Great signing for us that and a two year deal.
The sooner we can shift out Bush Power and Beevers the better!

Oh, so you know your budget and what your players are getting paid then?

I have a pretty good idea, and I suspect Lew does too.

Is Rendell on a packet of Pickled Onion Monster Munch and a Fruit Shoot? You're splashing more cash than we could on a 29-year-old who hasn't played for a season. Buckets out in 12 months. Rattle rattle.

What did you do to turf out (get it) Nunny btw?

Woking fans August 2015-May 2016: "Rendell's injured so we're screwed - he's the best striker in this division."
Woking fans June 2016: "Rendell's really slow and will probably be crap now anyway."

No, you wouldn't be happy with any pay-cut if you were coming back from a year off work. So what if the fans helped raise some cash for him? The club can't hold him to ransom by offering a sub-par contract because he owes you some gratitude.

Would you be happy to spend 15-20% of your wage budget on an employee who hadn't worked for a year?

It would be discrimination to pay a contracted employee less. If Rendell was contract for another year, would you expect him to take that pay cut??

Michael Bakare is 29 years old and has 71 appearances in the last 5 seasons; some of those years playing at teams lower down the pyramid.

He's made less than 200 appearances in his entire senior career. I really have no idea why he has been signed.
Im usually optimistic, but he seems like the most uninspiring signing of all time.

We will see but I was hoping for someone with a better record to be honest.

We've signed Harry Hickford, 20, from MK Dons. Looks like another prospect as he's never actually played for MK Dons and was loaned to Torquay (any idea?) and Hemel Hempstead last season. Utility player by the looks of it.

So out of the ten players we've signed this summer, I make that five under 21 prospects plus one 18 year old from the Academy (to go along with the other Academy graduate from last year) plus another two under 23s who are more likely to be starting or at least pushing for the matchday squad (Doidge & Pinnock).
Only "older" players we've signed are Noble, 25 and Traore, 24.

Squad size looking a little large at 26 (assuming carter re-signs) and we are still due to bring in a GK and striker. I envisage 1-2 to leave permanently and another 3-4 or so to go out on loan (Jeffrey anyone?), leaving us with a squad of 22-24 (although 12 will be aged under 23).

Can any Daggers fans shed some light onto Ashley Chambers' performances these last two years? Can't say I'm impressed we've signed him from past experience.

Sounds like another development player, hopefully he'll develop under Cooper and Bartlett's good quality coaching. Could be one or two more of those to come as well with two more youngsters, Watts and Odiero on trial with us.

Bloody hell we'll basically have enough for an under 21 side

I can offer a bit of insight, I was a chambers fan at city, really unselfish player, and quite quick with the ball, the only downsides to him were he doesn't get stuck in when the going gets tough and he is also a huge confidence player so when his head drops, his game generally does. Started as a striker for us but became more of a winger, seems a nice guy and certainly someone I would like to see back at York one day

Lathaniel Rowe-Turner returns to Torquay, thought he was ok when he was with us last, but not sure if he could still do a job now...

Massive swing from 2 or 3 years ago, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I agree with you there. I would much rather have us developing younger players, who might have been cast-offs at a higher level, than some of the signings of the last few years who were largely on the slide. There is a fair chance that those who have arrived will develop further in our academy, under Scotty Bartlett, and most of them should already be National League standard.

Greg Tempest has gone to Nuneaton, Nat Brown Boston, Aidan Grant signed for Corby I think. Matt Sparrow has gone to Australia, presumably to play.

We've also signed Taylor Miles from Braintree in between the two you mention.

Mark Phillips has gone from Braintree to Ebbsfleet, as has Jack Connors from Dagenham.

Alex Wall has signed a deal with Sutton (from Bromley) provided he passes pre-season with no injury recurrences.

He only played for us once I think, when MacDonald was suspended, so went back at the end of his loan spell. Not much to say really. Was described and played at centre back.

Dele Alli's (kind of) adopted brother apparently. Became part of Hickfords family at 14 when his mum couldn't cope.

Ah, so that's why I saw Dele Alli at Hemel in February, when Hickford was on loan there. ^^^^
