershot going for it (we all know how this ends).

Just wait until they splash the cash on 29-year-old striker, who has been injured for nine months.

You were moaning at him for being there, now you're moaning at him for not being there. You've obviously been listening to that drunken fuckwit Kingfield Ender...

Quite surprised by this as he didn't look that good when we played you.

He was easily one of the worst players in the Conference the last 2 seasons.

He can't defend, tackle, pass or cross.

Often seen watching near the halfway line when the opposition right winger is running in to the box.

Sounds positive. Yep does seem like we're spending a bit more although I seem to remember Shahid saying we have a bigger budget this season (just hope we don't go too far the other way).
Not sure I want Rendell, good player but wouldn't take a risk on a striker who's been out all season, surely better options out there.
How many have you got signed on now?

Very much liking the looks of our summer business so far. Robson sounds good from what I've heard, and I trust Still with the Luton lads he's brought in, and at the very least, at least it shows they want to play for him if they're willing to follow him from one club to another. Assombalonga sounds very exciting, and that Feriji lad appears highly rated by a few Stevenage fans.

Establishing a good mix of young and experience which makes me quite excited for the start of the season for the first time in quite a while.

We've signed Liam noble from Notts County, 10 goals and 8 assists in league 2 last season sounds very good.

"20 yellow cards and SIX red cards in his last 78 games. 56 yellows and EIGHT reds over the last six seasons. #FGR" Alan Alger

Seems like a player that will be picked on by the refslike the rest of your team, isn't that right FGR fans?
